Basically it will eventually fail and leak. If it’s not installed per the engineered specs, it will not do what it’s supposed to do which is efficiently drain water. Might look okay to the eye but you gotta install thoroughly and per the engineers specs, and with some damn pride and consideration for the people paying you money to do it correctly..

Have contingency escape clauses drawn up by a lawyer on all signed contracts (inspectors don't have x-ray vision). The realtor is not your friend. By law (usa) they are required to disclose known defects but they don't. Stay out of court by covering your bases. Cheers.

The QBCC is absolutely useless, I had an QBCC inspector look at my place and if I didn’t point out issues he wouldn’t have done anything about the water leaks, all box guttering, wish I had of known about you.

Its all about the cheapest price nothing else. I pass on many jobs when I wont drop my price. Might be able to get it done cheaper but it isnt to the same standard. You want 30 years experience and a fair price or 3 years experience and a rock bottom price.

Box gutters shouldnt be legal cause builders get it wrong every time

I've seen so many roof designs from engineers that don't comply off the plan... I believe around 80% of roofing problems are created at design stage. I've had to fix roof designs with roofs falling towards internal walls. I mean the design "looks" nice but its not functional. (ie. Macarthy Homes has a few designs like this). Engineers need to learn that roofs falling towards internal walls requiring box gutters will become a problem within 5-10 years requiring the roofing sheets to be lifted and a new box gutter to be installed at massive cost. If you can..... steer clear of internal and box gutters! They create too many problems, even if installed correctly.

how the hell do you maintenance a house like this? There is a week worth of caulking just on the roof. It's actually just *designed* to leak

This looks like most of the roofing was done by the labourer off of gumtree for 25 an hr and the boss left the 3rd yr in charge of him to sort it 🤣

imagine spending 3-5 mil and the roof falls apart because of water. It's cheaply constructed with cheap materials and charged for size.

Over complicated building designs from engineers and trade persons that dont have skills, time or work ethic to do the job correctly. Houses with flat roofs and box gutters look like houses to avoid.

After watching a few videos it seems to me that either people are poorly trained, cutting corners for cost or the Australian codes are far too complicated and reference too many areas of the code at once making it difficult to follow. Having said that here in Canada with a ton of severe winter conditions with ice and snow we have a whole lot better educated construction force and very strict inspections as well as a seven year warranty on poor construction events. Hard to believe some of the work I see in your videos. How about pre-built factory gutter systems that could be installed and shower pans that meet your codes? You could then change your standard comment to "compliant" LOL Cheers mate. Great work!

I'm a fan but the last couple of videos haven't been as good. They've focused on more witty banter and less on interesting commentary on the defects, and explaining why they're bad. Also the multimillion dollar homes of wealthy friends arent as relatable to watch
