Whoever narrated this tutorial needs a solid raise in salary! Thank you so much! Really well explained & demonstrated.
Dillon Gu
Thank you so much! I'm glad you found the video helpful! :D
this guy should win all of the Emmy rewards
agreed - I found it really clear and easy to follow
As someone with mesophonia, id like to personally thank the narrator for not smacking or breathing into the mic like so many others, thank you
blender is really getting better and better. i believe it will be adopted as an industry standard soon.
Ped-Away-G it already is
@@XsizztEdits Ubisoft animation studio has adopted blender as its main DCC but it's still not an industry standard, not yet.
It's getting pretty awesome I agree, and this is coming from a 3ds Max user.
Give this man an award! Best tutorial of 2019.
Eevee is such a life saver for low end pc's!
not all. my pc it crash sometimes
It keeps crashing in my PC while rendering.
Not necessarily. You need a high Vram to use Eevee. I owned a low end laptop last year and I prefered to use Cycles over Eevee just because it is easier to edit in Cycles.
@@darkhoodchief I managed to change Evee's render settings enough that it's effectively Cycles but in real time for me.
as soon as i start earning money from my animations, i am gonna support blender so much. i love this.
@12:22 found out that in 3.0 they removed the BLUR PREVIEW in the VIEWPORT but it will show on your final render.
thanks, I wonder why it doesn't work!
@@kevinbvt6811 welcome
Thank you! I was confused as well
@@robertyoung406 wc!
It actually no longer works even in 2.93.
To the man narrating these tutorials, I love you so much and thanks for being the best tutor ever ;_;
As someone who has spent years banging his head against 3ds Max and VRay, this is SUCH a breath of fresh air. Getting renders like this right out of the box (and in real time, no less) just pistol-whips the hell out of a program that my workplace has been spending tens of thousands of dollars a year subscribing to.
This video helped clear up a few questions I had about Eevee, now -it can evolve into Flareon- j/k...
But seriously, my renders are looking better now that the fundamentals have been explained to me. Hard shadows had me scratching my head. Very well demonstrated; thank you.
I am completely blown away by all of the capabilities of Blender. This guy presenting is amazing at presenting it. Kudos in every way. No way this is free, and if it is I'll donate to it.
Eevee evolved into Blendeon!
Nice tutorial, very helpful!
Outstanding work on this. Blender and its documentation/training have come a long way since when I first started using them around 2007.
Wow, hands down the best tutorial I've ever taken. I've learned more in the last 3 days taking every one of your courses than I did in my entire education. This narrator is amazing, thank you so much for creating such understandable tutorials. If one could elope with a software, this would be it for me. This is the most advanced software to deliver peoples creativity, all for the price of nothing. Thank you!! Although I'm a novice in Blender, I can now learn and take more advanced tutorials and understand the lingo.
how can such a glorious program be free and open source? holy shit!
the channel "blender guru" has an interview with the creator and how its free today. its a pretty incredible story
That's the beauty of it
I am stunned. This is worth 100 videos on how to make this and that (which never explain much, rendering them copypasta tutorials)
You have given us the WHAT of things, which is unbelievably valuable moving forward creatively.
12:01 this real-time motion blur feature in Blender 2.8 disappeared in Blender 2.9? I am using Blender 2.9 and dragging the timeline doesn't show the blur effect at all. Only way to see how the blur was was to render that frame.
Same here
same for me too
Same on 2.93.1
Finally someone explained these shaders and glowing possibilities !! Thank you sir, thank you so much !
Why is Screen Space Reflections a setting in the scene tab? I thought every material needs to be defined how much it reflect - eg with a glossy shader. Thx in advance!
Screen Space Reflections (SSR) is just a method for calculating reflections. Cycles will do this by simulating the entire path of a ray bouncing off a glossy object, but this is too expensive in real time. Instead, with SSR you use the image you already see on the screen and try to calculate what parts of this image would be reflected by a certain object. You still need to use glossy shaders (or principled with low roughness) on objects for reflections to appear.
@@kallehalvarsson5808 Thanks, saw the answer now, but still helpful thank you!
ok ADHD, 20 minutes... we can do this!
i have a bit of OCD so i HAVE to do everything the exact same way... it takes me 10 minutes to get through a 4 minute video. uh oh.
@@radiantbacon1502 oh shit is that how it works? i might have adhd too.
i got stuck on one of the vid coz the software got updated and its not the same with the video.
it was so painful but i did it differently and proceeded
This video took me DAYS
Ditto as to adhd! This tutorial kept me hooked!'
Love this! You've my day!!'
Thank you for the new tutorials..!! Blender rocks..!! 👍
Amazing, clear, precise and crucial information about lighting in Eevee. Thank you
Great job explaining some of the more confusing aspects of the render settings. I hope future releases of blender have a more intuitive arrangement of settings.
Am gonna support this blender like mad when my animation starts paying me.
This is basically essential viewing. Wow! I can't praise this tutorial enough.
Months of trying to figure this *** out and bam - all explained in just over 20 mins!
what a great review of Eevee ...I loved how 2.8 comes with a better depth of field adjusting method....previously this was achieved by parenting the camera to an empty and so on...
Superb presentation! Will be watching this again with Blender loaded !
Excellent narration and very clear explanation! Thank you Mr Dillon Goo!
"Now that's a lot of bloom!" - Blender meme 2019
The new tutorials are excellent guys, well done
That certainly cleared up some of those settings :) thanks for sharing it.
the light shinning through the skin feature is probably the most wow one
This is the best Eevee tutorial i've ever watched!
Whaaaat !!! where is the motion blur feature in the preview even in 2.90 ???
The distance parameter in the ambient occlusion submenu indicates how big of a sphere all the probes from one pixel (for ssao) will extend to when detecting nearby surfaces. Increasing this parameter has the effect of extending corner shadows, but not only that, for example if two parallel surfaces are a D distance from each other, setting the distance property for ao lower than D will eliminate the effect caused by them occluding each other.
I'm not sure you read comments from older videos. This one and a few others are not in the playlist ; )
I definitely learned vital information on how to have Eevee looking great. Thank you for this!
Oooo, I just learned how to make the lightsaber blade with the emission node. LOL
12:27 The shutter value is a fraction of the interframe time, I believe. So the amount of blur is also affected by the render frame rate.
Hey, didja miss the split second hotkey tutorial for the Subdivide modifier at 18:22? If you blink, you'll miss that the Subdivide hotkey is "Ctrl + 2" to apply the subdivision to the selected object in the viewport with a factor of 2. Use Ctrl + other numbers to get more or less subdivision.
I hope we'll soon see the emission shaders casting shadows as easily as before. Most of my works are using emission shaders as light sources, since they can be all sizes and shapes.
I really need to get back into Blender. The new features in 2.8 look awesome!
Thx so much! Eevee is beyond amazing!
ive liked
ive subscribed
ive done everything a normal youtube channel would beg for.
what more can i do to thank these guys.
keep them coming these tutes are really helpful
I'm simply astounded there is NO OBJECT MOTION BLUR in EEVEE. For the love of god, PLEASE add this! It's a show stopper for many people wanting to use EEVEE in a production capacity.
hmmm It works for me with camera motion, but not object motion...
Maybe try a cycles render for the blur separately... for sure they will add it later
Good luck :)
I'm using 2.81 and don't have the "Method" setting in Shadows at time line 16:30. Was this removed in 2.81?
Ya, even in the Blender v. 2.91 the methods setting is not present. They have removed it.
this guy explains very well but his tone sounds very sarcastic while spitting true facts
Very in-depth and well explained
Bravo!
As always a great great tutorial very detailed and yes I'm going to go over it many times thank you! Blender team, Blender community you are awesome, keep up great work.
5:39 Me doing a selfie with my friends be like
"Now that's alotta bloom."
ALOTTA BLOOM
I checked - everything is clean
As of version 2.93 LTS, as well as the latest version at the time of this comment (3.2), motion blur is no longer shown in the 3D Viewport.
Very helpful video. Thanks for that!
Well done, logical and thorough
getting a pen and paper to memorize all that !! THANKS
Thanks for the R-twice tip for rotating the camera view (@ 11:37)! I've been looking for a way to do that…
This is the reason why I render things in blender...
I animate and model in C4d and export as alembics to blender and render them there. Super fast for lookdev and beauty shots.
Eevee is far from perfect compared to cycles and redshift... but it certainly gets a job done in time. Granted that as long as your director isn't pixelfcking you.
Great tutorial Dillon lighting is so hard to do, it's probably just me but it was little hard to follow with volumetric and shading because of checkered background. But still great video thanks
Thanks a lot! Finally I know how to do that Tron glowy effect!
Excellent video thankyou
I have high respect for you. Thankyou so much this helped so much!
Real-time environment mapping 👍
Why does the mouse invert after typing rr and trying to adjust the camera? It doesn't behave this way otherwise. I found it extremely hard to aim the camera witht the mouse sudden;y behaving like that.
1:22, when I add a mesh plane it is entirely grey, I do not see a grid (although the grid is still visible in the rest of the viewport? I'm unable to find the reason.
The flesh monkey was something else.
You forgot to put this videos in a playlist
How can I view the motion blur from the camera view? I turned on motion blur but it only shows it in the rendered image and not on the camera view like in the video.
"hover over to see the tooltips" is sometimes my code word for "I don't know how this things works"
Any comments or explanations on Motion Blur on moving objects? I noticed on a helicopter model that this seems to be broken, there was no motion blur on the turning rotors in EVEE while in CYCLES they showed up perfect. Did I miss any setting?
Great video
A bit too fast at the end there. How did you get the colour of your plane to go thru the reflection plane. My reflection plane only works if it is above the plane, and the colour of the plane doesn't come thru.
As for blooms, is there any way to have the bloom show up on the alpha channel, allowing for partial transparency, for example if you want to overlay the render into a file with a background and have the bloom extend beyond the object i the resulting image?
Ok. I animated an object. Turned on the motion blur in Render Properties. But seeing through the camera didnt show any motion blur on the object.
Then i animated the camera itself a little bit. THEN it showed.
Why the motion blur is for camera only? Any moving object should show it no? Or im doing something wrong?
Overall informative video. My only complaint is you should have made it easier for the viewer to know when you are transitioning from one major section to the next. For example, when you were done with the DEPTH OF FIELD discussion you quickly went into the SUBSURFACE discussion as if was the same topic. In other words, you need better "verbal paragraphs" to make it a bit less confusing.
When I add volumetric scatter to an object, "fog" appears in the center of the world and doesn't react to changes in the object and its movement :( Why?
Super helpful thanks! 2.8 is amazing software. Are the camera lens values supposed to reflect real world lenses though? I noticed when you decrease the focal length it zooms in instead of out which seems odd, maybe I did something wrong, and anything below f1.0 would have insanely narrow depth of field, I’ve never heard of a lens below 0.95 in the real world.
Stanley Kubrick used f0.7 lenses on some of his films........dof narrower than a bee's dick!
Is there a way to include screen space reflections in animated objects? I think he said no, but maybe i missed something...
In blender 2.83, there is no __Method__ option under the _shadow_ section of *_render properties_* in the property editor..
Superb tutorial ... Amazing
uhh there is no separate albeedo on 2.82.7 under subsurface scattering
aLSO NO SHADOW selection between bsm or esm under shadows
5:30 this is frightening
If you mix two principled shaders and both have SSS only one works.
Hi i downloaded blender in ubuntu 18.04 but the lighth an shadows not work correctly any suggestions to fix this problem
I'm having trouble with some EEVEE reflections, when on camera some faces of geometry turn into black but outside the camera they reflect correctly, what could be the issue here? thanks :D - OK FOUND THE PROBLEM!: I had connected to the base color an ambient oclussion. this makes me ask another thing, How do I increase the ambient oclussion influence on the renders? thanks
Thanks a lot for this instructions video :)
Thanks man.
Thank you for this comprehensive tutorial. I'll be digesting it for the foreseeable future.
How can I link( or parent) a lights target to an object?
thanks
.
I can't seem to make the motion blur work, I wonder why
Amazing tutorial!
I can't do deph of field because constantly crash my blender. Somebody can explain why?
Why does the volumetric cube flicker so much in this video, even if the camera is not moving?
Probably because is being reorded at the same time
@@ItsXDaniC Why would that make volumetrics flicker?
Alright - I'm not getting any motion blur. Granted I'm using 2.29.0, and there are a bunch of differences, but still - it's similar enough.
Can we have bloom in cycles too? Without having to use glare?
Really good tutorial
Thanks
everything disappears when I select volume scatter :( anyone some help, please?
you didn't show us enough examples with the reflection plane and irradiance volume
