I found Anpanman so silly too...until I found out that Anpanman is a character that doesn’t have any super powers, but instead gives a peace of himself (literally and figuratively) to help others. Now I’m just depressed.

Apanman is a Japanese superhero made of bread and red bean paste. He's considered the world's weakest hero, where whenever he finds a starving child or anyone in need of help, Apanman would tear off pieces of his head and feed it to them. In the live performance, bts are dressed up as construction workers and firemen, aka your everyday workers. Hence why Suga says "I'm a new generation Apanman", saying that your everyday workers make up a significant part of our society. (You can hear the constuction whistle as one of the instruments in the song). There are multiple other interpretations you can pull from this song. With the line "Still Bangtan", they are still our humble idols that will continue to write music that gives us hope.

I love Suga's rap in Pluto, it totally made the whole song for me. The dialogue in his verse paired with his really deep voice and uncertainty when he talks to his ex-lover is NDJJSK. Suga just
    Outsold.

The Truth Untold really hit me in a way no other BTS song ever has. It was hauntingly deep and It really wasnt what I was expecting from a Steve Aoki collab, truth be told (no pun intended). this album KILLED it. my expectations were totally surpassed. i wasn't a big fan of ly: her because while i enjoyed most of the songs, i wasn't passionate about any of them. THIS ALBUM IS AMAZING. i never thought i'd be able to pick a favorite bts album, but ly: tear changed that. it's a perfect mix of their old sound and experimentation with new genres. it's a total masterpiece.
edit: i do have to back track a little because sea and outro: her were definitely my favorites from ly: her and stood out from the rest of that album because they were extremely strong lyrically and in my opinion up to par with the lyrics in the tear album.

A LOT of people hate "So what" and I honestly can't understand why. I guess it's because we're so used to having trash edm songs that when a good one comes out we look at it with prejudice. It's honestly so much better than everything being released by American DJ's now. It reminds me of old EDM, the 2000's ones that were actually good

blurrylinesx so what literally sounds like Beast’s old music (their title songs) which are heavily edm/club music, and before they became highlight they were well known for suiting their music to their korean fans tastes. People need to shut up about this whole “too American” bullshit.

My first listen it immediately brought me back to late 80s early 90s dance music but I couldn’t quite place it. At first I thought it reminded me of What a Feeling, but after sampling several old tracks the closest that I got was Gypsy Woman. It’s a very nostalgic sound to me.

Honestly speaking, I broke down in tears when I listened to Truth Untold. Its raw beauty gave such a sense of hopelessness, yet didn't detract from its effortless grace and passion. The lyrics themselves remind me a lot of Beauty and the Beast or Phantom of the Opera, both stories about men who hide themselves for fear of rejection.

Tear is definitely showing that BTS is maturing well in their music production. This album felt so much more mature and coherent. I know a lot of people didn't like Tear because it had a different direction than their past albums. But see here that BTS is going beyond and exploring their options and taking chances at different genres and styles. It is definitely one, if not their best. This is way above Her (i honestly think the choices made in Her were kinda.messy and disjointed). I'm very excited about their future music. Thanks for your reaction PD!! (i laughed so much at your reaction to So What. Honestly the last few songs are hype after hype)

Morph Kogan I totally agree. I really liked Her even if I feel like I'm the only one lol and I love Tear. I guess there will always be people who will "hate" BTS' new music and they are not obliged to like it. But I feel really sad sometimes because everytime Armys are talking about Her It's to say how not good it was in their opinion it kind of spoil it for people who actually like it. I talked too much lol. I'm just tired to see everywhere people saying how much they didn't like Her.

    • @noxfior
      @noxfior 6 лет назад +49

I disagree on Her. I think many people really misunderstood that album and then applied personal taste, which is something personal, to further reduce Her to a weak album.
From a musical pov, her is quite diverse as you find EDM, pop, funk, hip hop, r&b etc influences.
As part of the Love Yoursel series, Her has a very specific purpose: to set the foundations of the series and show the first sides of love.
It starts off with naive, young love for others (notice that it's not about oneself) that progresses into critique of the love for others that progresses into showing the darker sides of loving others without loving ourselves first, or loving material things while not taking care of ourselves. Interestingly enough, the 2 tracks that showed self love in a healthier manner is Mic Drop (and Pied Piper, to an extent).
But the album definitely went from apparent lightheartedness to darkness the more it progressed.
      naive love: Serendipity, DNA, Dimple
critique of love for others without taking care of oneself: Pied Piper
self love after surviving trials: Mic Drop
critique of not loving oneself and drowning oneself in love for material objects in order to distract oneself: Go Go
loving others while hiding/not loving oneself: Outro: Her
not loving oneself while going through trials, depression: Sea
Go Go is very deceiving as it's disguised as a happy song, but is actually quite dark, hence why it's AFTER Mic Drop, so in the darker part of the album. It's not out of place if you know what satire is and recognize how cleverly it was used in Go Go.
It talks about the youth being resigned at the shitty future prospects they were handed by past generations, so they just gave up and acted like they were living in the moment by squandering away the little they could earn in this shitty situation.

I really dislike how badly ppl talk about Love Yourself: Her. You can not like it, guys, but objectively speaking, it's a solid album. I think many people really misunderstood that album and then applied personal taste, which is something subjective, to further reduce Her to a weak album.
From a musical pov, Her is quite diverse, as you find EDM, pop, funk, hip hop, r&b etc influences.
As part of the Love Yoursel series, Her has a very specific purpose: to set the foundations of the series and show the first sides of love BTS wanted to tackle.
It starts off with naive, young love for others (notice that it's not about oneself) that progresses into critique of the love for others that progresses into showing the darker sides of loving others without loving ourselves first, or loving material things while not taking care of ourselves. Interestingly enough, the track that showed self love in a healthier manner is Mic Drop (and Pied Piper, to an extent).
But the album definitely went from apparent lightheartedness to darkness the more it progressed.
    naive love: Serendipity, DNA, Dimple
    (different takes on it)
critique of love for others without taking care of oneself: Pied Piper
self love after surviving trials: Mic Drop
critique of not loving oneself and drowning oneself in love for material objects in order to distract oneself from the pain: Go Go
loving others while hiding/not loving oneself: Outro: Her
not loving oneself while going through trials, depression: Sea
Go Go is very deceiving as it's disguised as a happy song, but is actually quite dark, hence why it's AFTER Mic Drop, so in the darker part of the album. It's not out of place if you know what satire is and recognize how cleverly it was used in Go Go.
This is a semplification, but basically Go Go talks about the youth being resigned at the shitty future prospects they were handed by past generations, so they just gave up and acted like they were living in the moment by squandering away the little they could earn in this shitty situation. BTS critiques their self destructive attitude, but also those responsable of putting today's youth in this hopeless situation.

      @Lemon Seok
I’m late asf, but this is just in case you haven’t heard about the other meaning behind Go Go; Ofc the song is open to interpretation, but if you listen closely, you can tell they’re being sarcastic. The song approaches criticism of materialism in society through parody. At first, it seems like it’s just fun and games until J-Hope raps, “I don’t have the money but I want to leave, far away”. He’s expressing the emptiness of terms like YOLO through repetition so extensive that these kinds of words lose their meaning. So basically, the lyrics are thoughtful in their deliberate thoughtlessness. To sum it up, this was Yoongi’s explanation at the LY Her press conference, “The current generation uses phrases like YOLO and having fun squandering money, but I don’t think people think about why they use such terms so much even while using the terms.”

dimpleskook IKR. Someone was listening to the album for the first time and i saw someone straight up commented something like "you may not like So What so I'm giving you a warning it sounds different, BTS needed to put the song for the EDM ppl" ummmm i dont often listen to EDM but So What is also good! Fans downplay it because it's EDM and I understand everyone is entitled to their opinion but they really shouldnt push their opinions on others either. This may not be the best song in the album but like it reminds me a bit of Outro:Wings, also I love the rap here so much, and I like the lyrics too. Nothing in this album is skippable

Jungkook wrote and produced magic shop and the overall message is how the fans have helped them become stronger and to the level they are and how bts are encouraging fans to put all the effort towards themselves to become stronger too. I think jungkook did an amazing job for his first fansong and second song he produced

I am so happy to see someone liking "So what" as much as I like it.. Honestly I am tired of seeing people saying they don't like EDM music.. Like I get it.. EDM is overused nowadays, however when used properly EDM is like one of the best music to hype up to and just let go and enjoy the song.. And I feel BTS really knows how to use EDM.. "So What" is my summer jam..!!
Also all the songs are so well made.. Tear, Magic shop and The truth untold were my original favourites.. However after watching the live performances of Airplane pt. 2 and Anpanman, I have been listening to them so much more.. Paradise has such pretty vocals and lyrics are so comforting.. I honestly like everything.. The vocal and rap line both killed it.. This is like one of my favourite albums...

his rapping style had changed since the WINGS also seen in ly her. but in tear, i've seen his older rap style and the husky(?) voice and got confused (i was a fan since the YNWA era and was used to this style)
i heard FAKE LOVE was like "who this?" (not literally) and then i realized it was the older Namjoon from Skool Luv Affair and D&W and it felt so fresh to the ears. i really loved this change :)

Outro: Tear takes the soundtrack (?) from the highlight reels, the fourth video. I was so impressed when they turned into this piece. It was interesting to see Yoongi rap in this style as well. Magic shop is indeed fucking magical! Jungkook did a phenomenal job writing and producing this song, it gives me chills and punch me in the gut with feels every time I listen to it. Joon’s line “I do believe you’re galaxy” is one of my favourite quotes by him (i have it as my Twitter handle lol) and to hear it in this song is such a pleasant surprise, the lyrics just does it for me gahhh and the part “you gave me the best of me, so you’ll give you the best of you” makes me tear up even after the nth time listening to it. These are things we know, we should learn to love ourselves yada yada yada but it’s easier said than done, I have a hard time doing it really and just, this song just hits me right in the heart :,) Another thing with this whole album, is that it is so fucking REAL, like PD said, it’s raw real and bittersweet and with that LY:Tear has won my heart. I cannot for the life of my chose my favs but if i had to, The truth untold, magic shop, anpanman and outro:tear stood out to me the most.

And the fact that he ended it with the word "Live", I felt that. Plus, the ending lyrics "You gave me the best of me, so you'll give you the best of you" is one of the most magical lyrics, ever. I love the whole album but I especially love TTU, Magic Shop, Anpanman, Paradise, & Outro: Tear bc of the lyrics which I can relate to so much. 💜💜

Honestly, ever since Love Yourself Her I feel like Jhope has really stepped up his game. His rapping just seems different to me in essence. He's personally stood out to me since I first got into BTS a little over a year ago yet he was always overlooked, underestimated, and not treated as well as the other members. I'm glad his fan base has increased, he deserves it.
This album has definitely slayed. I wasn't a huge fan of LYH with DNA but this album is at a whole new level. I'm proud of JK for producing his first song. It sounds amazing.
Fake Love is definitely one of my favourite BTS songs next to I Need U and Tomorrow. I love the pairing of voices in it, it's perfection.

Thank you for this. There are a lot of people/ARMY on the Internet who are unhappy with the LY series, saying “when will BTS get back to their original sound” or “Wings and HYYH were so much better” “they’re just trying to appeal to the American market, it doesn’t sound like Kpop” “it’s too repetitive, hopefully we get a good album next time”, and I couldn’t understand that kind of thinking. I love this album and think it’s a cool mix of new and old sounds. I always love your reactions and hope you’re doing well
Edit: wow I didn’t expect so many replies. To people who don’t know where I’ve been seeing these negative reactions to the album, I mostly saw them in YT comment sections of reaction videos. There are more people who like the album than dislike it, but I just was surprised to find out that there were quite a few people that were dissatisfied (and more specifically) the reasons why. At the time there weren’t a lot of reactions out and I was glad to find other people who thought the album was as good as I did. I understand that people are entitled to their opinion about the album, but I had wanted to share my thoughts and thank PD because I love his reactions and was happy that he gave such a well articulated review. I didn’t want to monologue, so I didn’t go into detail to explain myself more, but a lot of you replied the rest of what I was feeling. Anyway, you guys are awesome, I hope you have a great day❤️

im so glad bts made this album. not only is it amazing, it weeds out fans and kpop fans that are afraid of them going international. kpop has literally never been a genre, its an industry thats ALWAYS been inspired by american music and black culture, from dance pop to hip hop and etc. bts will never make the same album and always will grow and change. as an army from 2013, ive seen people leave them in 2015 w their changes in 2015 w hyyh and now w the ly series. bts are beyond the kpop industry, and theres a reason why many consider them incomparable worldwide.

LY: Her was a GOOD album (bts dont come out with subpar albums) production wise, lyrically but it wasn't most people's cup of tea. But Namjoon said this album would go to new heights and that lyrically it was darker and after seeing the concept photos I got a feel of the concept they were going for and although I had no clue sound wise what tear was gonna be I knew it would be much more style than Her was. Then singularity dropped and my expectations ROSE so much. Then we got the teasers for fake love and I knew this album would be amazing. The mv dropped and I honestly cried the song was so amazing. I've been an ARMY since 2013 when they debuted and I can honestly say this is one of if not the best title track bts have ever released. Its dynamic, it's catchy, the lyrics are on point and it successfully dethrones BST as a title track for me. The rest of the album is gorgeous too the truth untold dethroned spring day as my favourite slow/ chill song and the rest of the tracks... just WOW. I honestly think this is up there with Dark&Wild and is a tie with D&W for the best album they've released. I'm just in tears. This album is a mix remniscient of their older music (134340 reminds me of whalien 52 but at the same time its different), outro tear reminds me of the tracks off of O!RUL8,2?, some tracks remind me of HYYH and skool luv affair and its just a mix of bts' best music styles they've explored in previous albums all mashed into 1 incredible grammy worthy album. But despite being remnicscient of their older work it also explores so many new genres like the latinpop vibes in airplane pt. 2 and anpanman was like a fetty wap/ stir fry like song and also reminded me of old school hip hop. I'm just so impressed with bts and how they continue to grow as artists, explore new genres while also staying true to their hip hop origins (rapline SNAPPED. Hoseok was AMAZING he's gotten so much more skilled ever since his mixtape, RM went all the way OFF and unleashed the monster and yoongi became more diverse and experimented with rapping styles I've never seen him do before and NAILED it). And vocal line omg vocal line. After truth untold I dont want to see anyone say they have a weak vocal line. These kids can SING. I'm tired of ppl calling them second rate singers they truly showed off their vocal abilities in this album. Anyway it was amazing and as an army who's been here since the release of their second album I always find it funny when newer armys say stuff like "bts is becoming more american" and "I miss the old bangtan" because they're just tryna sound edgy lmao. Kpop is a rip off of american music and jpop. How can bts become more american when kpop itself is westernise? Stop the bs dgjhkg

you and reacttothek are the only reactor i've never skipped. most reactors dont even bother to look at the lyrics or even analyze the music. all they be saying is 'this is a bop' 'twerk anthem' or don't simply like it bcs they don't understand it, they don't analyze music as it is. you put your knowledge of music and your vision, how do you see the song, and you actually taught me many new things. to be honest your review made me cry. i stan bts since 2013 and hearing them getting this compliment, fulfilling your need of music makes me happy. cause that's all they wanna do since their debut, inspire and make people happy with their music but also deliver important messages. i teared up hard when you analyze magic shop, for me that's a very personal song and it lifts me up so much. oh and i'd love to see your vision of 134340 mv come true!!

I guess people who say that haven't been with BTS for too long..From 2013-2014 the music they released sounded much like what they did on Tear with a rock and R&B influenced sound. They were dragged when they did INU because it was more ballad/pop and didn't sound like thier previous album, they were dragged when they did BST because it didn't sound like INU. BST, Fire, Spring Day sounded nothing like anything they've ever done prior and they got dragged every time they tried something different. they were dragged for DNA and now they're dragged for this..I've come to expect it because bts will always try something new every time and you can never please everyone..but people need to understand there has never been one bangtan sound, they've had a different sound every comeback since the begining, just because you want them to sound like the comeback you fell in love with doesnt mean you can pigeonhole them to it. there is no "BTS style" they've lost.. get over it!

I’ve been an ARMY since their pre-debut days and, to be honest, I feel like I’m one of those people who actually appreciates what BTS seems to be doing now (and not complaining about missing this kpop vibe or whatever).
I remember how the change from Dark and Wild to The Most Beautiful Moment in Life sort of upset people because they were supposed to have a hiphop sound but then if that hadn’t happened, they wouldn’t have their first place in music shows (which might’ve saved them from disbanding due to debt [MIGHT]).
[HYYH took a while for me to adjust because I only liked I Need U and Dope.]
So I felt like changing and experimenting must always be a case when it comes to music.
Our fandom is growing everyday, especially the fact that many are international ones, so they can’t just forever be ‘hiphop’ or whatever genre it is.
I loved Wings because of their solos and it was such a successful album too because of their daesangs.
I understand how HER wasn’t everyone’s type (it took a while for me to like Pied Piper) because of ‘repetitiveness’
But, for me, I have to go with TEAR. I just loved the versatility of the genres:
    - Singularity had elements of neo-soul and jazz with breathy r&b ballad in 6/8 time
    - Fake Love had emo, hip hop vibe with grunge guitar elements and groove trap beats, almost like my emo self in the 2000s sound (like those synths)
    - The Truth Untold is way better than Dimple because everything was smooth and I love the progression near the end. Also, epic pleasant surprise from Aoki as well
    - 134340 is more lofi and jazz so I’m still getting used to that
    - Paradise had traditional r&b with smooth rap & flow
    - Love Maze had 90s r&b infused with trap sounds and relaxed beat
    - Magic Shop was amazing (well done Kookie). It still had 2!3! vibes since its a fan song and has those liting synths, bass track and snap beats
    - Airplane pt.2 was sexy and ofc had a take on tango. I know not a lot wanted latin pop but imagine it was actually those who are latin ARMYs so I thought it was nice for them to have that variety in it
    - Anpanman is more playful and had tropical beats with distorted auto-tune raps (sort of reminded me of Attack on Bangtan mixed with 21st century girls)
    - So What had EDM and build with no heavy drop. It’s also more for dance so this seems more appropriate for clubs and such. Understandable for those who don’t like it.
    - Outro was the best (funny for Jungkook’s brother to also think this is a hidden cypher 5). It was like a mix of blue side and sea because it was a somber hip hop ballad (in the beginning). It was powerful and dynamic and symbolized ‘tear’ as to cry and to rip
So, in my opinion, I think this was the best album they ever made. You can dislike any song but each song is different for a person with a different taste so it doesn’t have to be perfect.
But to me it is because I love versatile genres and this album is just the right one for me as it is well balanced and reminiscent :)
Also, the lines (except Fake Love and Singularity) were very fair and acceptable for me
    Just putting my honesty here

tear is one of their best albums since wings, they always display all sort of genres and I'm so glad they're getting more freedom to experiment and make songs they truly enjoy. The rapline's mixtapes prooves that they have a lot of different tastes in music and it shows in this album. All the songs are amazingly produced and written. Songs like Love Maze or fake love or anpanman sound like og bts like bst and converse high and dope, and then singularity, airplane pt.2 and tear show new, interesting sides of bts. Even the songs order in the album is on point. They outdid themselves 🙏 I hope they're proud !!

The thing I notice from all kpop groups is that the rappers all have unique voices. Like for bts I feel Hoseok has a very unique voice and so do Yoongi, as well as Namjoon who has a much deeper voice but it’s still soft. Just like in Pentagon where the main rapper Edawn has a veryyy unique voice. As well as female rappers like Lisa and Hyuna. It just surprises you as American rappers tend to sound slightly the same

I was no fan of BTS at all. My first impression of their fandom (Army) was really not a good one, I always watched from a distance how many controversial news got out about them (many that were evidently fake.) and how there were a lot of toxic comments from some "Army's" to other fandoms or even BTS themselves. It didn't felt welcoming or appealing at all to me.
I didn't listen to their songs (although I recognized that they were good.)
But man, after some time, I really got to see the real Army's, and the most human (real) side of each member of BTS. I saw the strength of both combined, I was very proud when Army made it possible for people at States of necessity to receive 1M dollars.
This album really earned my respect as well.
The diversity in it really surprised me, I must admit it is no wonder that they are just about the Number 1 group globally.
*It is this diversity of sounds and styles that allows them to reach the tastes and interests of many different individuals.*
If they stick to a style too much, it will limit them, and will only attract a certain quantity of people until it decays and doesn't work anymore (when it becomes tiring and too repetitive.) [Letting this here for those who whine because the want the same style.]
Now I'm an Army in case anyone is wondering, Bts and army earned my respect and appreciation. this album was the cherry on top for me.
    -thank you.

Just so you know, there are about 16million Armys on Twitter alone and the, let's say , worst tweet of an Army account (that was exposed as not one in the end) had less than 20k likes. That's not even 2% of the fandom! The ONLY ones calling Armys "toxic" are people from other kpop fandoms (the usual fandoms). Reporters, celebrities, or other artists who have interacted with Armys during many projects, have nothing but compliments to say. So it is REALLY surpirising for me, how you had that idea at first. Although I'm not an Army, it's obvious why this rumor is used again and again by specific fandoms, but once you interact with real Army accounts, you understand that it's not true. It's kinda of naive and it doesn't make sense to me how some would think that.

    • @purpleglasses4511
      @purpleglasses4511 6 лет назад +22

honestly every fandom has a bad side and a good side and if one chooses to focus only on the bad side, it's your loss. in my case tho, I've only ever been an army and I choose to be only that not bc I think other fandoms are bad or boring (altho I admit that much that I do resent some fandoms bc of bad personal encounters from them. I'm not a perfect person) but bc I've been so used to being in this one, beautiful family that's very passionate of bts that I chose to stay focused on them.
It's a tough job being an army, getting shit from every fandom, dealing w big companies messing w bts, voting, streaming, fighting prejudice and xenophobia the most bc of bts being the frontman for kpop rn taking all that bullet, being used for clout and "social experiments" and all while needing to live up to the expectations that yes, you can put bts to the very top. But my gosh the satisfactation of it all once we see the results of success and bts being happy. It's a ride. Hope you're having fun (even tho it's been 6 months alrdy lol)

I really love this album because it feels like a proper bridge of their older style mixed and incorporated with the stuff they’ve been doing more recently. It shows just how much they’ve grown and changed as artists and performers while still keeping something that is so inherently bts present and alive. I’ve been listening to the album basically nonstop since it dropped and even now I still can’t pick a favorite song or pinpoint who stands out more to me in any given track. They all did so well and I’m just so proud. (Also, you can’t hear it in the studio versions properly but I’m living for Jin’s vibrato in the massive number of lines he has in every live stage to date. Like yes, kill me with your vocals Jin!! He’s improved so goddamn much and I am living for it!!)

Also they are vocally talented, a mixture of soulful to the best way I can describe it is a midsummer night under the shades of a tree with its leaves gently dancing to the oceans breeze listening to a distance familiar song that toys with your emotions and ignites your memories, whether they be good or bad memories! Both vocals and raps are beautifully talented. Well done BTS, well done!!!!

Great listening party. I was so pleased with this album. Without hyperbole it is a dream album for me (not just by BTS, but in general) it ticks all of my favourite boxes.

also for people who's saying that this album sounds way to "american", remember that kpop doesn't contain only one type of song, its a free space, it can mixed with pop, rnb, rock, jazz, funk, house, edm, etc and it still called kpop

Love how you said 13430 has that celestial feel to it! Exacto. :) I love this about BTS--how they effectively make people feel and experience things just with sound. (But I also appreciate how they have songs with dissonant sound and lyrics!)
When you said "I can feel it in my heart" during Magic Shop's bridge, I know exactly what you mean. For every play, I think I replay that part to the end around 10 times before letting the song go. "You gave me the best of me so you'll give you the best of you" in my books is BTS's greatest, most beautiful, most powerful lyric. :) I love Magic Shop.
    Outro: Tear really is epic!

I’m not 100% but I think Outro TEAR uses the BTS highlight reel instrumentals in the back ground from before the LY concept

yess specially on the intro of the song you can hear highlight's instrumental. I think that's really smart and creative

I love this album. It went beyond my expectations. I wasn't a big fan of Her aside from some tracks but this album is really amazing.
If you listen to it more, you can definitely hear Hobi's significant influence here considering Hope World (Maybe that's why he stood out to you the most). I am honestly happy how diverse yet unified the album is. My favorite would be Airplane Pt.2, Truth Untold, Fake Love, Anpanman, and Tear.
For those who are saying that BTS lost their "kpop" sound, I think you haven't really been listening to them properly. You can hear their past sound but better/ improved and dynamic. Kpop is largely influenced by American pop/hiphop etc that's why It's funny how people think BTS is too "American" now. From here then on, BTS will change and grow and so is their music - and that's how artists should be.

tbh, for those complaining that BTS lost their kpop sound, they should honestly just listen to music that's not kpop and broaden their horizons... #sorrybae

"134340" instantly became my favorite song on the album when i first listened to it. especially RM's part. and "the truth untold" terrifies me... it's so incredibly beautiful and almost addicting, yet it makes me so emotional that every time it comes up on shuffle i have to pause it and ponder whether or not i feel strong enough at that moment to actually listen to it.

I never thought I would love anything more than the Wings album. But this sound snatched me. I am so happy that BTS is experimenting with different sounds. Tear is so mature, with fantastic lyrics which weave a delicate but hard hitting story. My favourite tracks are quite frankly all of them, although the Outro is in my opinion, a masterpiece and probably their best rapline song to date. LY:Tear is a phenomenal comeback for BTS and I am thrilled. Thanks for the great review.

Honestly I think LY: Tear is for sure a step up from LY:Her. Tear really incorporated their old sounds that were missed by older fans and mixed it with the newer sounds they've experimented with especially within the Her album. Personally I wasn't a fan of the overall sound of Her but I appreciated BTS' choice to try and experiment with new sounds. I think I might like Tear a lot more because of the overall cohesiveness of the album in terms of sound AND lyrics since they more or less stuck with this really cool blend of RnB with EDM elements and the message of "love yourself" was put forward and made a lot more clearer in the lyrics. Most of the songs followed this message of "you have to accept and love yourself before anything" so even if the style of some songs sound different, there's still a sense of cohesion through the lyrics which I really liked.
My personal favourites (as of right now bc it's been changing with every listen) are The Truth Untold, Magic Shop, and Outro: Tear
To be honest, I never really had a favourite BTS song until this album which really says a lot. I've been following them since 2015 and whenever people asked about my favourite BTS song I'd usually go with I Need U because that's the song that got me into them. There's never been a song that hit me especially harder than others but don't get me wrong, there's definitely been songs that have hit me reallllllllyyy hard (Tomorrow, Dead Leaves, Hold Me Tight are some examples) but there's never really been ONE song that I could call my favourite and it's bugged me ever since I got into them 3 years ago. I think it's really amazing how this album finally gave me that song that I could connect to on every level in terms of sound and lyrics and just that emotional pull I craved from BTS and I'm so glad I can now say that The Truth Untold is my favourite BTS song.

The background music for the Outro: Tear is actually the soundtrack from BTS' Love Yourself: Highlight Reels. :) Do check them out!

I loved both "Love Yourself: Ηer" & "Love Yourself:Τear". The truth is , that the latest album is more mature and diverse and certainly reflects BTS's musical growth. But I don't think we should compare the two albums bc the philosophy behind each one is very different... I hope BTS continue to give us beautiful songs in the future! Personally, I can't wait!

    I'll be honest.
When I first heard Outro:Tear and watched the live performance, my standards for Rapping as a whole just boosted to a whole new level that I didnt even know existed! Still one of the best Rapline song from BTS!
