Honestly, as iconic as Excalibur is, its impact is slightly diminished with how often it crops up, not to mention how some Servants’ NPs aware just knock-offs of it (hi Mordred and Siegfried.) Given that Saber’s appearance in this game is already contrived (the King of Knights is here “for some reason”) I wish they got more creative with her supers. Give her Rhongomyniad, give her Caliburn, fuck it, maybe let her call in the other Knights of the Round Table. Imagine Artoria, Lancelot AND Gawain all using their swords at once.

I'm almost certain we would've got Lion King Artoria at some point who would've had Rhongomyniad, plus the other knights either playable or during her super. But yeah. They finished Saber first, and based her moveset off of appearance in Fate Unlimited Codes (her DP is the exact same, down to the SRK motion, and the sword swings), rather than anything further than that.

For those that don't understand Hisui's last drive, it's a gag where she found a demon sword in the tohno mansion. Shiki is there to stop her from taking out the blade, she managed to take it out and then becomes possessed by the demon inside. At the end Akiha kicks her and she lets go of the sword, regaining her self consciousness.
Saber doesn’t have only one move in Fate. Most importantly, She's a servant here and servants are only manifestation of "ONE" aspect of a legendary figure. .

Basically ability of a shielder, the Excalibur is just a followup she made against Gilgamesh after fooling him Invisible air Wind Strike - Its an aerial attack using mana fusing with winds, but Melty Blood limited it anyway. you can see them here outside of her swordplay sure what you dont see here : Mana Burst, which can wrap her bodies, sword and anything she can grab as weapon be it stick or stone, into magic bursts that can make her weapons hit so strong as if opponent being smitten by Heaven itself,however its inefficient to use over mundane weapons as they'd break Swordplay combos, sword dance. Riding + Mana Burst + Invisible air, like you see in Fate/Zero she can grab even modern vehicles and wrap em into her Mana Burst, make even armored using invisible air and can do crazy shits with em, like how Rider has an whole NP to move fast in Zero, Saber can do that with vehicles. Using her Mana Burst she can enhance her Armour and can tank even NPs. This has no name. But handy. Super Punch, enhanced by Mana Burst, you can see Saber Alter punching Heracles in mouth, same thing. Instinct based moves, combing sword play special move can counter the most proficient sword combatants combos. She's versatile all around swordplay, offensive destructive power, defensive power, counter attacks, evading, racing etc These are few. and this is just Saber, one aspect of Artoria Pendragon as Saber class servant. As a heroic spirit or when she lived she had loads of weapons and NPs, and moves. Rhongominiyad, Carnawan, Caliburn etc are notable and there's her entire army

It depends on how you're using the word in any given context. You guys are all moreso arguing with your own personal definitions of the word "anime", rather than the actual meaning of my comment. Which is natural since YT comments -- especially mine -- don't often pass along their meaning well. To be a little more precise, my usage was referencing 95% of the anime you see out there, which for many is "too anime", or in other words: "derivative." Almost indistinguishable from its contemporaries, which Street Fighter, Guilty Gear, and etc are not. There's a lot more I could obviously detail, but again, now we're getting into word philosophy and even explaining anime as a whole. But yeah, this all also means I was try'na roast moe/waifu type anime a bit. I enjoy that stuff when written well, though. This is also just very generic in aesthetic overall.

Well he's not into anime and is notorious for making fun of people who are into them. I myself have never followed this series so my knowledge of this is limited, but it's clear that a lot of ults in this game are lore based, and someone who doesn't care about them and has never seen them before won't even have a reaction remotely close to someone like me who can just say, "that's probably taken from the anime isn't it? It's cool, I guess".

Its their work in the early 2000's to 2005 that had hentai due to, at that time, being an small company and the pc market in novels were full eroge. Selling something not hentai at that time might have failed.
In their defense, prior to this year, being ignorant on Tsukihime is ok since it was deader than dead. I've found only one person who knows what Tsukihime is in the past 8 years.
I actually like the shield mechanic. As long as you can time it right, you can use it to instantly teleport behind an opponent intent on fireball spamming.

This split personality makes him rape arcuied depending on previous choices. This is still in the remake, though it fades to black and you only get to see her mutilated corpse after Nanaya has his way with her. Shiki then dies later. It's a fucked up story man lol.

I'm guessing because he's not too well versed in type moon stuff although Artoria's supers may look like a 6/10 if you know the lore behind them there all a 10, it's also bias to an extent since Max is more of a fan of street fighter
I like how the few people pointing out Max's comment about Saber being from a hentai are obviously fresh on Type-Moon lore, because this very same fighting game is based on a visual novel remake, whose original iteration was _also_ an eroge before Fate/Stay Night was even a thing. Also, calling these stories "hentai" severely undersells their content. It'd be like calling Batman comics or the Metal Gear series "porn" because there was sex in them at points. The eroge content in the old Type-Moon games were like a 6% out of everything else in the narrative, lmao.

@Feih The gameplay probably doesn't have the mechanics that interests. This game is not that deep after all. You can get full combo by just mashing 1 button. Also I don't there's a single character that interests him design wise.

@@therealdeeves It's from the original eroge visual novel in which her character originated but the hentai scenes were just tacked on to sell the novel so it's pretty shit but it has the funniest writing ever with amazing quotes such as, "her ass was defenseless". Otherwise, everything else is unofficial.
Yeah this game's good and there's some decent supers but it definitely has the same problem I see with some other anime fighters like Blazblue and such. The supers start out promising and cool but then end so bland and flat. Most super's have good beginnings but lack good finishers.

This is the first iteration of the game. Actress again was the last one. Just off the top I think it's unreasonable to expect that much from the start. Don't worry there are also critical lore reason why those characters don't exist here
Eh not really, granted Saber using Excalibur while she’s well, a Saber servant, is basically the most iconic thing about her (which was arguably implemented really poorly here compared to other versions) if they wanted to do a bit better with her last drive animation options and just do a better overall reference for the character than just a phoned in cameo, they could have added last arc animations based on Rhongomyniad (and the Battle of Camlann as a Marble Phantasm together with it) and Castoria’s Staff of Selection if they wanted to and had the resources for it, but they didn’t.
Those get extra points for the QTEs. I like Squall's in particular; just feels good to do. Much like everything else in his moveset. Also, I think Cloud's Omnislash v5 might have an edge over the regular one despite not being a super.

I played a bit more earlier this year, and once you get the hang of it it isn't BAD, but the lack of content compared to the PSP games, the lack of character customization options beyond aesthetics, and the pointless need the grind up levels for AI teammates, drag it down. Not to mention online play is impossible if a single player in a match has lag.
I'm just glad Max acknowledged the game. If it sales well enough, French Bread could release more TM character DLC or a new Fate fighting game altogether. Hoping for a remake of Unlimited Codes

Melty blood Type Lumina. It is based on the visual novel "Tsukihime" and this game in specific is based on the remake of this novel, though Saber is preety much a guest character in this game because she is from the visual novel series "Fate".
Miyako's level 4 is kinda like Kasumi's in KOF where her master is Shiki, her step cousin she loves as a brother. Who she's ironically trying to take back from the Tohno residence the whole time. Just in a panda suit and under his assassination instincts so she doesn't know that. No they don't explain it directly, and why he doesn't know baji quan otherwise, it's just comedy lore. You only know from his back emblem being Nanaya like his birth family name and now in Type Lumina, he does all his Nanaya normals and pose.
I honestly love the fact that after 8 years of content I can pretty much predict the scores that Max is gonna give. Panda Raging Demon and I’m here holding out 10 fingers like it’s an absolute given.

The appeal of melty as a tsukhime fighting game is all the lore and callbacks for fans which pretty much all these supers have in spades. So shiki doing a light speed cut of 17 hits referencing slicing his vampire girlfriend into 17 pieces when they first met(an iconic part of the story for fans) is just looked at blankly for people who don't know the story.

It depends on how you're using the word in any given context. You guys are all moreso arguing with your own personal definitions of the word "anime", rather than the actual meaning of my comment. Which is natural since YT comments -- especially mine -- don't often pass along their meaning well.
To be a little more precise, my usage was referencing 95% of the anime you see out there, which for many is "too anime", or in other words: "derivative." Almost indistinguishable from its contemporaries, which Street Fighter, Guilty Gear, and etc are not. There's a lot more I could obviously detail, but again, now we're getting into word philosophy and even explaining anime as a whole.
But yeah, this all also means I was try'na roast moe/waifu type anime a bit. I enjoy that stuff when written well, though. This is also just very generic in aesthetic overall.

Its their work in the early 2000's to 2005 that had hentai due to, at that time, being an small company and the pc market in novels were full eroge. Selling something not hentai at that time might have failed.
In their defense, prior to this year, being ignorant on Tsukihime is ok since it was deader than dead. I've found only one person who knows what Tsukihime is in the past 8 years.
To be fair, this game has such a great quality, especially with all the combos. Can't wait to experience playing it!

This split personality makes him rape arcuied depending on previous choices. This is still in the remake, though it fades to black and you only get to see her mutilated corpse after Nanaya has his way with her. Shiki then dies later.

Yeah this game's good and there's some decent supers but it definitely has the same problem I see with some other anime fighters like Blazblue and such. The supers start out promising and cool but then end so bland and flat. Most super's have good beginnings but lack good finishers.

Eh not really, granted Saber using Excalibur while she’s well, a Saber servant, is basically the most iconic thing about her (which was arguably implemented really poorly here compared to other versions) if they wanted to do a bit better with her last drive animation options and just do a better overall reference for the character than just a phoned in cameo, they could have added last arc animations based on Rhongomyniad (and the Battle of Camlann as a Marble Phantasm together with it) and Castoria’s Staff of Selection if they wanted to and had the resources for it, but they didn’t.

The appeal of melty as a tsukhime fighting game is all the lore and callbacks for fans which pretty much all these supers have in spades.
