    Ian is such an easy going, down to earth type of guy when you see him being interviewed. Oh and a superb drummer as well. Cheers for posting.

    Paice is truly among the most elite of rock drummers, if not at the very top. And what's more, he doesn't have a massive ego. That's somebody worthy of my respect any day of the week. I love his response: "We copied others before us, so others copying us is just a natural progression." So true. He may be among the best rock drummers in history, but he is perfectly willing to show us how to play like him, as evidenced by several videos of him on here. Great guy.

    Ian Paice...one of my favorite drummers, and in my opinion, definitely one of the best rock drummers if not THE best. Great to see him talk. I would love to take some lessons from him.

    great to listen to the exchange between these guys. both ian and rick are terrific to listen to, both playing and talking! Cool the way the drums and the keyboards just locked right together -- not a surprise from two exceptional talents... ever see Ian play a roll -- with ONE drumstick??

    • @sunbearwizard
      @sunbearwizard 8 лет назад +1

      It's simply because he too is a musician, now if we got actually musicians to conduct interviews today (and not twats who know fuck all about music) that would be great.

      +FooFanator Is SwEg -- doesn't hurt that Rick asks good, relevant questions, and Ian gives thoughtful answers. Not sure if every musician would be sharp enough to put together an exchange as good as this one.

    5*! To me the interview was worthy since my main "teacher" was Ian Paice. But the music after it - Rick Wakemen - is quality as well.

    Growing up, Bonham, Paice, Carmine Appice and Keith Moon were IT. They were just so dominating and influential. And of all of them, Paice, to me....was the Duct Tape of drummers. He could have played with Wakeman-era Yes. He could have sat down and pushed Humble Pie along.....he could have raised the game with Uriah Heep or brought a great interlude to "We Won't Get Fooled Again" on stage behind Pete Townsend. I believe he influenced people like Paul Thompson and Gavin Harrison, who also showed greatness. Thanks for the post is was superb.

  • @martianshoes
    @martianshoes 12 лет назад +1

    Besides a great sound...and a foot to die for..Paice had that one thing all great Brit drummers (Buford and Collins come to mind) exhibited...an outstanding musical memory...of what went where and the presence of mind...to fit it all together. I can't think of a drummer more professional...than Ian Paice.

    Talkin' bout chest hair, talkin' bout crazy gold medallions! Great clip from the Barry Gibb Talk Show!! Seriously, though, two very talented musicians and it's easy to see why Rick had his own TV show later, he's very relaxed in front of a camera.

  • @dockaiser
    @dockaiser 13 лет назад +1

    ...according to Ian's statement: "..if I don't enjoy it, I don't play well" , ' Come Taste the Band' must have been great times, even though he says the chemistry wasn't there,
    I think this is Ian at his best.

    Wakeman used him and drummer Tony Fernandez as the studio band on Gastank. Both played with Strawbs, as of course did Wakeman, though much earlier.

    Only thing I disagree with is the beginning of what this guy said. The late '60s and early '70s where drummers made names for themeselves...yes Paice and Palmer were certainly two of them but not the only two...people copied John Bonham every bit as much. Ginger Baker, Keith Moon, Mitch Mitchell. Lots of drum legends that emerged during that time, the likes of which we have yet to see again.
