    I was a fireman for 30 years and when it comes to fire extinguishers there is one more important thing you should do to make them more effective. good idea where you put yours but one thing you need to do is shake it up. yes that's right, when you go down the road and with all the vibrations the powder will settle and if you have a fire only a portion will come out the nozzle. so make it a habit in your TT set up that you shake the extinguisher or even take it our and tap it on the TT tire. this will break up that powder and if you need it you will have 100% of the powder instead of say 30%. OK I''m done now, keep up the good work, love watching your videos

    Good ideas ! I think the first aid kit on the door is brilliant, because when it's placed inside a cupboard, it invariably works it's way deeper inside. When you need it for a plaster, you get blood on the gear that you have to move. First rate idea ! Cheers 👍

    If you are ever looking for a good way to hold something down, 3M EZ-pass adhesive strips! They look like little strips of heavy duty clear velcro. They are a little bit thicker, but are used for car windshields, so can take the blistering heat and freezing cold. And I have a set that's been in my car for 8ish years with no issues, both Canadian winter and warm summers and they dont budge!

      Yea they work really well. Would be perfect for objects you dont want to move, but can easily get at if you need to. Like a paper towel holder, one inside and one one the outside and you could bring the paper towels inside or out.

    One of the things I love about your videos is the creative modifications you come up with for your trailer. You've given me permission to make mods to my next trailer, thank you! As far as where or how to store the cast iron fry pan, the first thought was a small pillowcase, just to put something around it; but then I thought about the neoprene laptop sleeve that I have for my Chromebook; that might be a better solution; or into the pillowcase and then into the sleeve, it would serve to keep the sleeve just a bit cleaner over time.

    Very creative ideas! With the tension rod storage bar, you can use the large bull clips threaded on the rod to secure bags of chips, zip lock bags w/ snacks etc. for your cast iron skillet, I’d probably put a pot holder in it and stack other cook ware on top. They won’t rattle together, and they are protected with the pot holder that you will also use.

      HighDollarHobo : HighDollarHobo- I searched for your video, as I bought the fan controller Slim P recommended but it does not come with any directions, but I could not find your video. I did read comments on Amazon about the controller which included some discussions and photos, but the best description required running a separate ground, and that won’t work in my Casita. As for the iron skillet, I stop at my local post office and pick up several of their padded envelopes slip my skillet in. No grease spots on wall. My camping situation is quite different as I no longer have a travel trailer to use for camping. I use a tent or sleep in the back of the pickup. However, same issue, where do you store your cookware. My solution was one of those clear plastic totes. I put my pots and pans in it, along with some kitchen towels to keep the pans from moving around in transit, as well as you know you always need a towel when cooking, as well as a pot holder so that stuff all goes into a clear tote box....I use the clear boxes so its easy to see what's in the boxes without having to pull everything out and open up the lids.
    You 10 ideas were all great....I agree with the fire extinguisher location, heck you could always add a 2nd one by the door if you wanted. I've used a fire extinguisher a couple times, not for anything of mine but stopped a couple of people's cars from burning to the ground because I had a fire extinguisher in my truck which many people don't carry and I think should be required safety equipment for a vehicle and as expensive as vehicles are they should all come with one anyways.

    Storage for. Cast iron skillet - my wife found that storing our cast iron skillet in the plastic bubble wrap envelope, like Amazon ships things in, works well. It keeps it the things around it protected from both impact and grime. It's cheap and easily replaced if it gets greasy.

      So, we owned a body shop for years before we had a waste oil heater fire. Mike had one of those cool, vintage, copper fire extinguishers decorating the paint booth wall across the eight bay shop, from the heater. As the temperature increased with the fire, the bracket holding the 60 y/o extinguisher melted and the cannister hit the concrete floor, dispersed its contents as it bounced across the room, and divinely smothered the fire!

    Different fires need different fires extinguishers. A very handy one for cooking is a fire blanket. They come in different sizes and you drape it over the fire and snuff it out completely by removing the air it needs. The extra bonus is you don’t have the contents of the extinguisher to clean up after.

    Nice Trillium, I've been full time in my 16ft. Scamp for almost 10 years now.
    A tip or so I can give. Best one I know of don't get carpet, add your own after that's removable for cleaning. Do add it if using in colder weather. I'm glad I didn't.
    The way and place I store for travel is in paper shopping bags then stacked up together then bagged in plastic bag. Placement is under my fridge or across from it on floor. For weight balance side to side depending on if water tank filled. Otherwise my skillet sets on back burner ready for use. A trick for more counter space when cooking is about 4 ft or so of metal wire shelf. Bend to fit up over burners of stove "Legs" of it about a 13 or so inches long. The ledge of wire to keep it ridgid as shelf will do same. Coffee pot or pan can be set there to cool to.

      One can use those rubber drawer liner if neophrene is not available or costly.. You could fold it over to make a pocket, glue the sides and then figure out where to put it. I would store it in an oven, but he doesn't have one. At least then you can stack other items in it with the rubber sleeve. I would put my smaller ppots/lids inside it when storing. It won't slip around when moving, either.

      Don't forget to add some snaps to attach the laptop sleeve (like the paperwork holder) in a convenient spot, like that closet. And get one of those chain metal scrubbies off amazon to clean it with. just add a little water to the pan after cooking to loosen residue, let cool, then scrub with chain scrubby. Also, to re-season periodically with a high temp oil, like grapeseed. Grapeseed oil is a must for cast iron cooking, very high smoke point and more neutral taste than olive oil.

    • @jimdreger4626
      @jimdreger4626 4 года назад +5

      If you use the neoprene sleeve, make sure that it doesn't seal well. You want air to get at the pan to prevent the buildup of moisture and rust.
