Great review Paul! I've had the Solar P1 3.0 for two weeks now and have logged almost 200 miles! Absolutely love that scooter. Do you think it's worth upgrading to the Solar P1 Pro?
The 3.0 is really fun. It’s so hard to say. If you feel like you need a smoother ride, hydraulic brakes and more speed then the pro is pretty great. But definitely consider the weight. It’s a lot heavier and harder to even hop up a curb. It’s a beast! -Paul
Hi Paul, just wanted to say love the review really helped me a lot, I’ve just had my p1 pro arrive yesterday and I’m having problems with my horn not working, would you have any idea as to why?
My only guess is that it it has come unplugged either near the headlight or in the deck. I think the horn is located in the headlight. Try unplugging the headlight and see if there are any bent pins there. Also check the plug for the horn button. I’ve accidentally folded pins over when plugging things in before. Not on the P1 pro, but on some scooter with similar plugs. -Paul P.S. enjoy the power!

This looks ok but I want you to review the Solar Hyperion. Also on your test can you include metric system details and personally I would like results shown for Ramier to show the results for the bigger guy. Being a taller person I feel there is little to no comments on handle bar heights for the scooters. I think is is a major comfort factor for daily riders.
I have this exact scooter, why did you say there is no app? There is an app for the display, you just have to scan the QR code on the back of the display to download it. Solar does not tell you about this app though.
This is one of the things I love about the comments section! I didn’t know about the app. It’s pretty unusual for there to be an app for the scooter that’s not from the manufacturer, but I believe you. I’ll go check it out. Thanks! -Paul
No problem, yeah I bought this back in December and have over 500 miles on it, have had to replace display once and had to replace rear motor recently, but customer service was awesome and has taken good care of me, especially "D". I did find it weird the app was undocumented too. Also sometimes the manufacturer updates the app but the only way to update or even to find out if there is an update is to rescan the QR code.
Oh I should mention you have to make an account and add the serial number thats on the display to unlock all the apps features, like changing p settings in app
Try switching the master switch off with the alarm system armed. From previous experience it kills power directly from the battery rendering the immobilizer useless.
True, and good point! That’s actually something I like about the master switch since alarm systems can be a long-term drain on batteries. Most people won’t know there is a kill switch. I suppose if an owner really wanted security, they could move the switch inside the case or bypass it all together. -Paul
16:06 I'm guessing you've ridden quite the array of scooter chassis; over a hundred types minus duplicates as a wag. Do you have empirical tips on recovering from any type of death wobble or instability? When in doubt throttle out? On a motorcycle or dirt bike, it does have truth to it, shifting your weight and using the throttle to cut or add power. I theorize it changes the natural frequency of the steering group to get away from the death harmonic. My 2021 WWX is a stable unit cruising 35-40 mph, got hundreds of miles there. I got it because you all observed it was stable with that dual stem design and the physics of it, and I confirm your observations.
When in doubt throttle out is a good approach, but you eventually have to slow down :-) It gives you a chance to slow down more gradually though. Also keep looking straight ahead (or wherever you want to go), stay loose and don’t panic! -Paul
It really needs a detachable battery for people living in a two or more story building like most city’s and apartments or for someone that wants there battery to be kept out of the very hot or very cold temps outside
Great idea but when I bought my kaabo wolf gtr the battery detach mechanism jammed during shipping (I'm guessing). It wouldn't unlock and it was lifted slightly so it wasn't flush with the deck. I didn't bother getting a replacement. Didn't want to chance it with another one. Full refund.😢

Great review, Paul. It's quite the value all things considered. The boxy design, 2X2 front suspension and telescoping stem are definitely not the contemporary style but a lot of performance per dollar is gained for those who don't care about the milk crate between two wheels look. I've always thought Solar was a cool company but their designs just haven't spoken to me lately. Recently, I revisited the Solar FF Lite (2024 version) and thought wow! this seems to be a stand out on many levels with the improvements they've made. Besides being the best looking scooter in their line up (subjective of course) at 70lbs it's one of the lightest, C-type suspension, 40mph scooters available. It also has NFC cards, a hugely improved headlamp, all new display, a choice twist or thumb throttle (the trigger is gone) and a motorcycle grade horn, just to name a few. I remember that you did an unboxing of the 2023 model but then never did a full review. I know that sometimes that means it didn't make the grade at ESG but I'm not sure if that's the case or not. Regardless, the 2024 looks spectacular and is around $1700 with discount code. This puts it about $500 below the RS5 Max I just picked up, while not falling that far behind in performance. It seems like it might compete with the Roadrunner RS5 Max, Mantis King GT, VSETT-10 at a lower price and offer some more modern features. I sure would like to get ESG's thoughts if possible in a review. To my mind, the difference between the 2023 and 2024 FF Lite is even more significant than the differences between the first gen RS5 plus and 2nd gen RS5 Max.
Great analysis, as always! We definitely like the FF Lite, we just haven't been able to get back to it for a review. We usually do the scooters in order of popularity (according to the manufacturers). That way we hit the ones with the largest audience. But I keep eyeing the FF Lite! It's still here. I think we have two Solar scooters coming up in the next couple months. One is the new E-Clipse e-moto. The other is a scooter, but I'm not sure which one. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Thanks for your thoughts, as always! Yes, that would make sense regarding the popularity. I'll be eager to see the next Solar review because they've always piqued my interest, I've just never owned one. The 2024 FF Lite is right up my ally but I just purchased the RS5 Max recently and the GX3 seems to be available now. This means I'll have to plan the next move because I can't really afford both in quick succession due to the house rules... haha. :) Right now I'm leaning toward the FF Lite as the GX3 appears a bit more geared as an all-terrain scooter. The FF Lite seems like it would be a good riding companion to the RS5 Max, albeit with a a bit less range.
I really like them, they are just rare to get in austria. Since i didnt found a Solar P1 3.0 at all, not even for a unreasonable price here, i will go for a demonstrator which has 60 km on it, but its a crazy monster with 5200W and 72V 35Ah battery. 41 kg will be annoying for sure, but this "Minimotors Bluetran Lightning" will be awesome (150 km range in eco!!!)
Thanks Paul! Love your thorough reviews. I was thinking of getting a refurbished 72V Dualtron Storm for the similar price or the Solar P1 Pro. I am used to the Dualtrons because I've had a Thunder for years. What are your thoughts? Should I go with the Solar P1 Pro or the refurbished Storm at the similar price?
I’m looking to buy my first scooter. I’m between the new phantom, the Apollo pro, this solar, and the Segway gt 2. I care most about how smooth the ride is and its ability to handle bumps, road imperfections, and rocks. Which offers the smoothest ride in your opinion? I’m not going off road but I want to feel a good ride for daily commuting.
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide thank you for the response. I also noticed the pro had the bigger tires. This is exactly what I needed to hear. A lot of people on Reddit were hating on the pro because it didn’t have the performance brakes and top speed for the price. But you can’t beat pure quality. Thank you so much for the response. Genuinely. Have you or the team had any QC issues with the pro?
I'm shopping for a new scooter, and I can't say how great a resource this channel is. I'm leaning towards the Solar EQ at the moment, but there are so many options at a similar price point that it's really hard to choose. Do you have any plans to review the Roadrunner D4 4.0? It is tempting at the current price point.
Good value for the performance. How ever I feel like there’s too many screws and bolts holding a lot of the parts, making me worried about the quality and the safety for the speed that is capable of. IMO
your videos are the best. I just ordered one of these monsters :) would you guys recommend installing a steering damper? if they even make one for this model.
Weird question, but I'm not sure where to ask. Ive heard yall say on other videos to check the battery voltage rather than the percentage when determining if you are low battery. What number should I be looking for? Specifically for the Roadrunner pro and the Wolf King gt pro
Great question! There are some good charts out there which break it down exactly, but I usually go with the fully charged voltage. For example on a 60V scooter I think the full charge voltage is around 68.8 (off the top of my head), so the nominal voltage of 60V is 50% and the cut off voltage will often be the same difference below that, so around 51V. Again these are just rough numbers I use while riding, but the voltage charts (we might still have one on the electric scooter guide site, or maybe it’s over at Rider Guide) will show you the exact numbers. -Paul
I drive a chevy truck to work and its only 7 miles away. If i bought this it would pay for itself in gas in a year. Only problem is i live on the third floor 😢 how heavy is it?
hi! amazing review. i saw that you have a lot of experience and i want to know if the vsett 10+ is a good scooter. it has good acceleration? long range? power? suspension? And if mantis king gt is better. thanks a lot!
Both are great scooters. We've reviewed both on our channel. If you check out the electric scooter guide site you can see the tested range for all of them. All were tested on the same range-test course, so you can see which went further. Same for acceleration and speed. -Paul
I’ve watched many of your budget videos so far but can’t decide but overall for a budget of $600 looking for speed and reliability what would you say is the number 1 answer
@@Kadezzsselling my solar p1.30 fingerprint edition for £400 if interested. Under a year old. Fully working and still being used. London. Looking to upgrade reason why selling.
Do you have a video on the fastest acceleration? 0-30mph in the mid range category? Or for any under 2k? I like that chart you showed. Do you have that available?
Both are excellent options with plenty of speed and range. Small difference between the two. Either one will be sufficient for most riders. You can use code RG10 to get 10% off to bring the price lower. Check link in description for latest prices.
26:46 After absorbing this video a 2nd time, I don't mind the older styling and can tolerate the folding mechanism but that adjustable, telescoping stem design just has too much play in it for some of us. While not ideal, the clamp actually locks fairly solidly but it's the diameter of the tubing on the upper half. It just doesn't have the inherent rigidity that a full size, large diameter stem has... like their FF Lite for example. While they might be forced to use this design due to this model being offered with the seat option, they use the same system on their EQ and P1 3.0 which sort of abandons their stem flex sensitive riders. While I accept it on a low-mid performance scooter like the Emove Cruiser S, I can't adopt it on an all out sport scooter with all the loads at play. Solar does their homework, so I'm not saying it won't last, I'm just saying I don't like the flex and feel of the telescoping models. Lastly, it would be nice if Solar offered battery options that included LG or Samsung cells. I understand this would cost more but people like myself are willing to spend more up front to increase the reliability long term. I'm one of those people who always gets the LG or Samsung option and larger capacity battery when it's an option. There's literally no down side other than cost and often we're only talking a difference of 10-15%. In the example where the premium cells also offer more watt hours, I'd rather have the range and not use it rather than need the range and not have it. I wish more scooter companies would realize their enthusiast buyers... Apollo Go design team... I'm talking to you. :)
Vsett 10+ or Solar P1 pro are both solid options! Solar has more bang for your buck for sure! Use code RG10 for 10% off your order and price gets even better!
tbh not getting an app is a huge bonus for me lol. So many of these "high performance" models have their best features locked behind phone apps that will be obsolete, inaccessible and not supported three years from now, and I'd hate to spend $3,000 on a scooter just to find that I can't make it go more than 20mph because the app that allowed you to unlock it no longer exists. Having everything working right out of the box is the way to go.
Thanks for the review. I'm looking to upgrade it from my joyor s5 since I don't have a car I can only go 4 miles from my house since it gets around 8-9 miles until it dies. I was saving for the Wolf King GTR since it seemed like the only scooter with anti theft protection so I'm glad there's a scooter that has almost all the same specs but half the money. Although I'd prefer the double stem of the GTR I can't complain much for the price range. Now I can do 10 mile trips one way before having to head back to the house🥳 y'all are awesome

I have Mukuta 10+. It has 2x1400w brushless motors, 4000w peak power. And a stated top speed of 46MPH, which I have been able to hit. But here’s the issue, it is $1999. So this New Solar has 2000W motors like Wolf King, but for less price is a great deal! Edit: where do did you get the red scooter scissor jack?
I would love the solar scooters, but there is no way to get them in austria, at least where i searched and asked. Mainly i would love them for their overall nice package of the P1 (non Pro...) and the optional mounted seat for long trips. But i found a theoretically (i dont need all the extra battery and power...) "better" deal with a Bluetran Lightning in its crazy 72V 35Ah config for "just" 2100€, slightly above the budget, but the battery size, range and speed/torque is crazy. All i need would be 20-30 km a day and im happy with 35-40 km/h max speed. But since any mediocre scooter is still too limited in hillclimbing and offroad due to "low power/torque", i will probably get a heavy 72V powerhouse from 2022/2023.
We’ve tried one of their scooters (we still have a D4+) but didn’t end up reviewing it. Thanks for the feedback. We’ve had a few requests for Yume in the comments here. We’ll look into it. -Paul
Hey Paul! Im in the market for a high performance scooter in the 1500-2000$ range. Im now between the Nanrobot N6 72V version (eve battery), and the Solar P1 Pro (generic battery). Im having an insanely difficult choice weighing the pros and cons of each. The P1 has superior tires, but less performance. Which would you recomend out of the two? I know it may be hard since you havent reviewed the N6 72V
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide thank you king. I just really hope the battery lasts. I can’t seem to find the distributor of the battery itself, but it seems like it has good cells so hopefully a generic one will still last… I really wish they used maybe a Samsung or Eve battery instead
Very nice review. I've seen no comparison with the nami klima... Altough it is top speed faster, would you choose it over the klima? In a overall basis?
Interesting, it wouldn’t have occurred to me to compare them because they are so different in price. The Klima is another level in terms of acceleration until you get up to the higher speeds where the P1-Pro wins. It also has shorter braking distance and is a little lighter (though not light) it has a bigger battery, but smaller (10”) tires. Head-to-head the Klima wins except for top speed, but it should at nearly $1k more. -Paul

On pure long-term "reliability", like, years... what's the best? Reviewing so many, this isn't the place for that since he rides one maybe a week tops, maybe a few hours tops, so this question is for owners. I'm buying "reliable" whatever that brand turns out to be. I'll be buying my third now, the other two just died on their day. Neither lasted 6 months. That's not desirable, hehe. For sure, it would be impossible to compare scooters to everything you can build at home. Most riders don’t have the skill-set to build something like that without hurting themselves or setting their house on fire. -Paul
I'm always confused about the range statement. You're clearly not riding at maximum possible speed the whole time, but you state you're in max power mode. What's that translate to exactly? I'm not about to run in the fastest mode and have to hold my finger, uncomfortably, in a weird way to maintain 20mph in the bike lane, rather than run around in the lowest power mode to do the same.
I’m always riding as fast as is practical and safe in city conditions. So on a scooter like this one that means I’m riding about the same speed as the cars with peak speeds of 27 to just over 30mph between stop signs, but also a lot of starts and stops, so my average speed ends up a lot lower than my peak speeds. -Paul
OK, to be fair, the customer service was not totally useless. I live in S. Carolina and the laws regarding scooters are good if applied, except nobody at the dmv knows how to apply them. One of the steps the dmv asked of me was to bring in "manufactures certificate of origin" (to title and register the scooter) and Solar Motors, because they make an electric bike/motorcycle, Knew what the document was and (for a $20 fee) mailed the document to me.
No having control buttons next to the hand grips is a deal breaker for me, especially at this price. Is the rider supposed to drive one handed to change "gears" when traveling at 50mph?😖😵 Next ! Good video Paul, as always.
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Most of the seated scooters, which is a mature product, gas or electric, have controls next to the hand grips. And this is more important for kick scooters.
I bought this scooter in January, so far I've had a bunch of rear suspension, front suspension, stem and t-bar problems. Other than that the performance on this scooter is AMAZING, I get about 35-40 miles of range driving it HARD, and the acceleration is amazing.
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide I was able to sort out most of the problems by myself and by the help of an electric scooter repair shop, currently the problems are that the stem creaks a lot when riding and the front suspension is nearly ineffective at absorbing shocks. I almost fully ride this scooter off-road with its off-road tires, but if you have any solutions on how to solve the suspension problem I would appreciate it very much.

I dont like their G4s really much, the regular G4s are slightly too small and the G4 Max have bad suspension. A 2500$ G4 Max has about as good suspension as my actual 200$ 2nd hand scooter with 480Wh battery and 1000W single motor (45km/h) I will get in some days a good deal of a demonstrator vehicle. 1 year old with 60 km on it (so "new" basically), a Minimotors Bluetran Lightning, 72V 35Ah model. weights 41 kg but i dont care, its a damn 2,5 kWh battery , has good adjustable suspension and i pay 2000€!
@@harrison00xXx For a first real scooter for me the G4 is very good, and very cheap in price. Only had a Xiaomi ES2 pro before. And I like it to be as small as possible, so for a fun sommer scooter priced below 1000$ I think it's well worth the money.

I got it because you all observed it was stable with that dual stem design and the physics of it, and I confirm your observations.
When in doubt throttle out is a good approach, but you eventually have to slow down :-)
It gives you a chance to slow down more gradually though.
Also keep looking straight ahead (or wherever you want to go), stay loose and don’t panic!

Good value for the performance. How ever I feel like there’s too many screws and bolts holding a lot of the parts, making me worried about the quality and the safety for the speed that is capable of. IMO

Will Yume scooters ever be tested by you guys? they seem like a pretty good brand with great scooters for the price. specifically, the Yume Y11+
We will try to get a few to test!
your videos are the best. I just ordered one of these monsters :) would you guys recommend installing a steering damper? if they even make one for this model.
Depends on your driving style. For really fast speeds it can be an asset for sure.
-Paul

How would you compare this to the Vsett 10+ or the Maxfun 10 Pro? These are the 3 scooters I've narrowed down to for my next scooter.

-Paul

@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide I was able to sort out most of the problems by myself and by the help of an electric scooter repair shop, currently the problems are that the stem creaks a lot when riding and the front suspension is nearly ineffective at absorbing shocks.
