@Anthony-uk4fq actually, its the complete opposite. Steps are irrelevant, and distance is what matters.
Steps are just an (extremely) approximate measurement, but a more accurate measurement is to use the lawn squares in the turf, which are roughly 9 metres. He travelled through well over 2 of those (at least 18 metres even to the naked eye) between the bounce and the kick.
As a crows fan, I am so annoyed. I tipped Collingwood by 3. Damnit.
Might be their best win of the season. They looked gassed and still found a way.

I’m no Collingwood hater, but “undefeated since their loss to St Kilda in round 2” and “Undefeated against depleted teams” is a whole lot different. Their win against Port was good, their draw with Essendon was good, and their win today was good.
Not saying the pies aren’t good, but it’s a tight comp, and the chances they go back to back is significantly low

Interstate teams do have to travel more, yes, but they also get true home games, which is a greater advantage than travelling less.
If you win 10 of your home games, split your rival games at 1-1, and beat North Melbourne away, that's 12 wins to get you into finas. Boo hoo, you get flown around Australia in a jet like a Rock.Star. First World problems at their best.
Another thing you are failing to mention is that the AFL WANT Collingwood at the MCG. They would prefer all 22 games there, as WE pay the bills. The top 10 crowds ever have all involved the Pies. Stop your baseless winging.

I'm suprised the Ump'y did'nt pay Collingwood 50m for Rankine kicking the ball away on the run. LOL. The AFL need to introduce a 'Captains call' and allow one challenge per quarter from club captain's , with decisions going to Video Ref'.

Captains call will never happen, unfortunately. You cant just stop the ball on the spot at the will of the team not in possession, let me give an example. A scenario like this, close game, one goal in it, and the losing team gets a breakaway, theres no one stopping their player from running into an open goal. The captain signals for a captains call for something minor that they knew wasnt actually an issue, and suddenly that open goal can get flooded with defenders while they take the time to review.
Sounds good in theory, not so much in practice, i fear.

The rules are the ball has to touch the ground every 15 metres, rather than 15 steps. True, Rankine did bounce the ball once shortly after taking possession. But I think he needed one more bounce in there to make it a legal run.

Want to clear this up, rankine ran 19 meters after taking the bounce, run too far fair and square. They were not robbed. The umpires loved Adelaide all day long.

1) Rankin ran too far BUT
2) Why call it? Remember when Jetta and Rioli had that sprint along the wing in the 2012 GF and it was bloody epic and that match was absolutely rad? Probably had 3 bounces in 80m. And no one cares.

Umpires gave them the chance when they didn’t ping Keane a few minutes earlier. Richard’s would’ve gone on to kick the goal.
