    DIY Soil Wetter RECIPE: DIY AGAR AGAR soil wetter

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  10 месяцев назад

      Depends on variety, humidity, position, watering, soil and other unknown factors. Some can also be due to the strain of the plant and some cutting are cut too young or too close to the tip with no nodes. Nodes or hard tissue is where the roots will grow from. No enough watering can also make them go soft.

    I have subscribed, Liz, and I love your channel. I have a PVN and a jade (Crassula ovata) that I overwatered and they naturally protested by dropping petals. I don't have the solutions you've used, but just plain water and succulent potting mix (Fert-Lome brand). I'm going to use the opportunity to propagate! I have the petals on top of the soil of another plant, a Traveler's Palm that I got from Urban Tropicals out of Hampton, FL. A couple of the petals have not only rooted, but have actually started the embryonic stages of another plant in their usual pattern of growth. I have them in direct morning sun only on my east facing patio. When I feel like they're ready, I'm actually planting them in their own soil in plastic containers with holes in the bottom that I've fashioned out of water cups (I am creative, aren't I?). I also have an overgrown and fractured and fragmented Graptopetalum (not sure of the species) that was given to me by a co-worker who just didn't know what to do with it. I'll follow the same pattern of propagation with it as well. Wish me luck!

      Leave them on the surface without soil to dry up. You can use hairdryer to hasten the process. After a week, plant in dry soil. Then soak the pot halfway to encourage roots to form and go down. Good luck.

    Do these beautiful succulents root when the sky is overcast?
    This video actually busts alot of myths of Succulent rooting methods that most of us refrain from scared we might kill the poor succulent.
    Thank you! Liz and Salamat.

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  7 месяцев назад

      They don't rot because it's overcast... For a lot of succulents, continued overcast days contain a lot more moisture in the air(high humidity), therefore they don't need watering, unless the plants really needs it. They prefer to be watered at night during their growing period.

Like it's cutten or never had it. Any way can i do the same and make it have longer roots? When should i repot it? How to do it right meanwhile transfering to soil?

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  11 месяцев назад

      If there's no roots and freshly cut, I usually put it on top of soil with some rocks on top to separate the wet soil from the plant. Put toothpick around to hold it in place and wait. After 4 weeks, it should grow some roots. Good luck!

    I'm curious, how do you know when you're hydrating them and when they're getting over watered and will rot?
    I'm moving over 1000km so I've had to take all my succulents out of their soil and put them in storage containers for roughly 2 weeks, they're going to etiolate and it's not ideal but it's either that or leave them all behind.
    I'd like to hydrate them when they finally reach their destination but i don't want to rot them

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  Месяц назад

      After being out of water for two weeks, they will definitely need a drink. What I would do in this case is to just pot them up in a moist soil(not wet) and put them in an area with bright light but no direct sunlight. After a week, give them a good soaking, drain and put away back to where they were and slowly acclimate them to be out in the sun. Best way to acclimate them is to put them in an area with 50% UV shade cloth. Good luck with the move. 🥰

      After the head cutting, let it callous for a couple of days and then, it can be planted even in moist soil. Water when the pot feels light, or the soil dries up. Please take note to never pull the plant out of the soil to check if roots have grown. 😁 Happy growing. 🥰

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK

      Gangly succulents need more light and needs to be cut down to grow compact. Best to water less but more, that means soaking the dry soil overnight to benefit the plant.

    I couldn't find a soil wetter here in North Florida so I went on EBay and bought some SeaSol and had it shipped from Australia. But it was really expensive and I'd love to learn how to make my own here because a hundred dollars a bottle is not what I can afford long term 😁. I really think you should be paid for selling it 😁 since you are the one that showed me the miracle of that for the roots on my babies. I had a problem with root fungus destroying the roots on my favorite babies and even though I managed to save the plants the roots were destroyed and I've been babying them until my SeaSol got here and I can say it's only been 4 days since it got here and it's amazing the difference it makes!!! My very first crested don't know what kind it is other then echeveria was the first plant to get this fungus? and it's been the first to get some SeaSol love and it's actually got new white roots and I'm so very very happy and it was well worth a hundred dollars to Buy sand ship that SeaSol here to Florida. Please send me detailed directions on how to make my own SeaSol like product please I don't understand what AGAR is because I'm kinda new to this stuff and not up on the jargon 😁

      Soil Wetter é um agente umectante reforçado com algas marinhas líquidas e composto líquido para ajudar a água a chegar onde é necessário.
      O solo mais úmido aumenta a molhabilidade de solos duros a úmidos, permitindo uma penetração mais profunda da água na zona da raiz.
      Também ajuda a oxigenar o solo e melhorar a retenção e absorção de nutrientes essenciais pelas plantas.
      O solo mais úmido que uso, acho que pode estar disponível apenas na Austrália.
      Você pode talvez fazer o seu próprio. Esta não é uma base de algas marinhas, mas espero que dê certo.
      DIY AGAR AGAR solo umedecedor Dissolva o ágar em água morna (não quente) para diluir a consistência de creme líquido ou cola PVA. Tome 1 xícara desta diluição e adicione a 4 litros de água. Boa sorte!
