I made a mistake in my script. I say that, before Devil World, Shigeru Miyamoto and Nintendo R&D1 had only made arcade games. This is not true. What I meant is that Devil World is their first video game that is neither an arcade game nor a sports game. Prior to Devil World, they had also developed three of the Famicom's launch titles: Baseball, Tennis, and Golf. You can guess why my brain had kind of forgotten those three!
Wonderful video essay extrapolating from an obscure video game. Exactly the sort of thing I subscribed for. Sadly still underrated.
Also the next game is what?!
omg new Famicom adventures? ive only just watched the No smoking one, still thinking on what to say in the comment.
Well, this little adventure seems a lot like Zelda. Down to the concept of "same person reincarnating to the same hell". Someone sure had Buddhism on their mind, like, a lot (makes sense, considering the culture, but still).
Anyway I love your running joke with Dosuru. I'm glad I've seen the original video, in fact i wish more people seen it so i could reference it freely (since i too love to half-jokingly over analyze frivolous media)
oh shit I was actually slicing onions while I had this on
To be fair if they remade this game I think it would do well.
