This series is awesome I see all these time lapse vids on youtube and you wonder exactly what goes through the artist's mind when they go from step to step, and a series like this really gives us an insight into the mind of someone who knows what they're doing. Thanks Mark.
Hey mark, there are those of us who enjoy the full no timelaps because your explanation of your choices and comments are really helpful. Sure not every video should be like this, but even if you give us just an idea of your thoughts and choices and why you make them it helps immensely.
Mark, Thank you so much for this sequence of new video lessons. I anxiously await the final two segments. I'm following along with you step by step. You've taught me a ton already! It is so much fun to get back into illustration! You are an inspiring teacher!
Its a nice change of pace. Seeing how an actual illustration is done from start to finish is nice. It is very motivational in terms of wanting to draw. I cant wait to see the rest of these videos, and to see what you do after.
Yeah putting it all together in time-lapse when you're done is a good idea, and also it would help viewers get a better idea of just how much you usually speed things up when you do timelapse for future reference. I love these videos Mark, I don't get bored at all
I totally agree!!! I know he said that he wouldn't be very proud of the drawing at the end of the video but I love it like this, though I am interested in what he is going to add next because he has a knack for adding detail.
Thank you for taking the time to show the process you go through to complete a work. You even included the eraser, I can't wait to try this kind of follow along because I am one of those who have had struggles with water colors, but will now try again!
mark, i want to thank you for everything, you introduced me to the world of manga drawing and without you, i would never be as good as i am today. your tutorials have been the source of my inspiration and they give the strength to draw every single day. i am an haitian 11 year old kid, probably your only fan back there and i am an aspiring manga artist. keep up the videos and please make one about character design, it would be so helpful! like so he can see.
Your videos on illustration techniques (such as drawing chrome, leather, explosions, and stone surfaces) are the most helpful for me. It's not so much the tools you use but the decisions you make (and how you explain those decisions such as where to put a different color and why) that are more valuable then most art school classes. Keep it up! P.S. - the Ahh video was amazing, but for different reasons entirely.
I love the slow-moving nature of this video, and I love the idea of a four-part video series! I hope you do more multi-part series like this in the future!
Hi Mark. Loved the no time lapse videos so far! I like hearing your thought processes as you are drawing and correcting and painting. I'm fairly new to illustrating, but your how to videos really help alot!. I've been following you for about 10 months now. You're awesome and the new link is AHH-mazing!
The link was AHHHHH Mazing! LOL! Very cool! I loved the anamorphic can, freaky! Thanks for doing this narrated illustration series! it's really helpful!
OK, I just checked the Ahh video in the description, and OMG> My jaw actually dropped. That was AMAZING. I didn't know anyone could draw like that, my gosh I was (and still am) very impressed! Well done, well done indeed!!
I was just about ready to give up on drawing because music has taken up more of my time (I play my guitar for hours upon hours every day) of late. You, Mr. Crilley, have renewed my passion for drawing.
Thanks again for yet another great way to start the day, Mark! I know I can't speak for everyone, but I'm really enjoying the non time lapse videos (if anything, it proves that you aren't cheating by sprinkling magic dust on your artwork and fast forwarding through it).
man thanks i've been watchin' your vids since 1 'n a half years and thanks to you now i can draw e-very-thing!!!!! from manga to super realistic illusions and they are good i own everything to you
This really reminds me of a children's book illustration, which makes me really happy! I tend to use a lot of bright colours when I paint with watercolour, so I think I'm going to try this and see what happens. I really like your long videos, they're nice and I'm looking forward to the next ones! Thank you so much for this! :D
I've been following Mark's videos for a while now and there is something on his channel for all levels of ability. He also produced a great book on How to Master Manga which you can get on Amazon and no doubt other places too.
You said this would look messy at the end of this. It looks awesome even though it's not finished. I really like watching your videos. They help me a lot with my artwork. Thanks so much for what you do :)
Nice. Enjoying this series a lot. It's impressive how you get watercolors to give the effects you want on smooth Bristol. I decided to give watercolors a try and ended up switching to watercolor paper, which for me has been way more forgiving.
This is really cool, it reminds me that every artist as parts during the process where it doesn't look so perfect. Good Job! I think this is amazing. :)
Awesome video, Mark!! These narrated illustration videos have helped me with a class project for my graphic arts class. It really helped me out on how to apply watercolor on my illustration and the various techniques shown will help me along the road :)
That's it dude! You've really hit your stride with these no time lapse video. Throw in some of the voices you do, speak frankly about the process....Lovin these videos man! Keep it up!

More more morrreeee!!!! I definitely love your work. I only plead to you to make more, no time lapsed videos! I also think you should make another few, with water color with touches of color pencil. Ive have never done water color before, this video completely changed my perspective on water color. I loved no time lapse, you should diff make more, more often!
I love this!!! I have been drawing this with you, and I really want you to do more real time drawings, your videos have helped me draw better than I have ever thought I could, thank you sososo much, you are like an art teacher ^-^
Your answer helps me a lot. No serious. I mean, watching every thing again would probably take me days, given the time available for me.
LOVE the real time, so I can draw and paint along with you. You're a great teacher, Mark

After many months of hesitation, yesterday i finally started my first watercolor/mixed media illustration. Thank you for inspiring us, Mark!

I think it's already looking good. It's not disappointing at all! Thank you, Mark.
It's amazing how even just 1 inch of the panel extra (when you zoomed out) makes a difference!
Wow, thank you for this video :)
I feel that it gave me more to watch this and how to use watercolor.
Thank you again!
Keep up the great work!! :D
I really like this 'no time lapse' stuff. In a way, it's refreshing. And it's nice to hear techniques from you as well.
