After sleeping on that thought for a few nights, I finally came to my senses and realized that it was just wishful thinking and realistically I can't do that since I appear to be in early onset of losing my mind and already am beginning to lose my balance. I seem to be able to drive OK but there are a lot of stupid drivers out there!

You have quite an engineering mind with great ideas and use of materials. I loved your use of the shims for the floor of the shower in a previous video. You should be designing/engineering rvs. In fact Aliner should use your shower under the dinette idea.
I really like your videos; they are very inspiring. I would love to live a nomadic lifestyle but I am far too into gardening, crafting and I have a lot of pets. I have an 18' Jayco and love to do fun things to it. Velcro strips are my best friend. I love to camp alone, but now that winter is here in Alberta, camping season won't be for a while. I also go fishing alone and really enjoy it.
Awesome.... oh and 2 cents worth, ... you can heat pizza in your cast iron pan with one tile and a drop of cooking oil on it, cover with a lid. Cast iron skillets make a Dutch oven. 😉

That's wonderful. I was convinced instead of getting a used class b I'd get an A liner. Found out it's too heavy for my older tow vehicle which is paid off. So disappointed. Enjoy yours!
Slim, I have a self adhesive plastic tab with a metal ring attached on the other side of the tab. It is for placing on the back of your cell phone. While holding your phone you can slip a finger through for phone stability while tapping in numbers on your phone and conversing. I have had it on my phone for about a year without fail, the self adhesive glue has held well. I had forgotten where I got it. Yesterday I was in dollar tree and saw a bunch of them near the checkout. I camp in my Prius so bought several the same color as my interior. I plan to use them for holding up cord across the span for curtains or other places I need a ring to hold a light for instance. I have watched as many of your videos as I can for low cost great ideas on your Aliner. I thought it would be nice to give you a tip in exchange.
I bought a 2015 Aliner classic, and totally love it. They have made improvements over the years, so some of your excellent tips are not needed. Mine has never leaked; its kind of fun being inside and snug during a downpour. I saw a question on air conditioner - mine works very well to cut mid-day heat. But hanging off the side is disadvantage. I have had MANY people see mine and state they wish they had a Aliner instead of cheaper copies. Quality is generally very good, except for some flimsy stapled cabinet parts, which were easily reinforced. Thanks for the videos!
I'm sure I won't think of everything but here are a few. By the way, my Aliner Classic has everything: hot & cold water, electric demand pump, heater, air conditioner, microwave, cassette toilet, off-road package, portable stove (gas connection inside & out) and 3-way refrigerator - since stove is portable I have good counter space and do not need to remove the sink. Even when I don't use the water system, the sink is still handy for me. - the ceiling vents (manual & fantastic fan) have very robust cams to close the lid, and a separate solid latch to hold closed. No need for bungees outside. - the factory made the small storage compartment at the front - our bed is at the rear, which is handy to the thermostat location. - the shower bar across the camper is critical. But I found the extendable ones a but too flimsy. So I bought rigid electrical conduit and ¾ sch 40 PVC pipe. The white PVC fits over the conduit and I cut to length to exactly fit between the triangular walls. This is very strong. - we have very large lexan bubble windows on both roof sections. These hugely increase interior space near the ends of the trailer. I wonder if there is a retrofit possible. - the two ceiling LED lights and the floor entry LED light are way too bright. We use "post-it" sticky notes to cut down the light. Again, thanks for your videos!

I bake pizza on my campstove with a non-stick T-fal pan that has a lid. I cook it over really low heat with the lid on to get it hot and melt the cheese, then I take the lid off and turn the flame up to crisp the bottom. It doesn't stick like the pizza stones, but is the same idea.

Nice idea for the thermostat, I 'm having the same issue except mine is brand new and never shuts off. It's lowest setting is 50, I had it on that and had to manually shut the heater down when it hit 81! (F of course)
Thanks! I think this thermostat can have more uses than just an Aliner, so I expect to do a short video on the entire setup. It can also turn on fans when it's hot!
you need a tray for pizza. cheese its going off like that. if you stay long time in same place you can build old style pizza oven from mud and broken glass pieces, cooking stone...so you can use wood fire, very healthy cooking. or use a portable oven with $130 to put near the trailer. you need silicone trims for your door. you need 5m leds for 5v plug, wich can make light in all caravan

Hi Bex, Thanks for the interest. My initial tests were that one stone burned the bottom before I cooked the top, so I added another. But you could have a good point. The second one it always better, and it's ready before I can finish the first one!
As a central heating plumber l really like the frost-stat idea mate - though ow come you don't set it at the usual 4 Degrees Celcius - as that is the temperature when water is most dense.
Slim, I am also interested in how your Aliner is doing down in the desert. We will be heading that way this Fall and I have heard several cautions about high wind.

I am sorry about your damage, but I am glad you are doing a repair video. This summer, I am travelling from Ontario Canada to the Yukon, so seeing the repair tips will help, I am sure.
you need trailer alternator pluged with the wheels transmition or cheap wind turbines and charging controller to charge some batteries for full electricity, enough to start a heater, kettle, tv, computer, or even to make a business with coffee, drinks everywhere you will travel. add 4 folding seat with 2 folding tables to enoy the summer with few friends. use some cheap vinyl and a hair dryer to decorate and protect your trailer from getting old from water or bad wheather conditions, before you add the vinyl stick some alluminium insulation outside on your camper, to prolong your trailer life with 20 years more. make a fan 12v to prevent the humidity in your camper when cooking, to suck the water trough the window. for that you can use a ducting square with fan on top of the oven and bring the hose out the window when you want to cook.
Like all your ideas :). Just bought an 1999 Aliner that already has some mods incl. solar panels and a lithium battery. I am contemplating the idea of setting up an outdoor shower and connecting it to the existing electric water pump which can be switched over with the click of a button. Any ideas?

Hi Sebastian, As you can see at 6:02 on this video I've have some bouts with wind but never has the trailer collapsed. Has this actually happened to someone? I use the shower rod as a brace in strong winds but have never had the wall collapse. Point the front into the wind and you should be fine.
Slim Potatohead, there has been like 2 cases which I have read in forums but then again they were dealing with 50 - 60mph wind gust that caught them off guard... yes I saw that I will definitely use it on my next camper trip thank you!
Slim, I am looking at a newer A-liner. Would you say with time the company has done a good job to eliminate the issues you have covered in the past? Im looking at the off road classic for a bit of clearance but a bit more room than the ranger and scout.
I see later models from other campers, but have not had any involvement with the company itself so am not sure what all the improvements are. If it were me I'd look at all the options, including Rockwood and Chalet for a fair comparison. Thanks! SP

Yes I made the housing and the buttons. Am planning a DIY video but have changed the design slightly to make it more versatile. Need to find one more part and them will complete the new video.

Regarding your furnace, do you find the furnace fan draws much power? I assume it has to be working or the furnace will overheat. Do you charge your batter with solar, or perhaps a generator? Thanks - I'm enjoying your A-liner videos.
Hi Z, That's a good question. Not sure how much electricity the fan uses but will look into it. Cooler the biggest pig on energy in my trailer. In warm climates batteries are charged exclusively with solar unless I get a wet cloudy spell. I may seek an RV park for a day to charge up. Can usually last several days on stored energy without direct sunlight by using ice instead of the cooler. Don't like gas generators at all. Thanks!
Hey Z, My furnace uses 40.8 watts, which is a lot higher than I expected. My cooler is 60 watts, so that furnace is second big power consumer. Will have to check if there are more efficient (and less noisy) systems out there. Thanks for the Head's Up!

I use jugs now which are easier to fill and can distibute weight load better on trailer. Only use one gallon to shower these days. Thanks! SP

one thing i did to my aliner is i put a switch inline with gas detector so it dont drain the battery. every lil bit helps

If so where we you direct the stove pipe not thru the roof. Maybe the side with a small pipe and a stainless steel. Fitting so it could be removable.

When you attached the paper towel holder, holder, what size/length rivets or screws did you use?
Sorry, that was 5 years ago and I no longer have that trailer. Assuming 1/4" wall board, try a 3/8" length 3/16" aluminum rivet. Thanks! SP

Regarding your furnace, do you find the furnace fan draws much power? I assume it has to be working or the furnace will overheat. Do you charge your batter with solar, or perhaps a generator? Thanks - I'm enjoying your A-liner videos.
Hi Z, That's a good question. Not sure how much electricity the fan uses but will look into it. Cooler the biggest pig on energy in my trailer. In warm climates batteries are charged exclusively with solar unless I get a wet cloudy spell. I may seek an RV park for a day to charge up. Can usually last several days on stored energy without direct sunlight by using ice instead of the cooler. Don't like gas generators at all. Thanks!
Hey Z, My furnace uses 40.8 watts, which is a lot higher than I expected. My cooler is 60 watts, so that furnace is second big power consumer. Will have to check if there are more efficient (and less noisy) systems out there. Thanks for the Head's Up!

Yes. However rubber foam pipe insulation works even better. I used pool noodles for the big gaps and pipe insulation for the smaller ones. Thanks! SP
I know a wood burner in a ALINER would have to be very small but could it work? I am just thinking CRASY but would it work?
