I think the most disturbing part is, if cows had lazer eyes and projectile tongues, they would probably do this irl. Cows and other herbivores do eat small or defenseless birds when they're on the ground, for protein and calcium. Now imagine if they could hunt them.

Kids media has always been like this. Literally since fairy tales. It's so adults can enjoy it when they watch with kids, and to scare the kids into learning lessons.

I mean, many kids shows were dark and most of them were popular. Kids don't only like kid friendly things which is something lots of people don't seem to realise nowadays. Plenty of young adults today grew up with things like Ben 10, Generator Rex, Clone Wars, Teen Titans etc etc. Those shows were pretty dark too. Clone Wars alone had some deaths we didn't think much of as kids but now that we're older, we look at those deaths and think "ok that was way darker than I remember it" lol

Ironically, this is on par for actual kids... They haven't learned to be afraid of things, so in their own way they can literally laugh in the face of death itself, and come out pretty alright... I remember my childhood and kids say and do scary stuff like it's the highest form of comedy. What really gets my goat about this is that, as far as I can tell, he flat-out chose Disney, never even tried to pitch it to anyone else, fully intended from the beginning to break Disney's family-friendly image with it, and then just weaseled his way through or gave them the middle finger when they inevitably had complaints about the kind of stuff he was writing in. Guy totally could have just gone to Cartoon Network with it and done the whole thing exactly as he wanted with probably zero conflict, but instead he woke up and chose to wage creative warfare instead.
And this is why I waited until my kid was 10 before I let him watch it. Was so happy when watching it though. I'm talking about me... I was so happy to watch it with him.
I think it’s good to slip mildly horrific stuff into shows n games made for older kids, fear is a response to danger so it’s good to instill a little bit sometimes.

The kid's uncle has an estranged asmatrer twin brother who disappeared in Gravity Falls. The brother is the only who wrote the diaries an egg uncle is trying to find all 3 books to bring the brother back. The uncle sacrifices himself to seal Bill.
That just goes to show that…ANIMATION IS NOT JUST FOR CHILDREN!! Animation is a form of art, and is meant to be enjoyed by everyone regardless of age.
Kids media has always been like this. Literally since fairy tales. It's so adults can enjoy it when they watch with kids, and to scare the kids into learning lessons.

How can anyone have an issue with this show? It's funny, fast paced and surprisingly intelligent.
Honestly, mounted animal heads chanting "ancient sins & blackened blood" in a hunting lodge is exactly what I picture all "cabins in the woods" to be like.
Everytime I see someone say a kid's show is dark I just imagine the spongebob baby roller coaster meme and can't take anything they say seriously after that

I mean, many kids shows were dark and most of them were popular. Kids don't only like kid friendly things which is something lots of people don't seem to realise nowadays. Plenty of young adults today grew up with things like Ben 10, Generator Rex, Clone Wars, Teen Titans etc etc. Those shows were pretty dark too.
Clone Wars alone had some deaths we didn't think much of as kids but now that we're older, we look at those deaths and think "ok that was way darker than I remember it" lol

Ahh yes, Gravity Falls. A show made for children. Specifically made to be watched for children. A children's show.
Ironically, this is on par for actual kids... They haven't learned to be afraid of things, so in their own way they can literally laugh in the face of death itself, and come out pretty alright...
I remember my childhood and kids say and do scary stuff like it's the highest form of comedy.
Even I came up with some stuff that counts as body horror by today's standards...wose still, I apparently wasn't the only person who thought of it and they turned it into a short horror erotica... The things people imagine as children become the stories of tomorrow.

I actually just finished watching that 'Weirdmageddon' series final just like minutes ago; so finding this video is a kind of weird coincidence in it's self, I totally love and miss this awsome and memorable show!

What really gets my goat about this is that, as far as I can tell, he flat-out chose Disney, never even tried to pitch it to anyone else, fully intended from the beginning to break Disney's family-friendly image with it, and then just weaseled his way through or gave them the middle finger when they inevitably had complaints about the kind of stuff he was writing in. Guy totally could have just gone to Cartoon Network with it and done the whole thing exactly as he wanted with probably zero conflict, but instead he woke up and chose to wage creative warfare instead.
