Kathal, also known as jackfruit, is a large tropical fruit . It is the largest tree-borne fruit and has a spiky, green exterior. When ripe, the fruit's flesh is sweet and fragrant, often compared to a combination of pineapple, mango, and banana. In its unripe form, kathal is often used as a meat substitute in vegetarian and vegan dishes due to its fibrous texture, which is similar to that of pulled chicken. Kathal is a versatile ingredient and is used in a variety of savory dishes, including curries, stir-fries, and even as a filling for sandwiches and tacos.
