After going through all the gasket mount foam stuff over the years, I actually ended up going back to enjoying the clacky dry sound of some good old top mount, and I guess that's the direction of the hobby now too
Yeah exactly. My only constant is that I liked inks on thock.. but I also like inks on top mount. And o ring.

imo one of the prettiest TKLs I’ve seen, though I like it minimal! Seems like a lot of work was done by the designer going through a lot of prototypes to refine the design! Wish I was into TKLs, but they’re just too big for me. Also loving the sound of the PP plate!
The PP plate is super nice! And yes the designer has been working hard to make a good final package
I dunno, I think I personally prefer top + o-ring for this build, but just top mount sounds good, too. Also think I need a board with a PP plate now, or for a third-party vendor to just start making PP plates for every keyboard.

i know this question may be dumb but what is the cable he is using in the video and what type of aviator is that it looks nice
I love it that EC kits be popping up left right center recently, which is something new for the hobby. Hopefully QK/Jris have more affordable options for EC kits for newbies like me to try them out.

Will TX AP stabs help with my spacebar rattle? My GMK caps have a little warping on the spacebar though :
I’ve had good experiences with tx AP but not everyone has. But I’d personally trust tx AP to fix rattle yes. But some gmk bars are just too far gone

Why is tighter switch spacing not as popular? I think it’s more comfortable.

I tried to hold my Cloudline up with one hand like Andy holding the Calla. My hand is to small to hold it like Andy and I had to put down!

@@AndyVNguyen I don’t think its bad by any means. If anything this classic style of tkl becomes more accessible to people who want to try it. Lowering the barrier to entry.
I've never heard of boards with a tighter switch spacing. Does it limit the keycap profiles you can use?
For the board it's hard to justify the cost over the chinese made alu cnc boards unless you want the EC option.

For some reason the tighter switch spacing turns me off. I know it's one of the stand out features of this board, but idk, straying from what's standard is a no go for me. All prefrence though.
definitely. i'm kind of indifferent about it. it does look "cleaner" though. at the very least, less cheeto dust on your plate?
Personally I don't think hallowness is a bad thing. Gasket mount foamed up keyboards on the other end sound dead and muted. There's no character, all you hear is the plastic keycap tapping the platic switch. That's it. Both are good though, I just feel hallowness isn't a bad thing and I feel like people saying muted = thock = best most optimal keyboard are just wrong
There's like diff kinds of hollow for sure.
@@AndyVNguyen true, good point. Some hallow boards like tgr jane or duck boards are considered amazing but other lower tier boards can make it sound cheap. I suppose it's the same with gaskets too, like the mount design of gmmk pro vs ai03 vega is pretty big but still has the same concept. Good and bad ways to design a rectangle

i kinda like this board overall BUT like you said, there are so many other tkls out there with a similar design concept that its just gonna be so hard to sell man, i get that it is a bit cheaper compared to stuff like the jane v2 me, cloudline, bias etc but they all sound better and look more aesthetically pleasing imo, but i can appreciate that classic top mount sound. and i reckon there will soon be more cycle 7 price point boards offering a similar experience to the calla or just top mount tkls in general. the topre compatibility is pre rare tho so that could be a selling point ig? not sure how effective itll be tho. also damn another upload ALREADY?? pop off king

I think $450 is too much for what you are getting in this board. It looks basic and boring outside and the inside is cool. $250 is the most that I would pay for that tkl.
The Frog Tkl is cheaper and I don't think that its better than that board.
