I appreciate this setup and testing. The manufacturer owe you big time for this. They made a video too. But it's like 1/3 as good as your video. You are awesome! I think they should link to this one. • @atprints
      @atprints  2 года назад +3

      Hi, Thanks for your comment and question.
      In relation to changing inks, what normally happens is you can void your warranty if you change inks and the printer starts to give trouble. A lot of persons do change the inks and get good results. This one will be totally up to you but if you ask my advice I would say to keep the standard ink. The standard ink gives really good results.

    • @atprints
      @atprints  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for reaching out with your question.
      You can use white ceramic mugs to do sublimation but those mugs must be sublimation coated mugs. In other words the normal mug you would purchase from the supermarket or a store that sells dishes etc can not work. Sublimation mugs are coated with a special solution on the outside that allows you to sublimate onto them.

    Thank you for the review and demonstration. I am very tempted in purchasing this printer. But what is holding me back is that it doesn't include any graphics software, and I don't own anything close to PhotoShop or CorelDraw. Also, I am not good at graphic creation. So my question is being I don't own any of that software would it make more sense to go with this printer or go with the SawGrass 500 that includes Creative Studio? I want to use one of these ptinters to sublimate coffee mugs and shirts primarily.

    • @atprints

    Hi Allan, since you have both the ET-2760 and the F170 for sublimation printing, which one do you prefer more? I'm asking because I noticed that the max print resolution for the F170 (1200 x 600 dpi) is far much less than the ET-2760 (5760 x 1440 optimized dpi). Another reason is that currently, I have the ET-4800 printer. I was planning to convert it for sublimation printing up until I found the existence of the F170 which was made for this purpose. And then, I found out about the difference in the max print resolution between the 2 models, (ET-4800 has same dpi as the ET-2760). I'm debating whether to return the ET-4800 or keep it. What is your thought and experience between the 2 printers that you've used?

    • @atprints
      @atprints  2 года назад +4

      Thanks for your question and let me apologize for the late response.
      Congrats on your printer. However, I would strongly advise going with the F170 because it's built and made for sublimation. If it is too costly then you can convert the printer you have at the moment.
      The reason I advise on going with the F170 is that it's built to take the lashes and built to carry the load for sublimation. However, we do know that converting a printer can work but sometimes lines get clogged or issues come up. The ET-2760 is a good printer but after reviewing both of the Epsons I recommend persons to save time, money, and a whole lot of mess and get the F170.

    • @EntityJewelry
      @EntityJewelry 2 года назад +1

      @@atprints Thanks for the respond Allan. Yes, the F170 is too pricey for me. However, I'll still take your advice. I already have an ET-4800 set up for regular printing. So, this second ET-4800 will be going back. It's still in the box and would be an easy return. As for the pricey F170, well, I'm in no hurry for sublimation printing. So, I can wait for the F170 price to go down. Thanks again Allan.

    Does this printer print on dark cotton t-shirts?

    • @atprints
      @atprints  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for your question. It’s not more so the printer you would be asking about but more so the shirt you are using.
      Let me explain. When you are sublimating onto a shirt it’s best for that shirt to be 50% polyester or higher. If you try to sublimate onto a cotton t-shirt especially if it is a 100% cotton what will happen is that the ink will transfer to the shirt but it will be faded and when you wash the shirt the ink will either wash out or fade away. So once your looking into sublimating onto shirts it’s best to have 50% or higher in polyester. If you get 100% polyester it’s even better.
      Hope this answer helps.

      The colors are very dull. I was so disappointed.

    • @atprints
      @atprints  2 года назад +2

      Thanks for your question. There could be a lot of reasons why this has happen.
      So firstly, when it comes to sublimation and printing the print out always comes out dull or light so in this regard nothing was wrong there.
      Secondly when it comes to heat pressing there are different variables we have to look at such as
      1. What are you pressing the image onto? Is it a shirt, mug, plate, hat, cloth? If its material, that material must be 50%-100 polyester. The higher the polyester the better. If you try to sublimate onto a cotton shirt it will come out faded and light and when you wash that shirt a lot of the ink will wash out. So remember if its a shirt a 100% polyester will give you great results.
      2. Also look at the pressure, Fahrenheit and timing of the heat press. As i am not sure what item you are sublimating i can not tell you exactly about the timing and pressure and Fahrenheit. What i can say is with shirts you can do between 375F -400F for 60 seconds with a medium pressure. With hard substrates it varies.
      So all in all you can try these steps and let me know your progress. You can also give me some more information in relation to what material or hard substrate you are trying to sublimate and i can assist more.
      You can also reach out to me on IG or Facebook if you would like to chat. All of the links are in the description.
