I can’t believe I found your channel again it’s been so long. If it wasn’t for your video on how to draw a dragon from ten years ago, I wouldn’t be pursuing a graphic novel career today. I was around ten or eleven at the time, and now I’m a college student. Time flies fast doesn’t it? I just wanted to say, if it wasn’t for you I probably would’ve never started taking art seriously. Now I’m making my own comic series! So I just wanted to say thank you for that. You inspired me to be the person I am today.
Just what I need when I'm at my lowest creative point EVER in my life! Thank you for all the great years of tutorials! I got my start watching your tutorials on Activity TV on demand on Comcast! The. I discovered your RUclips not long after!
I've been following you for so many years now, and I just wanted you to know that your advice has always been helpful and motivating. Thanks for what you do.
Finally got the first Mastering Manga after wanting it since it dropped!! Very happy to finally have it as I feel my creativity has been zapped out of me for years now. I'm even happier to see you're still making videos!
I'm 23 now but when I was about 9 years old I found a drawing tutorial of yours on tv using on demand and followed along with the video, it got me into art. Some few years later I found you on RUclips and every once in while I come to the channel to see what's new and I'm glad you're still making videos!
Man since I’m a child I watch your videos. You always inspired me since I’m a little kid and finally I’m making a fan comic, my visual novel and mini movies that can make me progress day by day THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING❤HA❤❤❤btw your tuto book is amazing🎉! thx you
To add to the title tip, don't just google it once. I've been on a project for three years and I google my title once every few months and sure enough, three years in someone took my title. Granted it was partially my fault and used a common sports phrase for the title : / And don't just search the title but use key words like comic/manga/graphicnovel after it.
The "name game" gets quite irritating these days. It's impossible to pick a good name for anything that hasn't been used yet. Even mathematically, 26 letters can be combined in a 5 letter word about 11 million ways. Most wouldn't make sense like "zzzzz", but it should be clear that if there's 11 million artists in the world and each picks one letter combo there won't be anything left. Wanna call your character Jane? It exists. Joane? Yep. Jene? Used. Jiona? Registered. Juja? TMed. Jsop? Now that's fresh, only used 8 times the past 2 years. Call your main character Jsop... if you dare. Not to mention, there are people trying to make a living by registering every word out there to make anyone trying to use it pay. What I mean is, googling would be quite upsetting. It gave me 488k results for "jsop" by the way. Neat, huh? Gotta call your character 40 ampersands to be unique, I dunno.
Probably also why light novel ended up with title like "Nuiage! Nugashite? Kisekaeru!! Kanojo ga Koukou Debut ni Shippai shite Hikikomoritokashita no de, Ore ga Fashion wo Coordinate suru Koto ni"
Thanks for the Great advice! I had the opportunity to help work on an instruction book at my work and the "gap" in the book was very important to understand just like you were saying. I look forward to getting these pieces of advice all together.
watching 2:54 as someone who named their comic Once up on a Time like,,,,, (๏ᆺ๏υ) upon is spelled as up on tho that toooootally makes it unique,,,, totally.
Great video, Mark! It was fun to follow along with these tips throughout the month. I've been watching your videos since I was a kid, and now I'm in college studying to become a professional comic artist! In a future video, I'd love to hear about your experiences working in the graphic novel industry and what it's like to be a professional comic artist after so many years of experience.
I like the way that the smoke is really standing out against everything else it kind of just suggest that whatever is burning in there is of some significance but since I do not know the context of the story itself I'm not sure if that was Intentional.
when i make my comic book which im in the process of working out the story im sending you some of the first draft, I got something good going on, been following you since i was 12 lol I'm 25 now and if it werent for you i would have never gotten into drawing.
This is a nice video full of great advice! Out of curiosity, what is your opinion on AI art? (Btw I’ve been subbed to you for over a decade now. Thanks for inspiring me to always try to continue to improve my drawing!)
I was just talking to my son about titles in wondering at what point do you cross the line into copying a title. There's so many words and names that you could title your story where there's other properties out there that share the same name but because it's such a general word no one gets in trouble. I have three songs in my playlist that all have the same Title by completely different artists and they're completely different song. But then there's some titles that are so specific I can understand why you wouldn't be able to use that title.
@Megan Steele Not necessarily. A shrine might be a memorial to a person who died, or it might be devoted to a saint or deity. It's a holy place dedicated to an individual, rather than a place of general worship like a temple or church.
Uploading 720p Video in 2023 is most likely detrimental not just because it is noticeable for people with UHD screen but also because RUclips prioritize content with higher resolution. Also they often neglect to use high quality AV1 compression on content that is originally 720p or low bitrate. With a 720p camera it may be a good idea to use an AI upscaler like waifu2X/ Anime4K to get a UHD files to upload and then get the advantages who come with uploading 4K video.

You were a great help back when I started to advance my art back in school, now I’m coming back to your channel to fill up on advice for a comic. Epic
I'm really happy to see you're still active, you helped me so much when I was starting out with art, without you I wouldn't be where I am today
I've been working on making my own graphic novel length comic and I certainly will make use of all the advice you've given!

Man you have been my inspiration since I went to grade school. 12 years later and you are still going strong!
I miss everything about mark and art.
I have nice memories from drawing class in high school 10 years ago learning from you, very nostalgic
Gonna watch this when I don't have to sleep, I accidently became a comic artist and it's awesome! (Looking back it's what I've always wanted)

A shrine, possibly
@@alyssaartifex450 Shrine? Oh, so someone died, so their paying their respect. Cool, sad but, cool.
