I just wanted to tell you that as someone in eating disorder recovery, I always really appreciate how you include your meals in your videos. It has helped me on nights when sometimes I need a little help, and I wanted to say thank you. ❤
im so pleased you liked Orbital! i was curious if that would work for you or not because it is so unique. and you HAVE to read A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers!!!! its so cozy and thought provoking and sweet.
I’m glad you gave beautyland a chance!! And despite me giving it 600 out of 5 stars, I completely agree with everything you said 😂😂 But omg im about to start sky full of elephants and this got me so hyped!!
When you were talking about Beautyland, that made me think of the author Ray Bradbury who wrote a short story called "All Summer in a Day" which has stuck with me for years.
i haven’t finished it yet but the sci-fi novella lost ark dreaming is so good so far. the commentary on society can be applied to current america and i think it’s something you could enjoy
I can’t WAIT to read Orbital. Things like science and medicine and astronomy have always made me very aware of God, and I know I’m going to love this one. Happy birthday, sweet Gabby!
Happy birthday! Glad you had so many wins. I can't wait to read Sky Full of Elephants! I'd like to see another sci fi vlog. I think you might enjoy the novellas Finna and Defekt by Nino Cipri!
The foward collection is a great short story collection of sci-fi . The best one was emergency skin. Lakewood I’d say is kind of medical sci fi. Very light but I’d say it fits. Also John marrs came out with the latest books in his sci-fi series. Marriage pact and family experiment.
Read the Martians Chronicles, I read it last year and it became one of my favorite books. I don't think it's that hard in Sci-fi, to be honest I really enjoyed it.
If you haven't tried it yet, On Earth as it is on Television by Emily Jane is a really wholesome scifi. Honestly, the only scifi thing about it is the aliens. It's also one that kind of makes you think what kind of person you would be if the worst happened.
Sky Full of Elephants and Yours for the Taking both sound so interesting!! I'm biracial (black & white) so I think Sky Full of Elephants would be my cup of tea😮
Based on the comments about imagining a 'what-if' world, you might like the Plot Against America (A NYT choice for best of 21st cent.). Ostensibly it imagines a world where instead of a 3d term for FDR America instead elects Charles Lindberg as President, though actually the close focus is on the changes it exacts on a working class family in New Jersey. Thx Gab - Happy birthday, and if I may I must say you really rocked that leather jacket look!
i recommend The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K Le Guin, it’s about one human who is an ambassador to an alien planet and his experience there. i thought it was super interesting !!
Have you read The Blue Castle by L.M. Montgomery? I recently read that book because I saw another youtuber reading it. If you liked the beautiful descriptions in Orbital, I was completely stunned by the descriptions in The Blue Castle. It's also very character driven and witty, and has romance.
Because of your review of Yours for the taking I think you'd like Goldilocks by L.R. Lam. And if you want a cute graphic novel, check out Everyone's a Aliebn When Ur a Aliebn Too by Jomny Sun for an alien's philosophical view on earth.
I read Baby X and gave it 4 stars!!! I would love for you to read it to see what you think😊 I've also read Hench....it was meh...3 stars😂 (being generous )
I love your vlogs! I’m posting at 7 tonight a video review of an awesome cozy mystery with a ghost that I just finished reading and absolutely loved!! And I’m sharing the true story of the haunted house I bought! 😂
I have followed you for the last 7 years. I ignored the politics. I hate all politics. Then you said Fight Club was a boy book, even though my marriage and children are based around this book. It's out world. It isn't a boy book or a bro book, it's a universal book based on life. You clearly do not love reading anymore. I have to walk away. I loved you and will delete this comment based on how much hate I will get. And that's just further proof I need to leave. Good bye.
@@saraalves7348 I enjoyed almost everything I read for this video so I’m not sure what you mean by “I clearly don’t love reading anymore” 😂 that’s not true, I even discovered a new favorite in this vlog.

Becky Chambers is a great sci-fi writer. Her novella To Be Taught, If Fortunate is my favorite of hers!
I haven’t read form her yet but I need to! 🥰

Sky Full of Elephants is such a wild book. It made me reflect and mourn and seethe. It's on my reread list for sure.
Thank you Gabby for such a thoughtful review. Blessings!

No way you got a Hay Day spon! I was obsessed with that game like 10 years ago.
@@awpageofabook I know ahhhh I love Hay Day!! 😍🥰🤭
A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers is such a comforting Sci-Fi! Highly recommend!
ive never been so early before. excited to watch while I have coffee and breakfast

I am adding Sky Full Of Elephants to my tbr, loved the way you talked about it. Great video ❤
Your work really stands out!
I agree with you 100% on Orbital, I liked it especially when we hearing the astronauts thoughts, but I wanted more from them
I LOVE THAT YOU MENTIONED SLEEPING GIANTS IN THE BOOKS YOU'VE ENJOYED ❤️ Its my favorite audiobook ever

Hay Day was my middle school obsession!!!
When I saw your birthday balloons my jaw dropped! I literally thought you were like 19 or 20! 😱💙💙
Happy 30th birthday!!!!

Granville Market is so cute but so stressful lol
I love a good social commentary in my books!!!
I'm also on my scifi era, yay to us! 😂
Same thoughts about sci-fi books as you, Gabby 🪐.

Death of the Author was so good! You should try it!
I would love to see you read some more sci-fi!

Orbital and Sky Full Of Elephants are on my TBR.❤
I think you'd like the Xenogenesis Trilogy by Octavia E. Butler. It's so interesting and it sounds like it'd be right up your alley!
If you haven't tried it yet, On Earth as it is on Television by Emily Jane is a really wholesome scifi. Honestly, the only scifi thing about it is the aliens. It's also one that kind of makes you think what kind of person you would be if the worst happened.
Kayla convinced me to pick up Sky Full Of Elephants
I had the same thoughts on Beautyland, i just wanted more weirdness out of it!
Sky Full of Elephants and Yours for the Taking both sound so interesting!! I'm biracial (black & white) so I think Sky Full of Elephants would be my cup of tea😮
I'd like to try all of those books
I neeeeeeed you to read I Keep My Exoskeletons to Myself. It was my favorite book of 2023 and not nearly enough people have read it

I recommend classic scifi books if you're interested. Jules Verne and HG Wells helped inspired our science now.
I don’t read sci-fi at all but I’m very interested to read The Ministry of Time
