‘親愛な strangely enough, I thought they used phones for a certain reason. I felt like through the phone or any technology, we try to project a fake perfect self online to meet another fake perfect self of a person. It's a fake profile for others, so in a way, fake love.
xXD3STINYXx this is linked to their ongoing storyline tho, so maybe it's about tae and namjoon's story? you know, with tae calling namjoon for help after he got arrested but namjoon not answering aka the cellphone turning to dust. and the whole save me/i'm fine thing which connects to namjoon and tae as well (the love yourself poster),, sighhhh bts and their complex storylines hhhhhhhh

By the way, the snickers aren't symbolism for drugs. They're most likely a callback to the snickers bar Hobi's mother left behind with him when she seemingly abandoned him in the highlight reel.

I do think his hypothesis is plausible. 🤔 We can compare the scene of J-Hope laying on Snicker bars with one in the MAMA short clip, where J-Hope is also seen among a bunch of pills.
In addition, people who stop taking drugs often crave chocolate because of the direct link with the release of endorphin- this often being a substitute for drugs and alcohol which have the same effect on the brain.

Hmm true, that's a pretty good analysis. There's also a theory that the snicker bars represent his fear and that's why he's trying to close the door but the snickers bar i.e. his fear comes through anyway? Ah my head hurts too XD
Nicole Johnson Both of those are right. Hoseok takes drugs in MVs to make himself ill and receive care from others. In MAMA short movie he’s in the room full of pills and he takes them and after he comes out of the room he takes Snickers out of his pocket and takes a bite.

waiting for them live perfomances. his voice isnt the strongest so its alwys easier to record it on a studio where hes staying still versus dancing while performing. hopefully his voice sounds just as amazing live!
Love Jimin's vocals, been with him since 2014 and still my bias. He has matured with his vocals, but now he is something to be reckoned with. I hope he does some solos with a great song, not leaving Bts because that will never happen. So someday I hope he ventures out to do something on his own, he is amazing performer and vocalist.

I agree. I felt like it was supposed to be an opposite to DNA. I feel like this song was one of their most different and difficult, particularly for the vocal line. I love your breakdown. This song gives me goosebumps.
i think thats great about bts (and perhaps in other kpop groups idk im not in too deep in other groups yet) but compared to western artists, they tend to stay in the same lane all the time. bts tries out different sounds, some sound 'like bts' some dont. (imo everything is bts bc they make it lol). obviously some who loved ly her wont love tear, and the other way around. and i think thats fine.
ann I loved ly and I love the tear album. And I completely agree with the other things. I personally think western songs all sound the same but bts and kpop in general really bring different sounds into their songs. It’s like you can’t categorize it into a genre because it has a lot of different sounds. I love all genres so I love every song and I love it when they change things up a bit :)

Actually according another army's theory DNA is about a childish sort of love (".. I want it .. real love..) whereas Fake Love is about realizing that love wasnt actually real and begin to realize the truth so somehow it does connect.

I agree with you, it really had a lot of screen time for all of them, but Jimin stuck out the most. Also when the block thingy came out of the waterfall I was like "How much money did they spend on that!!" And the constant contrasting but also recurring dark theme was a really clever aesthetic play. And I missed Suga as well, just before he showed up I was just thinking "Okay now Suga needs to show up, I haven't seen him at all yet." XD

im so proud of jimin i hope he knows his voice is so unique and beautiful his tone is really rare and his vocals improved so much even tho he didn't take vocal lessons before debut like the rest of the boys I'm so happy just shows how much of a hard worker he is he got to shine this album especially vocally and serendipity was a big step to that ahh I'm sooooo happy were so proud of u jimin :''')
Yeah you got everything right, the guitar line and the EDM elements are perfectly combined, Jimin and V's harmonies in the end were georgeous, and Jimin and Jin slayed the chorus. About the video what can I say, it is beautifully done, the visuals were on point and the special effects were excellent. Fake Love has everything I want musically, lyrically and visually. And the album is great too, they all shined in their writing and their producing and if Jungkook doesn't joke and he really is doing a mixtape, I am excited for it because the production in Magic Shop is flawless. 10/10 for me too.

I have a theory that the fake love they are referring to was the bandwagon hype for them last year. They had immense success, and with that a lot of sycophants wanting in on some of that attention. Maybe the individuals being in full color was about being painted in a certain way by media, and Suga having precisely 2 close up shots reflects how he wasnt given attention as an individual at all (by fake fans). As a BTS fan there was a ton of cringe and insult and fake fans that came with the hype last year.
It's even pretty blatant with the scene of V in a dark tunnel full of phone screens.

Oh wow I have watched this video so many times and analyzed the lyrics and come to my own conclusions on the message of this comeback, but this is so insightful and a really good point that hadn't even crossed my mind. For me it was a more general commentary on our society nowadays. The phones were a touch on how it is more difficult to have genuine conversation because of how reliant we are on technology and how we've become hidden. I love your interpretation and analysis. The lyrics are so dark and beautiful. I also am a sucker for emotional pop songs, so this song BLOWS me away. I love this song, jimin voice is indeed perfect for the chorus. DECEASED. Can't wait for people to be shocked at the BBMAS. The prechorus is beautiful!

Jin actually got 58 seconds of him singing which is...insane. A lot of it is with Jimin, but you can still clearly hear him breaking through. He really controls this whole album with Namjoon.

I actually don't think he sings anything with Jimin in Fake Love. They swap for the chorus, but don't actually sing any of it together. He does sing with Jungkook at the very end, but I think at least half of his lines are solo during the chorus.
I feel like this brought back some of the older BTS song's flairs thus making me already like it way more than the DNA stuff (the choreo is also just a bomb) and I appreciate it so so much that Jin got so many freaking lines !♥ =)

Nate Ortañez honestly all of the songs amazed me. let me be honest with you chief. love yourself her was not bad in the slightest but compared to wings or any of their older albums i was not AS in love with it. so i was almost nervous to hear tear?? but. this album was everything i could've wanted and more. i was deadass crying and didn't even realize it when i listened to fake love then just kept on crying when i listened to the album. there are the slower songs like the truth untold ofc then the upbeat ones like airplane pt. 2 but all i'm trying to say is this album is fantastic. i love them

Yoongi had said it was suppose to be a metaphor, because Pluto was once considered a planet but now it's considered a dwarf planet because it's so different from the other planets. So I think yoongi was trying to interpret that if something's different Society will separate from it. The same goes with their whole album 'Tear', the "dark side" of love, and how cruel it could be. So if the love isn't real they will separate. I dunno that's how i see it.
My favourite bts song as always been Danger and that's mainly bcz of Jimin voice in that song. Since then I have always been in love with Jimin's voice and this song did it for me, Jimin voice in this is super amazing and just fits so well. And Jimin AIN'T even my bias, Rapmon is....Anyways all the members did so amazingly well. Love V's voice in the beginning as well

indeed. theyre def continuing the legacy of 1st and 2nd gen -- Western expansion!! i like their old albums a lot too but its cool how they embraced Western music indeed -- alternative music in the lyrics, and DEFINITELY inspired by American music in general. J-Hope mumble rapping, the trap beats, the whole different style - the PRODUCTION! And the music video films! It's completely new in kpop - has happened in Western music before and then BTS twisted it into something uniquely them :D

In an interview they said this album is going to be completely different because this is the Sad part of love. RM said something along the lines of that love has all kinds of different sides and this whole album is the bad or sad part of love either for yourself or other people. I think this concept of this album makes me like it more than The DNA album already! I love all the angst and emotions lol

Like it's exactly why they are different. Each album is different and they try new stuffs every time, they are never the same. Like I can understand if you prefered someone's album or a previous album because it suits your tastes better ( I think the I need you era is my fav. Then DNA era. But we didn't see everything from them yet so maybe Fake Love era will be no.1 for me soon if I keep listening to it so much lo. ) but you can't say that they do the same stuffs and are not trying differents things and that there is not this ''special thing'' I really don't understand lol.
My fav. song from this album is love maze , but I really like Fake Love as well. + Fake Love and even the others songs are very different from what they did before and are pretty different from each other.

Harry Ha You see I still support my boys every way I can bc I think when it’s BTS these 7 guys are much more important than their music I’ve been following them since debut and tbh I really miss their old hip hop vibe to me after Run they went into more k”pop”(bc let’s not forget that kpop has lots of genres in it) and now they are going western I mean it’s fine but it discourages me they may want to try something different but because they did new styles these many last comebacks I feel like they forget their roots...

I still love the songs after Run era. BS&T is one of my fave songs even tho I listen more to hip hop stuff and i love them as a people, but this comeback ... I loved how they always sounded so unique and fresh. This comeback is just the same sound as any other generic pop star has. The whole album is for me the same thing over and over and Fake love just seem so orchestrated to be a great BTS song. Like if in bighit they said '' hey, we need a great new song for bbmas so let's take a look at what people liked about bts songs a put it together'' ...

this album is sooo crazy. each song is an individual bop.
its interesting how it makes me feel kinda sad to see a comment talking about being nostalgic for hiphop bts, and yeah i get it too, i miss it too. but seeing ppl say they r gonna unstan bts bcz they arent completely dark and hiphop anymore is disheartening. like, u can still stan em bcz of their old music ya know. no need to abandon them lol. what lifts up my mood tho is then seeing all the comment of ppl so supportive of fake love. fake love rlly got to me personally, bcz i went thru something in the past few months, and everything bts talks about in the lyrics are 100% what i felt throughout my relationship. not only that, but the music itself made me feel so happy, esp the prechorus. it was just a gr8 song to vibe to, and rlly affected me in the best way possible.
i just hope ppl get past the nostalgia and the comparisons, and just enjoy the song(s) on the songs themselves, in their own self. And i hope everyone finds a song in the album that they can relate to in the same way fake love affected me. bts has rlly done a gr8 job. ive been with them since debut, and they have changed and grown so much, and while i will miss some of the old styles, i still love their new stuff and trust that they will continue to be authentic in their music and keep spreading a meaningful message in their music. love yourselves and love each other armys ;)

I'm there been with him since 2014, his vocals are really amazing. But now why are they trying to say Jin does the same high notes. Jin does some high notes it is a struggle for him, but he does alright. Jimin always has done the beautiful adlibs and high notes, which are different from Jin. Love Jin good singer, but Jimin has an amazing vocal can't compare.
KK/Jaehwan Couldn't agree more to your comment but there are always some people who got butthurt whenever Jimin is praised. To me, he's one of the strongest vocalist and I can't wait for his live performance. He's gonna slay so hard in both vocals and dance.

I’m still in awe at how far BTS has gone. It’s not like I’m not accepting it, I’m so happy for them but it just brings me back to the times they were called failures and the times where they couldn’t even hire their own actors for their mvs.
