    Hi Grae Lynn..... I purchased an Epson F170 and love it. ..However... after printing about 8 prints 8.5 x 11, I turned it on the next morning and it said it has to do a printhead cleaning! I hardly used it and it says it has to do a printhead cleaning?? My prints looked perfect and transferred perfect. When it was doing the printhead cleaning I noticed my black ink go dwon 20%!!! I have done research on how to turn this automatic cleaning function off and can't find any info on how to do it. I do not think Epson allows you to. They will waste all my black ink on a regular basis so I have to bye more. I get it. They want to make money on ink but this really sucks. Have you found this with yours??

      I print through Adobe Illustrator. So there is a setting under colour management in the print dialogue box where I can change the printer profile to Epson SC-F100 Series General Purpose (Rigid)
      Or if I instead choose setup from the bottom of the print dialogue box, I can choose colour matching and change between Epson Colour Controls (the default) or Colour Sync.

    Hi, I have this printer and searching here I found your video, I have doubts about the configuration when printing in Photoshop, on photoshop print setting > color handling which configuration do you use? And just below this option there is print profile which one do you use, rendering intent? Do you make your arts in RGB?
    Sorry for so many questions, I'm from Brazil and it's hard to find this type of content related to this printer.
    Ah one last thing on print setting on correction colors do you use automatic or other settings?
    Thank you

    • @GraeLynnandCo
      @GraeLynnandCo  2 года назад +1

      I print from illustrator mainly and it's been a headache getting my colours correct.
      I have my files in CMYK, but I think the Epson profile is in RGB.
      I use Epson SC-F100 Series GeneralPurpose(textile) for my colour handling.
      You want to make sure your document colour settings and the print settings are set to the same profile to get the most accurate colours.
      I think though if you have your profiles set first and then do your design, your colours will be more accurate. I had to convert a lot of my designs.

I realized this in my new arts that I've been doing. In fact, we have little information on how to configure it for sure, right? we have to find out by looking for information and most of the time we didn’t get the right one and we have to find out for ourselves. Select the profile that's starts with sRGB and ends with 2.1 I can't remember all the numbers. Make sure to select no color adjustment when printing. If you don't see that print profile in your print program. You will have to change the profile on the computer side, in the Windows program settings under devices/printers. Hello, So I did some google searching to see if I could find a more definite answer for you. It depends of course on how big and complex your design is etc. That being said, if you were printing 8.5 x 11 sheets of just full black, I personally think you would easily get 100.
      The non sublimation eco-tanks say a black ink bottle will print something like 6000 sheets which is of course way more than the sub ink will do. But they are essentially the same printer so I assume the F170 is pretty efficient with its ink usage.

      @@GraeLynnandCo that is awesome thank you for the reply. I am ordering this printer and was wondering if I should order extra bottles at the same time. Only place in Canada I can find have flat rate shipping only so buying the ink later would be more expensive seeings I am paying shipping already.

      I had a really hard time figuring out my colour settings. What program are you using to print from?

    Stupid question, is there a right and wrong side to sublimation paper

    • @GraeLynnandCo
      @GraeLynnandCo  3 года назад +1

      Not a stupid question! Yes there is. Some papers have logos on one side so you know that is the back side. Some don't. On the paper I use one side is much brighter white than the other. That's the side to use.

    Are you familiar with sawgrass sublimation printers? In your opinion which is best? I am trying to decide between a sawgrass and this Epson printer. My budget is 300 to 500 usd.

      I haven't used Sawgrass before but I was honestly about to purchase the SG500 when my sales rep let me know this Epson had been released.
      The biggest thing for me was ink cost. In Canada Sawgrass ink is approx 30ml a cartridge and costs around $115 each colour. Where as the Epson ink is 140ml per bottle and costs about $35 a colour.
      So it just made sense to me to go with the epson. I think the printer itself was $150 ish less then the Sawgrass one too but I would have been fine with spending more for a quality printer if I had too.

      @@GraeLynnandCo Wow well we have decided to go Epson then because of this. By chance would you know if there is a android version of the software? Wife doesn't own a pc or mac and we are kinda hoping that she can design and print right out of her tablet.

      I'm honestly not sure. You have to download and install drivers and software. You would have to check with Epson support. :)

    I just bought this printer and I can’t seem to print to the edges of the paper. Not a full 8.5 print does yours do this?

    • @GraeLynnandCo

      I don't believe it can print right to the edges. Mine leaves a border.
