    I wouldn't say this is a hyper scooter because the word Hyper more correlates to fast or speed just like Hypercars that prioritizes speed than luxury. The Apollo Pro is more of a Luxury scooter, you could also say its Apollo's Lexus.

    I'm glad you touched on the IP66 rating. It really sets the Pro apart from other competitors you mentioned (including the Phantom). IP54 just doesn't cut it for a daily driver.
    This kind of actual water resistance is a requirement before any scooter can be truly "vehicle grade." Reliability is non-negotiable in a future of sustainable transportation. I'm looking forward to the day when IP66 is the standard for any scooter over $1000.

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  Год назад +4

      I think we're heading that way fast! It turns out that the Apollo City's spec has gone up since we reviewed it. It was IP56, but now IP66 as well! (water rating hasn't changed, but it gives me more confidence in thw water number when the dust number is higher too) -Paul

    • @Agedude
      @Agedude Год назад +2

      @@jeffbill Obviously IP67 is a higher rating than IP66, but it's only useful if you want to submerge your scooter underwater, which seems like a bad plan to begin with, even momentarily. You wouldn't be able to buy a car with IP67, so I don't see why you would need that on a scooter. IP66 is already one rating above what most riders would need, which is enough peace of mind for me.

    • @gloomy5487

    Great review and video. A pleasure to watch and build on the excitement. I’ve, been contacted by Apollo to be a “Beta Tester”. I’m, very excited! Over, the last 10yrs, a series of “Brain Surgeries”🤕, other procedures and a subsequent Stroke on the Operating Table: having to progress from a Wheelchair->Walker->Walker/Cane->unassisted, twice, now. Since then, it’s left me with residual visual deficits and complications. These, prevent me from driving, ever again and ended both of my Careers, as a Firefighter and EMT. “The System”, won’t even give me a “Disability Bus Pass”, though. So, I’ve turned to the “e-scooter, as my primary, mode of Transportation.
    This, whole prospect and product, have me, pretty excited.

    Nice review Paul. Look forward to seeing the beta test units rolling out. I think the most direct comparison here is the Segway GT2, from both a design and performance perspective. The 0-30 time is pretty slow, most likely because the motors peak at 1,800W vs 3,000 for the GT2. I’ll take your word for it regarding drum brakes but I still love the hydraulic brakes on the Segway GT. And, Segway released a major firmware upgrade last night that adds KERS, electronic braking, mode customization, and horn customization. So we’ll have to see how the software functionality of the Pro vs GT compares when the final product is out. At $2,500 I think beta testers are getting a great value. At $4,000 I think it’s a tough sell. The GT2 regularly gets discounted to $3,500 so you are going to have to pay $500 more to get less power and drum vs hydraulic disc brakes. I don’t see many buyers at that price. But who knows, maybe the market will be there. Time will tell.

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  Год назад +1

      Thanks for the insightful comment. I hadn't heard about KERS getting added to the GT2. I was honestly really surprised that the GT2 didn't have it, but also surprised just how good the brakes were without it, because the rotors are extra thick. I'm curious what their regen feels like. I think the beta test units for the Pro are $3k not $2,500 though. Time will tell where the street-price for the Pro will end up with coupon codes etc. -Paul

    The look of this scooter is quite appealing. I like it a lot more than the Kaabo Wolf and even more than the new Segways. Better looking than everything else available. Appears to have an amazing build quality.
    Love the water resistance. Love the optional SIM alarm / GPS. Love the beta test program. Love the regen brake system (and brake system in general). Love the large wheels/tires and self healing quality. Love the lights.
    Definitely not a fan of the phone being used as a display. Last thing I need is a dropped/broken cellphone because my scooter doesn't have its own display, and I don't need to be worried about my cellphone battery in relation to my scooter operation.
    How well does the headlight work at night?
    Regarding the piece of rubber used for suspension at the back: I'm wondering if it might degrade after exposure to the elements (freezing temperatures, water, excessive heat, etc.) or even just continued use?
    Hopefully this is a window into the quality of future scooter builds from most companies. Also, let's hope that as we make progress that the price comes WAY down. I'm not a fan of the price tag, even though I certainly understand it.
    As always, a well done and informative review!

Looks similar with some of the same features. 1000w puts it in a more pedestrian category but still quite fast and powerful. @Timothy Germann Get onto whomever you bought the scooter from and have the throttle replaced FREE. I had the same issue and recently I reached out to the sales team in which I purchased the scooter from and I took it into their Apollo repairer. Everything was taken care of via them through Apollo and it didn't cost me a cent. There are updated throttles (V8 I think?) that fix this issue (with raised buttons for more precise control) Ask Apollo directly as they will know. My City Pro came with the original throttles (indented buttons) which are difficult to press particularly with gloves on. When I got my new and improved throttle upgrade it made a world of difference. Hope this helps

    At 72 running the 12 miles to my friends house is getting more difficult after work all other forms transportation to her house either cost more than I want to spend or take almost as long as running there, the only other thing to consider is Fridays I make a trip that is 19 miles is it able to make a 40 mile loop on one charge? A lot more to the story but already too long!

    Which I had seen this video before today. That scooter is gorgeous. I just bought the Segway GT1. It’s very comfortable. My only problem would be that it is very big and doesn’t look as cool. It looks like a commercial scooter u rent on downtown somewhere. My other issue is that in sports/race mode. The range is only like 19 miles. Which isn’t as practical for riding to work. I love the inmotion RS. It’s fast and looks great! The price point though is more than my current budget.

    Great video. I picked up my Apollo Pro 2023 today. One thing I noticed is that on Pg. 13 in the manual, it states that there’s a hook on the front stem when folded to lock at the end of the deck. That hook or clip on the stem does not exist which made me confused. I know in your video it did state that the scooter will not be able to be clip to the back stem.

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  Год назад +2

      Definitely not at 50km/hour. You'd need to be going about 25km/hr to get close to that range on flat ground. It's pretty typical for manufacturers to quote max range which is usually at 12 to 15 mph and also typical for us to get 50 to 60% of that. -Paul

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  Год назад +2

      A folding lock through the handle would do the trick. I think scooter manufacturer's may be reluctant to include physical locks as part of the product, because you can imagine the sorts of customer service phone calls it would cause, such as: "I locked my scooter and now it won't unlock" or "I locked my scooter, and now my scooter is gone. Why is your lock so easy to defeat?"
      I have this vision of cities having anchor-points installed in the sidewalk, and then scooters could drop anchor into the anchor points. So a whole bike-rack (scooter-rack in this case) would just be a series of metal bumps on the ground that scooters could anchor to using drop-down anchors. It would be so cool and lightweight. -Paul

    Nice overview video! Re the beta program, I was selected a couple of days ago. Still considering whether or not the benefits for both parties is appropriately aligned/balanced. For example, beta testers come in two main categories... 1) The technical/Engineering/e-whatever experienced, and 2) Everyone else, including eScooter advocates, influencers, etc. Apollo benefits from input from both groups, and the beta testers should, of course, include testers from the entire spectrum of e-scooter riders. However, if Apollo is looking for input from a more technical/engineering perspective, I would suggest they consider bifurcating the terms and conditions for each group - to better balance benefit being provided to both parties. • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  Год назад +2

      One of the hard things to get used to with scooter tires (all of them) is that they have almost 10X the surface-area-to-volume ratio that car tires do. So, they need air once a week to keep them at spec. When they fall below spec, then you're in danger of getting pinch flats from potholes and even sharp edges like rolling into driveways.
      One of the advantages of the Pro (two, come to think of it) are tubless tires, which are more resistant to pinch flats, and the fact that they're 12" in diameter means that when you fo hit a pothole, the impact is spread out wider through the tire, so they resist damage better. The newer Apollo Air scooters have Aramid reinforced tires, which are pretty good as far as scooter tires go, but the Pro's tires should be significantly better. -Paul

      @@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide do u know where I can find some 10” self sealing tires for my kaabo wolf warrior x? Thanks

      That's a great question. Apollo has self sealing 10" tires on the City Pro, but I'm not 100% sure they would fit, or if you have to have an Apollo serial number to buy them.
      If there is any scooter in the world that will go 5 to 10k miles, this is it. I think this scooter is really targeting daily riding and super high miles. -Paul

      @@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide thanks! If they offer the explore or phantom with self sealing tires that might b a good option to!( more my price range) do u think 52v 30ah will make a huge difference? My wolf warrior is 60v/28ah and goes a bit slower up hills, I’m a 220lb rider. I thought about the city pro but 48v is not enough power for me or range. Thansk

    I love ergonomic handgrips, it’s the only improvement I’d make aside from an unrealistic 30 lb weight loss (I require stairs mobility).

    What’s the diameter of the handlebars? Are they compatible with universal bike accessories?

    It's crazy we're living in times where a 42mph scooter's not really considered all that fast. And its 0-30 speed is kinda on the "slow" side. I just ordered a Wolf King GT Pro and honestly, I don't think I'll ever have the cajones to try to hit top speed. I'm also a little chicken about the 0-30 speed the Wolf in mode 4 or 5 lol. 42's still super quick for normal non suicidal people. And the 7.9 0-30 here would still be pretty good. Maybe not blistering fast, but it also wouldn't make the tires chirp and the front one go airborne for a moment either.
    This looks like an awesome scooter, I love how your phone can become the screen, if Apollo lets you customize what's on the display it would be extra sweet.

      My Apollo Phantom V2 60V goes 43mph but the speed isn't for racing. In my opinion...it's dangerous to ride in the streets if you can't keep up with the flow of traffic light to light. Not every road has a bike lane or sidewalk and that's when at least 35mph of speed is needed to flow with traffic. I'd say going over 60mph on a scooter is about the limit cuz any accident at that speed can be fatal

      @@lamar310 While I agree about the speed on streets with no bike lane. I'd think if a cop wanted to pull you over for riding down a normal street like a car you'd probably end up losing your scooter. Or at least get a huge ticket.
      I know at least in So Cal they don't care about if you speed on a scooter in a bike lane. I don't know how they'll react to me flying 45 on my Wolf King down a non bike lane road lol. Hopefully they'd let me go with a stern warning.

      Yeah that's my issue with it too, the 0-30 for this price point. GT2 is 3.9s. I wish they would change that before release. at least add a boost mode that run for a short duration.

    Great looking scooter! Wonder if we'll be able to get it in the EU. Nice they keep the weight below 50kg aswell, the Segway GT-series is just too much vehicle for a standup scooter IMHO.
