I bought an older crf450 last week, on my way to supermoto transformation, should be completed soon. Already in love with it, never would have bought it unless l found your channel!!
When I was like 13 or 14 my first bike was a '69 husqvarna Super Rat with a metal chrome gas tank and a rusted out cylinder. My dad got me a '72 Husq Wombat from a junkyard that was in better shape... and I swapped parts from the Super Rat to the Wombat until I got it running and riding. The cops pulled me over one day after I was riding in the local park like a hooligan, and made me push my bike home. Before then I used to go to the library a lot and read this book about a kid's day going to the motocross track... he had a Super Rat in the book so that was kind of cool.
Loving my ‘22 500 EXCF. One thing I never expected is how much fun it is to ride on the road. Would like to have the option of setting it up as super moto at some point.
Hey cruza ! I am an older rider who has been a subscriber to your channel for years and I really enjoy your vids. I gotta say I happened to catch some of the vids you made in the last couple of years recently where you explain how you get the money to buy your bikes & got out of debt & pay cash for everything .They are really inspiring .I started riding when I was 9,then started racing motocross at 12 . I have owned around 30 bikes in my lifetime so far but I never owned a super moto. Unless you can call a heavily modded Honda CRF50 with big bars, seat, suspension and street tires and rear pegs and a handbrake one! If you have never owned a little Honda CRF50 (I know you dont like Hondas anymore) but They are a blast for adults ! Would love to see you make a vid converting one into a mini moto and flying around on it! They are wheelie machines! I really respect you for promoting safety on your vids . I will definitely be getting that inflatable vest .I happen to live in one of the deadliest States to street ride .FLORIDA ! I also rode in NY for a decade and that place is no picnic either. Keep making vids and we will keep watching them . Stay safe all my fellow bikers out there.
CC can you do some test rides on your YZ on highways, high speed and long distance etc? I love the idea of a SM, but in the real world here in UK and Europe we get shit weather half the year, rain and roadspray, winds and buffeting etc etc, and you need protection from all that. Its fine if you just ride around the neighborhood like you do! Also the sheer acceleration and handling of a sport bike can get you out of trouble a lot of times - not sure a SM would do that.. Stay safe CC :)
Well yeah, weather will affect you more on a supermoto in ways, but less in other ways. They are way better on slippery surfaces. Also, as far as getting out of trouble goes, have you ever jumped a large ditch , ridden through a corn field, creek bed, over tall curbs at speed on a sportbike? Of course all this depends on your surroundings but almost everywhere except the interstate, supermoto is better at getaways.
I just got a drz400sm 2 months ago, if it's your first bike, it's all the fun you'll want. The speed is fine, it's more than enough to get killed on, the 6th gear isn't that important, since you don't want to be on the highway. Doing over 70 mph sucks with wind on light bikes. I paid 6k and very worth it, in 2 years maybe I'll sell it to get a 450 and I'll get 6k easy for it again
Never ridden a supermoto, but I'mma check it out. I test rode a KTM six days That bike ripped!! the seat was uncomfortable as heck on a long ride. I just had a guy offer me a 2018 DRZ400SM plus give me $4000 cash on top. But it was rough. Abused, backyard mechanic'd, over-sprayed, lever ends broken off and from a tow yard. I passed lol.
got a klx300 last year, rode it 400 miles and started hitting the track right away haha. probably will get a 690/701 once prices get somewhat normal again. no desire to get any other type of bike, just more power and maybe 25% better on the freeway and I'll be good.
I learned more about maximum handling on my klx250sf than all of my other bikes combined. When your riding with liter bikes, you learn to carry your speed through every corner. That thing will back in with such precision and consistency. With the right tires it will drift quite happily at 80 mph
Coming from naked bikes, my previous being a street triple R, i currently have an Aprilia Dorsoduro 900 and it might be a "super size - Supermoto" but man is it fun riding around town lol
I had the unfortunate experience of riding the KLX 300SM on a highway and it was downright unsafe. Happened during a demo ride (Kawasaki Good Times Demo tour) which involved a stretch of the highway. No passing power whatsoever (tops out at 80-85 MPH) and gets thrown around as semi's and trucks overtake you.
Depends on the highway. I'm a mediocre sportbike rider, but put me on the dragon or similar mountain road on a klx300sm and I can outrun 80 to 95 percent sportbikes. That's assuming no cars get in the way, because you are 100% right about passing power.
80-85 mph is pretty good for a 292 cc single bore engine. Don't blame the bike for getting blown on the highway. If you want a heavy bike, go get a heavy bike. FS 450 supermoto is only 232 lb, KLX300SM 304 lbs is still heavy to me. You don't get a 300 cc bike for highway passing prowess.
@@MTMgrindd I've got a licensed fire arm and 5 aggressive dogs and security cameras all over my property!.but for u I suggest chaining your motorcycle to a solid pol and get cameras with motion detection .
Dude, you are so right on. I've had 01 drz400e supermoto, 09 klx250sm, 21 ktm690smc-r. All were way more fun in the mountains where I live. Am currently building a 12 rmz450 supermoto. Can't wait until it's tagged. I have to say, there is nothing better than outrunning liter bikes in the twisties on a 19hp thumper so bad you have time to park, take off your gloves, helmet, and jacket before they pull up lol. The looks you get are hilarious
You should do a track day at a supermoto or kart track. Ride that supermoto the way it wants to be ridden. Would be great content for your channel too.
I had a Husquarna TE501, when its not broken its the best bike I ever had, problem is it breaks down every two weeks. I now have a KTM 690 SMC, a bit more weight but much much less shit to worry about.
Nice! And those are street-legal stock. The main reason I got a Yamaha is because everybody told me the valves don't move and I don't like to wrench a lot. I have not even checked the valves one time since I bought it in Sept 2018. It actually rides better now than it did brand new. The KTM 500 EXC is really nice though, I need to add a KTM. I might try the 690 SMC R for the heck of it but I'm never getting rid of my YZ unless its for a new YZ.
@@CycleCruza Probably a good idea to check your valve clearance to be safe. A two stroke would be cool for the channel but hard to justify if you dont have good single track to ride nearby. 2 strokes are a blast, and many people run Smart carbs that compensate for conditions like efi but are more simple and quicker to tune. saw an Indian FTR in person days ago, sick bike, but not cheap, guy said almost $20k i think... The drz400 and dr650 are also cool bikes that have amazing aftermarket if you ever wanted to do an adv bike build, im thinking of getting a dr650. Crosstraining Enduro of Australia is a great youtube channel with offroad riding tips and a cool Dr650 build series, pretty funny as well. The SWM, Beta, and Husky 450s/500 are also interesting bikes as well, no point in having 2 450s though, but they are interesting options for those in the market. I wish we had more big bore single options, just the old 650s and the 690/701 now. On the dr650 they have a 790 big bore kit!😯
@@CycleCruza 50 state street legal stock dual sports, I converted mine to supermoto. It's not as powerful as a 450 top end but the torque is insane and so fun from the bigger bore and SOHC engine. You do need to uncork due to emissions and it being 50 state legal but it's a great option
I don’t have a dirt bike, never have. But I have been riding street bikes for 10 years, I want a 450 for supermoto and am curious.. know how to ride and have great throttle and clutch control. I should be fine getting a 450? I’m not a new rider just new to dirt bikes.
After getting my s1000rr and knowing are roads in Cleveland it’s like a obstacle course for you missing these potholes it would definitely be fun on a bike like yours lol
The s1000rr is a really nice and fast bike but in Cleveland you'll have more fun on a supermoto which is a great urban vehicle. Potholes are horrible all over NE Ohio but the worst in inner-city Cleveland.
When you went into the superlightweight and that clip with the high viz fly jersey what pants are those? Also are those sidi boots ? Much apreciated thanks.
@cyclecruza I really want to buy a super Moto But I live in Atlanta and im scared someone will just pick it up and carry to a truck and steal it. What should I do?
Hey man, just wondering if you ever found a solution to the brake line getting caught on the Baja designs headlight. I have the same setup and it’s super annoying
Coming from a SMCR owner. U can not compare the 690 to a 450. You are missing out man. I feel bad for u lol. The 690, with an exhaust, rotweiler intake, power commander 5 , sas delete fuel dongel and a tune....is seriously unbelievable. U Will fucking scream and yell words of joy. It's wild dude. Please get one . I'm telling u. If u like that 450. The TX3 will blown ur mind. TX3= KTM 690 SMCR. It was named the TX3( triple threat) when KTM had it as a concept.. the rear mounted gas tank. Is amazing man. It actually helps u wheelie and it keeps u planted in turns, it keeps weight on the back tire which allows u really push it around turns, twisties, etc etc. It has a QUICK SHIFTER....I hit a jump at 80mph...i went about 5ft high..(definitely over car height, because I passed 3 while Air Bourne) lmao. This bike is unreal. Definitely get one. Just don't treat it like a 450 or it will treat scare the shit out of u. Mine threw my friend on his back. He got in 2nd, opened it up into 3rd....BOOM.. is tossed him off like an angry bull.
While I have had both, and totally agree with you that a 690 is much more bike, it is also unfortunately, much more bike. I just sold my 21 smc-r and absolutely loved it, but to me, it was only halfway supermoto. FANTASTICLY halfway yes. I guess it all depends on where and how you ride. The smcr is definitely a better commuter/traveler. The 450s are just so raw. That is why all the pros race 450/500
I haven't had mine in the trails yet. But again. Coming from Someone with over 25 years in strictly dirt riding, I feel it's a bit to much...but definitely would be a Fucking blast...now it will probably be amazing in mode 1...I put 5000miles on my SMCR so far...and I've never even tried mode 1. My bike has never been in mode 1. But that will make it better for sure....and remember! YOU CAN turn the Eduardo R. Into the SMCR...BUT the SMCR can not be turned into the ENDURO...it doesn't work. Get the one u want. And eat a good breakfast first !!!
I did some rough Ozark mtn atv trails on my 21 smcr and was surprised at how well it did. Mostly 1st and 2nd gear stuff. Did have tkc 70s on it which did pretty good up front not so much in back. The wp suspension surprised me how well it transferred from pavement to loose rocky trails. I did drop it once though. That being said, my drz400e sm with shinko 705s would spank it on the same trails. Partially because I didn't care if I dropped it.
I love watching the transitions between bikes. I did the same with cars. Cruza is a really dude just stating facts and collecting a few bills for sharing that knowledge.
Remember, when you convert to sumo, the seat height drops quite a bit. I would be too short for a 450 too, but it only weighs 230lbs so I just lean it when I stop.
Get supermoto, way lighter and can take a beating. If you don't want to do a supermoto build just get a KTM 690 SMC R, Husqvarna 701 Supermoto, DRZ400SM, Kawasaki KLX300Sm or a KTM 500 EXC. Doing a build is fun though.
It's not possible to turn most 450s into street legal bikes in the EU, the DRZ is not available for 10+ years, so I settled for the 701 SM. DRZ vs YZF450 track test, btw: ruclips.net/video/eXq5DJ29_24/видео.html
Nice bike! For some reason I left that off the list. What I like about mine over the KTM is you can count on a yamaha valves not moving, less maintenance and Yamaha parts are cheaper and easier to come by. Also, the 19+ YZ450FX has better centralized weight with a center fuel tank that makes the bike feel even lighter. Also, you can tuned the YZ450FX engine performance easy with your smart phone. The KTM is street legal right out of the box for all 50 states though.

CC haven't you done a video on this already lol. Waiting for you to hit that track!
Supermoto for the city driving not highway
80's mph on a 292cc is not bad.
Wrong tactics gotta stay in the slow lane at 65 and then use the extra power when necessary instead of keeping it 70-75+
I own a drz400 sm full fmf decals kit and fmf powerbomb header with leovince slip-on exhaust tip looks amazing and sounds great 👍.
I live in a high crime city
How can I keep bike thieves from carrying the bike to a truck because it’s so lightweight??
@@MTMgrindd I've got a licensed fire arm and 5 aggressive dogs and security cameras all over my property!.but for u I suggest chaining your motorcycle to a solid pol and get cameras with motion detection .
Also my motorcycles I can see them from my room window clearly so I just need to look out and shot anyone trying to steal them .
Just bought a 2022 ktm 500 exc-f and I love it. Coming from a sport bike background the dual is way more fun.
CycleCruza, have you checked out the 2022 YZ450FX ? Man it's SICK! I can see you on it right now Bro!
I was lucky enough to find one last year it's a lot of fun on and off road!
*NEW VIDEO:* Supermoto vs Dual Sport - Which is BETTER?:
ruclips.net/video/tUU0KnTMMEo/видео.html
Love my 500 exc. Hi performance supermoto is a truly a different experience
I want one!! .... happy 4th CycleCruza and everyone, be safe and have fun!! 😃💪❤️
Dude you need to buy a new motorcycle for your channel. I love the supermoto I really do but it's time for a new motorcycle
*NEW VIDEO:* Why they HATE on a SUPERMOTO:
ruclips.net/video/u4rMzleznf4/видео.html
I don’t have a dirt bike, never have. But I have been riding street bikes for 10 years, I want a 450 for supermoto and am curious.. know how to ride and have great throttle and clutch control. I should be fine getting a 450? I’m not a new rider just new to dirt bikes.
Cycle cruiser the fully enclosed motorcycle cover that you had for your WR250 that you could zip-up where did you get that from
After getting my s1000rr and knowing are roads in Cleveland it’s like a obstacle course for you missing these potholes it would definitely be fun on a bike like yours lol
The s1000rr is a really nice and fast bike but in Cleveland you'll have more fun on a supermoto which is a great urban vehicle. Potholes are horrible all over NE Ohio but the worst in inner-city Cleveland.
@@CycleCruza my fun is limited to 480 lol
Would a super Moro be a good first bike? (Also, is maintenance easier if I’m not racing it?)
Cycle Cruza , Do you have any opinions on the Kawasaki KLX300 dual sport version ?
I'm seriously thinking about picking one up.
So true. I've never had so much fun on my 690.
Does Yamaha make a Supermoto with blinkers and such
Love my sumo! Wish I saw more of them on the road.
When you went into the superlightweight and that clip with the high viz fly jersey what pants are those? Also are those sidi boots ? Much apreciated thanks.
@cyclecruza I really want to buy a super Moto
But I live in Atlanta and im scared someone will just pick it up and carry to a truck and steal it.
What should I do?
Comfortable top cruise speed? 2 lane highways ok without screaming? Thanks
In my state (Maryland) there's a loophole, if you buy a bike brand new you don't have to get it inspected
it looks like you have a backpack with a water tube coming off of it. Which one is that, and does that work with the inflatable vest?
I want a KLX 300 dual sport for commuting and exploring all the trails boiii!
Hey man, just wondering if you ever found a solution to the brake line getting caught on the Baja designs headlight. I have the same setup and it’s super annoying
Nice video and motorcycle. I have a FZ-09, and I'm thion selling it and getting a crf300l
I want a YZ 250 with BRC 500 kit on it. I think it would make a sick Supermoto!✌👍😁
Just got a 2020 drz400sm pretty dope
Nice! I'm thinking about adding a second supermoto because I love them so much. Stay safe!
Drz is the best!
How much fid this 450 cost you in total ?
you should convert a kx 450 so you have a green supermoto too, that would be clean af
Dreaming to have one.
I love watching the transitions between bikes. I did the same with cars. Cruza is a really dude just stating facts and collecting a few bills for sharing that knowledge.
Can I slap the rear?
I’m not getting rid of my gsxr but I absolutely love my SM
I’m way too short for a 450 🤣
So I just went with a 150cc dirt bike I’m going to convert to a Sumo
Remember, when you convert to sumo, the seat height drops quite a bit. I would be too short for a 450 too, but it only weighs 230lbs so I just lean it when I stop.
currently making my 11 450 husaberg into a sumo.
I like hitting jumps, but that's when the crashes start to get gnarly. Not that 165 mph into a guard rail isn't gnarly.
Supermotos are great!
Supermotos are the best so long as Cyclecruza likes them. When he stops liking them, "the ugly truth about supermotos" will come out.
I love it!
In my opinion supermoto is the best bike ever hands down .doesn't Matter what brand get one .
Saludos desde guerrero zihuatanejo me gustaría que pusiras subtitulado a español pa q pueda entender
Tempted to get a naked bike then put supermoto wheels on it
Get supermoto, way lighter and can take a beating. If you don't want to do a supermoto build just get a KTM 690 SMC R, Husqvarna 701 Supermoto, DRZ400SM, Kawasaki KLX300Sm or a KTM 500 EXC. Doing a build is fun though.
sumo is life
Your bar end bolt is hanging off the handlebar!
It's not possible to turn most 450s into street legal bikes in the EU, the DRZ is not available for 10+ years, so I settled for the 701 SM.
DRZ vs YZF450 track test, btw:
ruclips.net/video/eXq5DJ29_24/видео.html
Before I watch this, is this going to be followed by a video called "why a 450 SM is the worst" ???
5hr rebuild intervals?
Never give up gas
brothers and sisters!! F thaaaaat!! 🤘😃😃😃😃
Hi how ya doing
Doing great and you? I hope you have a great 4th! Stay safe.
I’ve owned just about everything but a super moto...honestly I don’t do the dirt, I have to say I’m to old for that style
How can I talk to you on the phone ? I'm an old friend...
BUD - '08' Blue Kawasaki Ninja Zx10r
You mean a handicapped dual sport? No thanks.
Tried the supermoto thing got bored with it
I'm Yamaha Xenter best city ride. Fer me
Nice! Scooters are fun to scoot around the city.
Id love one but supermoto's arnt designed for short riders
500exc is best build
The KTM is street legal right out of the box for all 50 states though.
there to slow tho
