To think that artists today are worth millions of dollars when a song like this blows away anything they sing. This song is over 50 years old and is still played and enjoyed today. I doubt that 50 years from today nobody will play a rhianna , beyonce or any other hyped up pop song. This song will be 100 years old and still be played.
I remember my dad bringing me and my girlfriend to see them at Belmont Park in San Diego! My dad was so so loving and he wasn't young when I was born and four more followed! He totally loved for me and my sister to enjoy our teen years and pop culture. He didn't want to be young he wanted us to be young and enjoy the music and the time!
One of the great 'oldies' from when I was 11 years-young! LOL!! This song has always been one of my favorites and I still listen to it now in 2023. Great songs never die. Sadly, they don't make 'em like this any more.
My best girlfriend thought I was outta sinc cuz of my love for doo-wop and surf music ….. I drove her to the beach in La Jolla and played this on my cassette deck. Suddenly everything became clear and hot
I was 15 years old when this song was a hit and like every other guy at that age, I got a crush on a girl all the time. I thought I was in love with every girl I thought was cute, or every girl that liked me. Boy, was I in for a rude awakening ! 😂
A great slow-dance song. It was played at a sock hop when I was in the 6th grade, dancing with Karen Barton. Mmm...she was so soft and smelled so good. It's amazing how simply hearing a song from that long ago can also conjure up the memories of touch and smell. Thanks for the dance, Karen.
August 1960, Vista del Mar headed south to Manhattan, couple 8th grade gremmies and his older brother on way to surf evening glass. Hole in the floorboard so road is visible, this song comes on radio.
“Sometimes I think my head is so big because it is so full of dreams.” John Merrick As I lie awake resting from the day I can hear the clock passing time away Oh, I couldn't sleep for on my mind Was the image of the girl I hope to find Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh I look straight up at the ceiling above Thinking of the girl whom I will love Oh, would it be soon when she exists? The image of the girl I've always wished Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh I twisted and I turned, ooh, trying to sleep But all I could do was only to weep For I haven't found that image yet Of all the girls that I have met And now the clock is still passing time And I know someday that she will be mine And I know she'll always bring me love For she's the image of the girl I love Whoa, (image of a girl) oh, oh, oh, oh Whoa, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh (image of a girl) oh, oh, oh, oh Whoa, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh (image of a girl) Boop, Thank You for Loving me, Will
Recently discovered this on the spector documentary however it brought so many memories of growing up in the 60s that's odd but I instantly felt that I knew it and loved it
"Thinking of the girl, WHOM I will love." Wow! The proper use of "whom" instead of "who." I guess grammar mattered back then. You certainly don't hear people using "whom" much these days.
Thought that was JFK at first glance of photo. I was prepping for a one hit wonder contest (shhhhh!) and came across this song; foor abouot 63 years. I thought this ballad was by the same guys who broughtbus the garage song 'WIPE OUT,' but this was the Safaris with an a while Wipe Out was by the Surfaris with a u. You learn something new every day. For the longest time, I thought Skeeter Davis sung "Don't say no -it's the ..." but it's "don't they know - it's the end of the world."

How many of these guys are original members in the video that's circulating of them performing this Acapella at someone's house or something? The background singer on the far right looks like he's one of them.
Actually Jimmy Stephens is pictured in the video, and is the lead singer of THE SAFARIS, the group who recorded the hit record in 1960. (Jimmy has a voice comparable to Jimmy Beaumont though.) This video is of the The Safaris on American Bandstand.
One of hundreds of examples of why the 50s and 60s had the best music.
71 years old and this song still gives me butterflies.
That's because you have great taste.
goose bumps, @ 75
Great music keeps going.
You people had the best of times cause these times and this modern world is hell.
Most beautiful song.. I play it over and over and it still gives me butterflies, too @75.

I was 9 years old and I remember this playing on the radio in my big brother's car.
Wow I had totally forgotten this great song, thank you so much!
Superb!
Good grief! I had forgotten this stunning ballad!!!!!
The best slow song EVER. Sad yet inspiring!
Under lead singer's name, James Stephens, you can find a live version of this - he's about 70 and his voice is almost as good.
He is 82 or 83 now (2023).
Childhood memories ❤️
Best song to come out of 1960, or perhaps a tie with the Everly Brothers' "Let it be Me", which came out that year too.
I found my image , and she married me...... Thank you baby !
Beautiful!!
JUST THE BEST for sure !!!!!! The memories these songs create.
