honestly I was a longtime holdout and cherry agnostic, but ended up buying a feng break in machine and have sent a few batches of blacks and a batch of browns through, and I have been converted. When not overlubed, there is something special about the cherry sound. I don’t think it’s worth it for the overwhelming majority of folks in the hobby, and even broken in, they’re still scratchier than most any other switch I’ve used, but I dig them a lot!
That cherry blend of nylon top is everything for the sound
It's impossible to argue for value, because that's not even a talking point when it comes to boards like this. I see it as a "super enthusiast" product. Marketed towards those that only stick to a select number of brands or are just looking to blow their money on the most expensive thing they can get their hands on.
Exactly! You get it
But it doesn't offer really anything unique or a level of quality to warrant that price. I'd take a neo over this 😂
Yeah, nowadays I go for aesthetics or because I like the designer more than the sound and feel aspect of boards. Especially since you can almost always tweak sound/feel (to a certain extent), but it's much harder to tweak aesthetics
this
For that price it'd better come with an artisan at least.
That would have eased the pain a little, maybe
it would be nice if they do
It did there was a custom unique badge inside each
Artisan
I think at a certain price point beyond a threshold, sound and value for money in terms of as much bells and whistles you get for the price takes a back seat, and emotions / feelings would come into play instead, and that's ok! I don't think you can really even ask that question "is it worth for 700+", obviously there will be those that favour price to performance from the likes of Qk65 V2 or the Cycle8, and there will be those that will defend the TGR GSK 910 for what it is
Just buy what you like honestly, at the end of the day, if you like it, you like it. satisfaction or enjoyment is immeasurable with objective factors sometimes (e.g., knobs / screen / 8 mounting styles packed in one board). Unless it's outright getting scammed
I had the experience of such boards with the Time80 RE. Sure, for the price I paid for it, it's probably one of the worst deals of all time (no brass weights for my configuration, top mount, internal design is basically the same as the 2017 TIME TKL) and it does sound objectively worse, but it has brought me the most smiles when I type on it. I have sentimental reasons to keep the board (grail since entering the hobby some years ago, only able to snag one BNIB at a good price recently) and the sound it makes is fun, meaty and raw - a stark contrast from the recent flock of gasket boards and 1.2mm pcbs.
TLDR - Just buy what you like
I just sold my 910 ME as it was honestly very underwhelming. Great Video Andy.
I like owning boards that are made by solo or small group designers. I made a list of designers I still have yet to own; Singa, BaionLenja, Saevus, Helheim to name a few. I think it’s almost like owning a piece of history!
I think the problem with a lot of these boards is that they were all in the pipeline before TKD and Neo brought high quality minimal design boards with innovative assembly to the market.
Way too many interesting and unique boards out there to drop stacks on "basic" boards like this.
Its very pretty and sounds great. I just wish some keebs like this were cheaper. I'd understand if it was 400 maybe even low 500.
I’d go as far as $600 shipped if it was absolutely perfec.. $700 is a number that gives me pause.
@@AndyVNguyen right I was thinking maybe upper 500 towards 600, for full grand total after shipping, is where I put it. Part of my thought process too is that its 65% and not TKL, so I feel like it should be a little cheaper than some of the end game, high end TKLs out there. But maybe im misunderstanding the impact of the size in production price.
Welcome back Andy! Been a month haha
This is way too expensive for what it is. You can get a commision for 1k, and you can do a one off for 200-300 with a factory directly.
Selling my 910me helped me justify the purchase/upgrade
Nice, what color was it?
I won a silver so parted with my silver/suave blue bp 910 yesterday. It had a Gcables SS mirror BP on it, took me hours to get the mirror finishing looking nice. I toyed with keeping both but I just didn't see it ever making it in to the rotation again. Going back in fourth whether I now fund my lena gb @@AndyVNguyen
Sold it yesterday it was a silver case and I had a gcables SS backplate for it that I polished to a mirror finish. As you said with the forcebreak mod and heavier weight I got the sound of the GSK @@AndyVNguyen
silver and I won a silver. It would have been hard to let go if either were a different color@@AndyVNguyen
silver was hella nice lookin. suave blue 910 is like the lowest demand one.. i get it.
I'm more excited for the low profile kits coming out now. Most keyboard designs have hit a ceiling except for a few I have seen recently Event Horizon, Geistmaschine and Baion.
Was Baion the maker that is having trouble fulfilling a stock products as part of his buys?
I agree it’s expensive. But when I saw it I just desperately wanted one. I ended up finding one in Japan for significantly less than the prices on r/mm due to the weak Yen. It was probably overpriced from the start, but I’m going to have it on my desk on a stand and just look at it.
What are your main recommendations for a TKL right now?
F1 8x v2
@@AndyVNguyen thank you!
@@AndyVNguyen How about neo80?
Solid too
@@AndyVNguyen Thanks
Where can i buy the artisan?
Bro you need to make a video on the QK60 yesterday is you’re gonna say this sort of stuff
Just listen to the sound tests without foam
@@AndyVNguyen not super impressed by the sound tests I’ve heard, but if you’re looking for more content for videos this might be a good topic
@@CrispySenpaiqk60 doesn’t sound good IMO. The neo70 on the other hand...
this board looks phenomenal, not sure how they could make it sound better here.
Agreed, I really like the sound of the board!
should i get the f1-8x v2 😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏
Yes it’s a great board, or you could wait a year and get the F1_8X FE when it releases.
Yes
I appreciate the art concept of the board but the price? Nah - plain robbery
Agreed, that price gave me mad sticker shock. I passed it off to someone in my community
Was this board a raffle board on Monokei?
I got it thru GSK raffle
mx browns on pc is truly the goat
Ez W combo
how does it compare to the gaf910?
On par, pick aesthetics at that point. Both gaf and GSK sound solid af.
AHHHH I NEED TO RETURN TO THE HOBBY IVE BEEN GONE TOO LONG
i need to pop by another andy stream i miss u ;-;
thanks for coming by bb
Lets go Fuji. The board looks pretty and sounds decent, but that bish is expensive.
To say I got sticker shock would be an understatement!
Damn I was trying to get a 910 for 6 years but I even lost the monokei raffle. Maybe some things are not meant to be together…
910 me is cheap on market rn , if you wanna go that route
@@AndyVNguyenI thought about that but I dont think that the alu version would satisfy me.
The copper versions are around 2-3k on mechmarket though :(
I threw on after market stainless bp on after that and force break sounded solid.
Honestly, with the market as it is right now, especially for secondhand market, with that kind of money I am getting a full patina/treated brass back weight board that still sound decently good.
There's definitely a market still for overkill products that are like "just right". I'm lucky in that mine turns out to be the jjw cloudline, which is admittedly in 2023-2024 terms is closer to that end of the hobby, but there's something about it that hits JUST right, and i think there's definitely a group of people who will feel the same way about the GSK 910, just not me.
I've been using browns and they have been really good man, the keeb also seems great. Been in the hobby for 3 years and still haven't bought a real high end board, maybe the time is now
That’s a pretty expensive board for what you’re getting, even more expensive when you factor in possible Toll and VAT costs, the base price of the keyboard shipped would be 974 dollars if you live in Sweden.
I see high-end keyboards in a similar light to high-end watches. Beyond a certain point, you're not just paying for the raw quality and performance, instead the price reflects the added value of branding and design. If you like it then buy it.
mx browns still going strong>>>>
Ironically yes
700 usd and you need to use weird cheap rubber suction cup meanwhile 150usd boards are offering magnet connections and ball catch mechanisms 😂
$1100 for a board with in my opinion a badly done rgb light, it’s way too bright and a bit cliche. Ontop of that, it sounds like nothing special at all. I think u should do a blind sound test with it using same switches plate and keycaps, but switch between boards and try and have us guess which one is which.
looking at all the sad flippers unable to sell the gsk910 on mm, clearly it is not worth it
They put copper and aluminum touching in the same board?? Have they never heard of mixed metal corrosion??
ngl keyboard was mid thank you Andy for the review
Saves you money fsfs
me here just watching contents about enthusiast boards knowing that im just dreaming and will never get my hands on any of them (probably not even the one that they say its "budget board")
Didn't try this one yet but I have my 910 ME built with an custom cut aluminum plate and honestly, the typing feel and sound is the the same as the GAF (which I think shares the same design as this GSK). So yeah, if you care more about the value, just get the 910 ME and a custom aluminum plate (or even steal a GAF plate lol). If you care about GSK and wanting to own a very expensive board then sure, this is for you.
TGR tax. That's an insane amount to overpay just for the name of the board. I was able to get a fully kitted out OwlLabs Neo 65 including caps, stabs and switches for just over $200USD. Unfortunately, it's not 2020 anymore, the market has moved quickly on to higher volume producers, and these "high end" makers are just getting by on antiquated reputations and fools who value showing off how much they wasted on meh products.
TGR tax is definitely real..
Nice show piece you got there man!
C'mon we people buying this either to flip or show.
Not for using. Buyer typing from neo65😂
Lmao kinda true. I passed it off to a patron. I couldn’t justify something for show
@@AndyVNguyen ❤️
i don't like a blocker on such a small board.
What’s the min size you’d want a blocker?
@@AndyVNguyen tkl .. On smaller boards it's a waist of valuable space.
yeah i think i’d just commission a board at price point sheeesh
Hopefully not thru keycult lmao
i have a 2300$USD one of one custom keycult
but I still daily drive my tester68 that I built 3yrs ago 😅
may not be the best but it has a special place in my heart❤️
cap
You can almost buy 2 PlayStation 5 Digital versions for that price. And, all that keyboard can do is type lol
A 910 is a 910.
$910 dollars too?
might as well add the $20 LOL
bro did you gain weight? big boi.
Had knee surgery, can’t really exercise
Hows your knee, bigboy ☺️ I hope you will getting better
anh này ng vn à :v
Yes
@@AndyVNguyenHello Andy! I’m looking for a mid-tier keyboard (in stock, of course). Between Mode Sonnet (a cheap configuration) and GOK Venn65, which one do you prefer in terms of sounds? And if you didn’t try the GOK Venn65, could you recommend me some reliable in-stock keyboards other than Mode Sonnet?
Good luck getting one though lmao
Raffle is such a scam
i somehow won, i've won maybe 3 of the 100 raffles i've entered lol
This has been quite the year for me too. Glad you're getting those Ws. Did you go for Lena? I remember you saying you liked your yeti@@AndyVNguyen
Lena is tooooo bigggg
Well if you're going to ask for my opinion in the comment section, here it is: ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?! I thought this board might be $300 top, even though it sounds like a $90 board, and the price is actually way higher than that?? If you like the aesthetic, and have money to throw around, then have at it. But I wouldn't recommend this board to anyone.
what $90 keyboard?
@@AndyVNguyen Sorry, but the sound demo speaks for itself. Even something basic like the Leobog Hi75, which currently sells on Amazon for $90 sounds better (it's $99 with $10 coupon). The Leobog doesn't boast all the extra features of the TGR, but it nails it in the basics. I don't expect a keyboard that costs 7 times the price of the Leobog to sound 7 times as good, but I do expect it to be noticeably better, and the TGR's sound profile in this demo is lackluster at best. Maybe the problem is the MX brown? But I have browns on plastic boards and they don't sound that bad. Look ... you're doing your best to present the good side of this board and maybe it's artistic appeals is the selling point for some, but it's not for an audience like me. You ask for me opinion so there it is.
Way overpriced. After all your work it had a hollow sound, like clicky. For that price it should look like my Tesla.
I would feel foolish buying that board.
I don't know why but it sounds wet and sticky for me, easy pass.
That’s the first time I’ve heard someone describe mx browns as that. The bump kind of sounds gritty usually
gib keyby pliz

neo65 beats this🤣
On price, yes!
