Bone Constraint Copy Rotation doesn't seem to work in the same way in 2.93.4. The constraint properties tab is different with a Mix menu set to Replace by default. This default setting copies the rotation to the chain of both top and bottom bones. So while the top bone is offset 90 degrees as in tutorial, rotating the Monkey in Object mode just drives this configuration round as is. The Bottom bone doesn't stay vertical. Other Mix options don't offset the top bone but also copy the rotation to the bottom bone. Here, rotating the Monkey in Object mode copies the rotation to both bones individually so that it looks kind of like they're waving in a wind. Changing world space to local space copies rotation to the chain too but as a whole - so top and bottom are straight and rotate together. Can't find an option which does what the tutorial does yet.
I remember using bone constraints to constraint the degrees of freedom of an animated lamp I was designing! - you can also use them to limit transformation, rotation or scaling of objects (E.G: why your head doesnt rotate more than a max of 180°).
Usually for animations and dynamic objects: rigging characters, etc. But constraints can also be used for arranging and aligning static objects in a scene.
all constraints can be used for thousands of small tasks when rigging or setting up a scene, limit rotation on a door for example. or limit location on a drawer or something. the entire constraints system is a toolbox of many many awesome tools used to make animating faster and easier. bone constraints are essential for making a usable armature.
There's a course on Udemy btw that is specific to drivers - it's older version, but it's pretty in depth (Probably more than 1 up there, but the one I watched was good)
PLS CAN ANYBODY HELP? Limit Location constraint works different in my blender :/ I have version 2.80.75, and do it like in this video, but Monkey moves only when I setting Max. value in negative numbers, positive numbers doesn't work and even when I set some nehative number and move monkey with G, monkey stay on the same place :( Something is wrong with it.
Does anyone know a good surce/tutorial for a long time CAD user to transition to the VFX/animation side of things? thanks, I'm trying to make better looking simulations of my engineering projects.
appreciate the effort and knowledge ,but I am feeling sleepy. You could have done better at communication wherein you vary your tone and pace and come with better examples rather than.....
I just realized that there are no ads on any of these videos. thanks blender!
It makes me want to donate to the Blender Foundation again!
@@scatterbrainart Mee to!
These videos are probably some of the best official short tutorials for any software I've seen. Good job, and thanks!
and since it's free... *EA finds this confusing*
I really really like that they go through the process of actually doing the mistakes we will make to explain better why these are mistakes
fun fact:
the first episode : 1,605,374 views.
this episode : 52,584 views....
3D work isn't for everyone, I guess.
@Tidder T that's true with learning any skill, honestly
Literally 98% of people have given up during the journey. This is so frustrating...
For 3.5 you need to tick 'Affect Transform' to move the monkey around after ticking the XYZ constraints.
These videos are why I love blender
this copy constraints option is very good for telekinesis animations
can someone tell me how can we limit the location on the local axis?

Just repeated method using a Cube and it worked as in tutorial. Must just have been a temporary glitch.
Superb!
when do you use this, for which projects?

typically for mechanisms, machines, clocks, etc...

thanks for the explaning/answers,!!! i still got a lot to learn
Please do drivers sometime! They're still mysterious to me.
ohhh drivers are awesome.

@@jeffg4686 can i ask for a link?
12:10 - I don't understand, what kind of uses need a Bone constraint as opposed to an Object constraint?
Great videos for any animator
Thank you. This is really helpful.

Camera tutorial and video exporting Please!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😅
if i have to animate weapons then which contrain is usefull. like in 3ds max link contrain
For me there is a problem in copy location. In copy location option, when I try change the space from world to local. No change take place
same!
Your lessons are so useful)

learn from scratch. Cg and cad are very different in many ways. watch blender gurus beginners tutorials
Can u make tutorial how to use blender in ue4, unity? Or how to setting blender export to animation, jpeg, ....
idk probably just export and go to unity or ue4 and import it
how can i upload geo-body in my software ?
good tutorial
I do everything as instructed however copy local location doesn't seem to work :( am I missing something?
Me too
Mmmh... Yes... Top and bottom uvu
6:23 not working for me..Trying for hours still same result...box dosen't restrict the object
check the values
u should put the cube in the center by pressing alt+g and put the values
mine was 4.5
thanks
3:40 not working.. (v2.82.7)
thanks 👍👍👌
i'd let Dillon be Top Bone anytime ;) LOLOL JKJK
9:28 whoops you left your sony vegas on lol
5:22
