is this a new C-17 or this a slightly older one? I have a C-17 on my desktop, and i was disappointed in the fact i could not do a tactical descent with TR engaged
I'm a former U.S. Air Force C-17 avionics tech. I'm amazed at the detail in this sim and all of the sounds are spot on. They even got the "WACS fail" when you turn the battery on and the chime when you turn on APU power. The only thing that's missing is the clicking sound from the fan blades wind milling when the aircraft is parked with the engines off lol. We almost never put engine covers on and we never put cones under the engines so they were always clicking. To turn on the strobes you have to turn the knob to the right of the NAV lights knob all the way clockwise to the ANTI-COLLISION setting. Also when starting the engines they would use the engine page on the MFD which displays engine information in simulated round dials. I was stationed at Charleston AFB and got out of the Air Force in 2019. I think we had around 40 C-17s assigned to the base. This video brings back so many memories.
Hi, do you have any documents for C-17 avionics that you could share, please? I know that on the Displays, where you can read the Engine Parameters, sometimes text messages appear. I only saw that once in a video ), but in very bad quality. It would be very helpful to see and learn more about this fascinating aircraft. Regarding WACS Warning and Caution System: Currently there are not all aural warnings in the Deltasim C-17. this is a crazy vid for me as well. I am currently a c-17 crew chief and the "WACS FAIL" CAWS alarm threw me for a loop. Also, the CCU chime when apu power was applied. I am astonished at how accurate this is.

I've had this C-17 for a while, but with everything else in MSFS, I've never had the time to get to know it. This video has given me a kick start, so thanks very much.
I have a special connection with the McDonnel-Douglas C-17. My Wife and I transported the First Right Landing Gear Pad to be transport in one piece. Before our Trip they were transported by Train train from the Mcdonnel-Douglas Plant in St Louis in 3 pieces to a Rail Yard near the Long Beach Plant, to which they were then trucked to the Plant for assembly. Where as we were able to carry the Pod directly to the McDonnel-Douglas Plant in Long Beech.
Mr. Beckett, my transition from FSX to MSFS has been steep. Ive been away from fsx since 2018 and bought MSFS in late 2023. It took months for me to get accustomed to the new sim. And your videos helped me a lot. Thank you.
Just returned from a deployment on a C-17. the crew gave us a tour of the cabin and everything and I wanted to see if MSFS did justice to the real thing. WOW! Very impressive modelling here. The sights and sounds are spot on. I can almost smell it.
Current c17 loadmaster and this thing is pretty awesome. A few check list deviations on the preflight and start up but its a solid start up sequence tutorial.
I really enjoyed watching this C-17 video. This looks like the best C-17 flt sim that I have seen. Could you please do some full flight videos in the C-17 like flying from A to B and maybe flying some tactical missions?
It's really good Jon ! Excellent value too :) Paused - must practice BAE146, prepare for version 2 release tomorrow :) I'll swap to your cold & dark 146 tutorial now
A little FYI, the white lines in those parking areas where the KC-10s and the other C-17s were parked are to indicate the DO NOT PASS line. All of those aircraft were too far forward which is why your wingtip was getting so close to them. That is on the scenery designer, they need to update where the aircraft are located.
If you go to the EFB settings and tick Experimental you can set up FARP Iv spent hundreds of hours flying delta Moose over the years It's a amazing model, great video
I don't think so - not yet. For the moment it would appear (unless I've missed something) that we're stuck using an external nav tool such as LittleNavMap, and just use heading mode on the autopilot.
Excellent video which inspired me to download the aircraft. I installed it in the Community folder as normal but the aircraft just will not show up in the aircraft selection menu? Has anyone else had this experience and, if they have, is there a solution. I am an experienced simmer and know how to install addons properly. Thank yo.
Is there another video that generally covers the Boeing systems like the FMC and Autopilot? This video was great for getting started, but I'm pretty noob to big planes. I've worked my way up from the 152, through the Grob Tutor, and the Hawk, I also do a lot of Gliding, but I don't do airliners (yet) so this plane was a bit different for me. I was able to take off and get the thing to follow the flight plan on autopilot, but it just over flew my destination at 25k feet, so I've clearly got stuff to learn about systems management. I did however find the plane very easy to fly, and easy to manage the autopilot manually with alt/HDG/speed hold etc.
If possible could you show some short flight between 2 airports using the ILS approach? For some reason I cant figure it out how to use it in this aircraft :D also in the aircraft "tablet" (ctrl + 1 view) there is option night/day what it does? Did already 3 flights in this aircraft and had to do the approach manually. In first 2 flights it did not want to follow the gps magenta line and the last flight it lined up with RWY but I did not have any pink diamonds on the PFD so the aircraft held altitude not going down not following the glide path although I pressed the approach switch. Thank you :)
mine is so dang quiet, i can barely hear mine with max volume, how did you get yours to be this good volume. then again, msfs has always been way quiet.
I can't get it to track an ils. Says its in appr mode but also GPS. Aircraft just flies around in circles. Seems to dislike having flightplans modified on the fly too. This aircraft needs a detailed flight manual.

Beautiful model. Yes, the C-17 is truly enormous. A flying building.
These aircraft make regular low altitude flyovers over my hometown of Tacoma from Joint Base Lewis McCord. Always cool to see.
JBLM… I grew up off of 84th street
I saw one low pass over me when out for a walk in N Wales once. fantastic sight at night.

I have been inside of the C-17 here at the national guard base, and it's huge. I also had to squat in the cockpit lol.
They come to my city as part of the Antarctic program. In and out during the season.

Very interesting and enjoyable.

I don't think the various guidance systems are implemented.
I think I found a bug in my version Engine one will not spool up, the other three will?
Not had that problem.
Nice work ❤
I see right through the rear inner hull of the C-17 when the cargo ramp is open. Very strange. BIg Bird.
Is autopilot functional Jonathan?
It has a basic autopilot - but as far as I can tell it wil only do heading hold, etc.
just perfect for free module. after landing & engines shut down I was just not able to put battery switch to off. seems like a bug.
Hi, nice video! Is there a way to get your MSFS and NVCP settings please?
MSFS is running in Ultra, 1080P, 30fps with v-sync on. NVCP is running stock settings - I haven't fiddled with them.
I cant get mine to appear in my MFS library 😢 ive put it in my packages and community folder... nada, it just wont show up in the sim

You must have modified the sound output somehow.
Are the parked KC-10s and KC-135s AI or are they static scenery?
Great video. How do you get the static military aircraft?
Install scenery add-ons :) This one came from flightsim.to (I think?)
