    Segway Max G2 must be included as well in terms of safety because the TCS feature is a lifesaver. A tip for people looking buy a scooter:

    Need a category for Best Minimum Storage Space so the industry gets pressure to compete with Glion's Dolly & Dolly XL's upright folding, luggage handle, and dolly wheels arrangement so we can get one that's more ergonomic and higher performance without losing the tiny storage footprint.

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  4 месяца назад +1

      That's such a great subject. We've tried to come up with a metric for this one. The best metric we could find was to multiply L x W xH when folded to get the total folded area.
      I feel like folding handlebars are really underrated, but at the same time it takes a surprising amount of engineering to make electric scooter handlebars which fold quickly but also don't start wiggling at some point.
      Thanks so much for the feedback! We love hearing about which factors are top of mind for people when picking scooters! It's definitely not always about performance! -Paul

      Question for you. Did your range change when you put them on. I'm curious if the softer sidewalls (awesome ride quality though) and lower pressures result in significantly reduced range. I tested a scooter with them recently and the range was lower than I expected for the size of the battery. -Paul

    Great 2024 round-up video!
    As a commuter rider, I can vouch for Apollo City Pro 2023 as my main driver, and NIU KQi Air for portability, and stow-and-go trips.
    Just a reminder, every scooter I have owned (9 in total I think, including replacements), will have issues you have to deal with, and I've had to communicate with the manufacturer for every single one, so customer service is paramount.

      @@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      I got the KQi Air for it's portability, and build quality, as it's so lightweight and easy to stow-and-go.
      Does everything I expected it to, and serves it's purpose well.
      Anywhere I go with the family, whether it be to a park/hotel/camping trip etc, it can easily just be stored and maneuvered around in the trunk with or on top of other cargo, and I also have a KQi2 Pro to compare.
      I can fit both the Apollo City Pro and the KQi Air in the trunk of my CX-5 without having the seats folded down, and with soft cargo (duffel/tote bags etc).
      Great compliment to a transit commute as well where I live.
      High-up, 'protected' handlebar turn signal design is great, and anti-theft app features are the best in the business IMO.
      The folding mechanism is not as easy to latch as it's prior models, because where it latches, in the position you end up being, with your head above the latch, you can't see due to the handlebar front-plate and position, and have to feel around to adjust it, which is also not as intuitive, as you guys have already noted in your reviews.
      The anti-theft lights/alarm system is very sensitive, and takes some time getting used to.
      I have to disable the bluetooth link connection feature, because in the home, the lights will constantly trigger as BT is disconnected/reconnected if you go near with your phone, and just randomly if already in range.
      The alarm has to be disabled via the app every time you want to transport it, because even if you use your NFC card to unlock it and move it around, when it gets turned off, if it senses it's being moved around in your trunk, the alarm will sound, and while you're driving, it's annoying as it's much louder than previous models.
      Also, the turn-signals don't auto-turn off (like on the Apollo City Pro).
      The twist throttle is already a destabilizing hand grip, and the combination of using the turn signals with the twist throttle becomes even more destabilizing (also, I don't like to use cruise control).
      Range and power is acceptable.
      Got the best bike lock in the industry as well, a Litelok X3, and I can attach both the City Pro and KQi Air to a thick 2" bike rack/post easily with it.
      Great 2 scooter combo from my experience (1 year City Pro, 6 months KQi Air, both pre-ordered).
      EDIT: Some of the issues with the KQi Air were a turn signal screw fell out because of no suspension or thread locker, and the charger failed/died within 2 months of very limited use/ownership, and it took more than 2 months for NIU to ship me a new one after the RMA was approved.

    very informative! My budget is $1250, i need a scooter for me and my daughter (230lbs combined) with a seat that I can add a seat for her, we ride toghether. 40-50 MPH. What do you recommend?

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  4 месяца назад +1

      Wow, that's an interesting set of requirements. Unfortunately almost all scooters are designed for single riders. The only scooters I can think of that would be even close to safe to ride with two riders would be something like Voro Motors RoadRunner Pro, if it came with rear footpegs (I don't think it's an option). It's about twice your budget though.
      I strongly recommend not riding two-up on a scooter with 10 or 11 inch tires. I just don't think the stability will be there for you and your daughter. Even adding a factory seat to a smaller kick-scooter and riding it solo at those speeds sounds scary to me. They can get wiggly in a hurry if you lift a hand off of the handlebars to scratch your nose or adjust your glasses. I would definitely do a ton of research before buying anything and see if you can find someone who is doing exactly the kind of riding you want to do. Sorry I don't have a better answer. -Paul

      Thank you so much.
      We track average speed on all of the range tests we perform, but it’s a tricky number to throw out there without a ton of explanation next to it. The average speed of almost all of our range tests is around 18mph. But! I’m almost never riding at 18mph! It’s an urban range test, so there is a lot of speeding up and slowing down for stop signs and corners. My typical peak speed between corners is 25mph - 30mph on faster scooters and 20 to 25 on slower scooters. Of course on scooters which go less than 20 I’m just full throttle all the time, with the hills taking me down to 14 or 15mph sometimes. But if I say I rode a 60mph scooter at an average speed of 18mph people would think “nobody rides a fast scooter like that. But my goal when riding all of the scooters is to ride the way I think scooter owners would ride them. So I try to not ride them any particular way, but to ride the scooters the way the scooter wants to ride, if that makes sense. Most of the time the scooter will inspire a certain kind of riding.
      Our range test is probably tougher than it needs to be. It’s a 1.6 mile loop with 91 or 92 feet of elevation from the lowest to highest points. So it really punishes smaller scooters maybe a little harder than it needs to. But, when I arrived we had maybe 30 range tests on that route already, so we kept going.
      I’m always listening to other people’s reports of their range and have been pleased to hear that ours tends to be equal or slightly shorter than most people’s reported range, and that’s definitely what we’re going for.
      Anyway. I thought your sincere appreciation deserved a sincere and detailed response :-)
      Thanks so much for your support.

      Great scooter. We love the RS. We probably could have squeezed one more electric scooter under the heavy/tall riders category, because the Inmotion RS is such a great scooter for tall riders as is the RS Lite. We made the list a bit more broad this year and that meant fewer slots for the ultra-high performance scooters like the RS. -Paul

The reliability scores I assign to scooters take into account 11 factors including water resistance ratings, whether they’re UL listed, warranty length, parts availability, how had they are to work on, whether they have tubeless tires, split rims etc. I still score every scooter we test though I only mention the score in the review if it’s exceptionally good or bad.

The first batch are three of the smaller ones, but we hope to get our hands on some faster ones like the Thunder 3 at some point.
      We looooooove NAMI scooters and thing Michael Sha is a scooter genius. The Klima made two honorable mentions and in fact is one of the only scooters Mitchell took with him when he moved to Vegas.
      If we had a category for best electric scooter for racing, the BURN-E would have won hands down. I got dusted by a NAMI BURN-E at Riderfest. (Eric Wilson won the whole thing on his BURN-E).
      Come to think of it, we're overdue for a NAMI review. It's been over a year since we reviewed the Klima (March 2023).

      You should be able to get about 10,000 miles or more out of the battery. The first model, the G30 was known to sometimes use up the front wheel bearings, but that might be rain-riding related. Steep hills for long periods of time can sometimes damage controllers or motor wires, but they have gotten better at sensing this and turning down the power when needed. Tires wear out in 1000 to 3000 miles depending on how hard you use the brakes. -Paul

    Hey, new subscriber here. I want to buy a scooter for me to commute for work, but most of your scooter recommendations in this video didn't available in my country. Which one should i choose, Dualtron Togo (36v), or cheaper Segway D28 for around 8-10 miles range?
    Thanks

    I got the solar 3.0 from the honorable mentions. Seems like the best all-around scooter for my needs. Thanks for the video guys, it helped a ton!

    I'm missing 'most comfortable scooters'. For those of us who prioritize comfort over power, speed or range.

    Great video, but I was wondering why you put the kqi 2 pro instead of the kqi 3 pro for best beginner is there a reason behind that?

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  4 месяца назад

      Yes, because the NIU KQi2 has a drum front brake, so you can grab it as hard as you want without going over the handlebars. But it still stops very well. The NIU KQi3 Pro and Max are awesome, and I love the brakes, but the dual disc brakes can be a bit strong for new riders. -Paul

    For the teverun Fighter Supreme, is it the 7260r model or the new updated ultra model? I'm looking to purchase the ultra model and I'm hoping you guys review the ultra model as it has a much better water rating and has a better stem and everything else

      I just reached out to ask which one we’re getting and the answer wasn’t clear. I’m hoping the latest and fastest version is what comes. Alienrides is working on getting it to us. -Paul

      I received mine last week and rode for 400 km so far and rode at speed 2 at 71 km/hr and beside adjusting the suspension and balancing the wheels all is great so far. No high speed wobble on that one . Yes it is with 11 inch city tires. The fighter Supreme Ultra 7260 .

      Great to hear! I balanced the tires on the RX7 for the speed run. I'm really looking forward to testing the Teverun 7260 Fighter Supreme, or whichever version Alienrides sends to us. -Paul

    Cool video as always, never seen you test any iENYRID scooters and would be nice to see what you think...yea of course they don't compare to higher class scooters but are affordable and offer good specs, I have the ienyrid M4Pro S+ it does 28mph 330lbs max user....is my first scooter and if I do buy another it seems I will have to upgrade in a few features and pay alot more, unless I get a good deal...hope you test them

      Thank you so much for your suggestion. I love hearing about new brands. I'll look them up. Typically if we haven't tested a scooter it's because they don't have full distribution in the US or aren't selling enough of them here for them to want to reach out to us and send us a scooter for testing. -Paul

    Did you go full speed when measuring the range? (I'm mostly interested in the KQI3 MAX), thanks.

  • @TheJay1One
    @TheJay1One 4 месяца назад +2

    I have a question about the range: Is the range if you ride it on top speed and top acceleration consistently?

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  4 месяца назад +1

      The range is in top performance mode on a very hilly course. Riding at the speed I think riders would use in a city. Basically car speed for the fast scooters and full speed for the slower ones. It’s Berkeley though, so my peak speeds are only just above 30mph on the fast ones. -Paul

    You missed a WORTHY contender scooter : the *INMOTION RS*

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  26 дней назад +1

      You’re right. The RS and the Klima should have had spots somewhere on the list. It’s tricky because we decide the categories first and then see which scooters pop to the top. The RS just wasn’t quite the top of the particular lists we chose, but it’s an amazing scooter and one of the best looking scooters ever. It’s even better looking in person. -Paul
