Yep, in fact they have to determine the severity level of the breach and which category it sits in, cosmetic or structural; the only way to do that is to predict the consequence and sharing that with the client that paid them to explain what a building breach is! Of course an engineer's assesment following that report becomes the legally required fix, but there's no law on earth stopping an inspector from explaining why a small leak in a window frame can lead to the wall collapsing.

We purchased a solid brick home built in 1969, a couple years ago. My partners a contractor and takes so much pride in his work. He comes home raging about the absolute state of new builds on a regular basis, there was no way, even with all the first time buyer incentives, we wouldn't touch them!
I am hoping to start my home renovations this year. Finding a good builder is like a walk in a mine field. I am shit scared of getting a dodgy builder and ending up in a situation like this poor lady. I hope she gets it sorted. How bad would it be to hate your new house even before you've moved in!
"This is not how it's normally done". It's my house, if I want 17 independent inspections to scrutinise _your_ work, I'll do that. Quit trying to eavesdrop and interject. Some builders need to learn how to do their work properly to begin with and if there's problems, don't take it so personally. There shouldn't be problems, but there's always going to be something. Own it, fix it, move on.
Because the trade schools are required to teach only to the AQF minimum. I knew of a TAFE teacher who taught brickwork and his students were doing advanced techniques. The teaching assessor noted it was above the AQF standard (even though the course assessment was to AQF level). The teacher was industry retired but wanted to give back to the kids. The students liked learning from him. The edict was to stop doing the extra stuff. The industry is shite because it has has decades of learning the minimum.
Ah yes, the builder’s catch 22: to keep the inspector from being allowed onto the site to declare it unsafe, you’re forced to declare it unsafe yourself
The builder, knows he's job. He has quoted on a job from the engineers drawings. Here's the thing, 22:3822:38 they accept the job, then they try to get the materials and workmanship well under what they fought it would cost them. Once you sign, your in for a ride.
Soo the site supervisor wants them to follow white card laws exactly, but don't think the builders have to follow any other laws/ regulations in actually building a property to spec
If you build your stuff properly, then when an inspector comes shows up you simply say, "Welcome and have fun.". No drama, no tension, simple and easy.
There’s more and more of this going on and is truly stressful for the owners. I had a list of issues with minor things but I didn’t know the builder was adding 35k of “extras” on to the final payment. I refused this and asked for a copy of every invoice and also reminded him he could take this to VCAT. I couldn’t find any “extras” and he gave up and fixed the final invoice less 35k.
"I've never heard of your guys before" and "never dealt with you before". Champ will definitely know who Site Inspections are after this. I'm very curious what his acquaintances told him about SI.

We’re big fans mate, you are doing a great thing chasing down these dodgey builders
They sound like used car salesmen.
There was a time in Australia where houses were built like the coliseum in Italy, now there being built like the leaning tower of Pisa.
That's a stretch mate. There were solid houses built mid-century, solid houses were built all over the world mid-century.
We purchased a solid brick home built in 1969, a couple years ago. My partners a contractor and takes so much pride in his work. He comes home raging about the absolute state of new builds on a regular basis, there was no way, even with all the first time buyer incentives, we wouldn't touch them!
No, the leaning tower still stands after hundreds of years, these will be lucky if they last thirty
New developments would love to be compared to the leaning tower, their builds will be lucky too see out the decade.
I am hoping to start my home renovations this year. Finding a good builder is like a walk in a mine field. I am shit scared of getting a dodgy builder and ending up in a situation like this poor lady. I hope she gets it sorted. How bad would it be to hate your new house even before you've moved in!
if he is running the site, means he is responsible for all those mess. And he will be the one lost his liscense from it. 😂😂😂
Just admitting he never paid for the 2 - 3 hour thorough inspection he's supposed to do when you adopt a partly completed build.
So this sorry excuse for a builder took the job over but didn't bother to rectify the previous faults. Sack him.
Grr that second dodgy man is so nasty... Passive aggressive
Wow the building standards have dropped over the years
Because the trade schools are required to teach only to the AQF minimum.
For the amounts of money involved, it’s frightening how difficult it appears to get a competent build of a new home.
Feel sorry for this woman, she’s being screwed over by the builder, you can tell they don’t like that she wants a compliant house, unbelievable!
He's going to learn to watch the internet after this upload 😅
Ah yes, the builder’s catch 22: to keep the inspector from being allowed onto the site to declare it unsafe, you’re forced to declare it unsafe yourself
poor lady, hasnt moved in yet and hates the place, I hope everything works out
The builder, knows he's job. He has quoted on a job from the engineers drawings. Here's the thing, 22:38 22:38 they accept the job, then they try to get the materials and workmanship well under what they fought it would cost them. Once you sign, your in for a ride.
Man, passive aggressive bullies are the worst.
This woman is amazing!
Lol a dodgy builder telling an experience inspector how to do inspections.
How is the lead up to 1st major non - compliance 7:11, was the longest gotcha moment -LOL>
Went straight to "well i took this job over" 😂😂😂😂
"The contract allows them to move in without an OC" - red flag
(the local council doesn't... lol...)
Good video thanks Zahir
oh yes, with hold all payments. lets gooooooo
Hurry ..come to Newcastle and Hunter Valley plenty of shit here.
Your client's face is clearly visible at 21.52 (in the mirror) and 21:56 (corner of the screen) when the blur glitches out
man i feel sorry for her. new houses are poor quality
First guy so used to getting his way with BS and lies. Gets absolutely outplayed. Bravo.
Where is the VBA
"I've never heard of your guys before" and "never dealt with you before". Champ will definitely know who Site Inspections are after this. I'm very curious what his acquaintances told him about SI.
I laughed so hard as you quietly start pulling up the photos in the corner while he's busy trying to obfuscate the situation.
Notice how he was incharge then you show him problems and he said well i just took it over 😂
FN Adds are next level bro
You are just awesome, Love your videos!
GOOD OLD LADDER SITTING IN THE PUBLIC WALKWAY 🤣
these site inspections SHOULD be done by workcover with the independent inspectors
I've been a builder, and an inspector... I never understand the issue. Now if a builder turns me away I automatically fail you.
That guy “let the inspection do his job. Don’t point things out to him” haha. Wtf? He’s hoping the inspector doesn’t notice things. Dodgy AF
I feel like Mr Site Inspector was being a very very devious and naughty man offering that rag!!!
🤣🤣🤣
Builders need to be easier to sue. And i work in the industry.
This guy just talked, trying to obfuscate
'I'm not on the internet' said no one ever
Maybe he watches ACA
"We'll decide what we will and won't rectify" what a turd
Ha- white cards are only for people conducting construction work. Not visitors.
5:15 White cards are required for working on construction sites; visitors without a white card that are not working onsite can accompany someone, such as a building inspector, that has a white card.
Seems like the obvious first response would be to say if you stand by your work you should have no problems with an inspection.
How did houses ever stay standing before you guys came along. Love to see a house built by this inspector. Fair to say they have a template with common but not critical issues.
Your audio outside is NON COMPLIANT.
Couldnt really hear what was being said with all the wind
never building a house in this country
- or owner build - then you get to hire the subbies who will work for you, not Herr Shonkster...
might be the only way to go nowadays
@@hannesRSA- Same here. I get the most harmless stuff removed. They’re unbearable now.
The first guy actually seemed pretty reasonable.
"this is not the way this normally works", in the world where he got away for all the shoddy work...
