    One thing I also loved about the Daisy Jones and the Six audiobook is that they included a song the characters in the novel composed at the end of the audiobook, and that little touch really just made me cry! Would definitely also recommend this one!

    One of my favorite audiobooks ever was Born a Crime by Trevor Noah. He reads it himself, and I admire him so much having read his book. Also, Rebecca was a fantastic audiobook, same vibes as The Turn of the Key, but a very different story.

    Nice. I love buying kindle and audible version at same time and using whisper sync to do audio in the car and kindle at home. Helps so much to get through books and for immersion.

      There’s no way the majority of people could listen to a book for the very first time and retain anything at that speed....BUT
      if you’ve read the book before I think listening in super fast speed isn’t as big of a deal because it’s already familiar and you can miss some things and still know what’s going on. It’s kind of just a refresher to what you already remember.

    Which app does your library use? Mine uses Libby, which lets you go up to 3x speed! If yours uses Libby too, open an audiobook, then at the top, if you tap the speed, you can either choose a preset (up to 2x) but then there's a scale on the right (under the "fine tune" header) that goes up to 3x speed!

    • @Luna-po5ui
      @Luna-po5ui 4 года назад +3

      I was just coming into the comments to ask why she doesn't use Libby! It's an Overdrive app, so I assume she can use Libby too. It's soooo much better than Overdrive and you can bump the speed way up.

      I just discovered not all locations in the country has Libby, strange, right? I was just speaking with someone about that the other day, telling them about it,and they said they prefer to pick it up at the library. Crazy?

    • @jenniferparker1819
      @jenniferparker1819 4 года назад

      One thing I’ve noticed about Libby is that it doesn’t truly “download” the book to my phone. And if I go through an extended period without service (driving through mountains) my book will stop playing. I do audible books when I’m driving because of this. But Libro might be a good option too

    Great recommendations and I just realized the super fast speed setting on Libro.fm compared to other services. I would add Trevor Noah as a great memoir because he narrates it himself but also does the different dialects from South Africa. It brings the book to life. And another author who is great to listen to is Helen Oyeyemi. She narrates her work with the most beautiful English accent that adds to the atmospheric tone of her books.

    Personally I LOVED The Name of the Wind on audiobook. I've read it physically too, it's one of my favourite books. My personal favorite audiobooks are The Diviners series. The narrator is completely brilliant and somehow pulls off a range of different character voices across age, gender, race, and time period. There's also music (CREEPY MUSIC) and I think listening to the series is a better experience than reading it physically. (Also you should try the Libby app instead of Overdrive! It's powered by Overdrive so it uses the same system at your library, but the interface is a million times better AND you can speed your audiobooks up to 3x)
