    Then there’s also the filter’s resistance to flow (paper thickness and what max size particles can slip through) which might be independent of pleat number. Look forward to your next test.

      WIX filters are 1mm around bigger, so they fit very well and doing a great job if its about to filter micro dust and the airflow is great like almost a K&N, only K&N doesnt filter micro dust.

    Yet according to Project Farm's testing the FRAM Xtra Guard lets in up to 7X more particles past the filter sized 5nm and larger than the Puraltor One does and 14X more particles past than the WIX brand filters. The number of pleats just determines how often you have to replace the air filter, less pleats the faster it gets clogged and more often it needs to be replaced. More pleats does not improve the filtering, just the airflow when it gets close to the end of its life / all plugged up.

    You know I can't remember what brand of filter I've been using on our Superduty gas work trucks in the past as the parts store switched to Baldwin. Anyhow the previous brand is a rebranded Fram, its orange has a Fram P/N. You're right about fit and finish it feels and looks good, put it into the air box it fits tight, even getting the lid on the air box I have to push down to get the snaps latched. I have a new A/F on the back seat of the 6.2 truck I'm going to have a look tomorrow.

Glad to see however a comparison. I just bought what I bought back in the day, and just kept repeatedly getting the same stuff, no second thoughts. The Fram panel air filter looks decent enough. However, Ford Teck Makuloco did a video about how the Fram conical filters like those used on some Mustangs and F-150s have a defect where the round plastic "nose" portion pops off, allowing unfiltered air to pass right by the paper element. He didn't mention Fram by name but when he showed the orange filter and the missing nose piece it was pretty obvious. I like to stick with Motorcraft or Wix myself. But have used other brands like Purolator, Fram, and Champion without issues.

    Disregarding the sloppy injection molding on the ecoguard, it looks like it might have the best average filtration and flow of all of them. From the video it looks like it has a good amount of separation between the pleats, and they're not being super crowded like the Fram is which is going to reduce flow. I think I kinda want to go with the Egoguard next if its like that for my FiST. Edit: AC Delco everything sucks sh*t.

    You have to take into consideration air flow. The more filtering, the less the flow. So there has to be a happy median. Similar to the filter for your house furnace. Buy "the best" (more $$$) that filters down to small micron levels, but puts strain on your blower motor, or buy "the worst" (less $$$) that lets bigger dust particles pass thru, but your blower's longevity (and efficiency) will improve. Especially if you don't religiously change filters on a set schedule. I don't know why, but I always compare air filters to house furnaces, lol.

    I believe they test their air filters for CFM flow . The biggest problem with all factory air intake systems is that they are to restrictive. Every car or truck that i have, my personal vehicle's i drill a 3-4" hole in the side of the air box below the filter level to give each vehicle more air or more CFM flow. All cold air intakes are under the hood anyway were there is hot air, there is no cold air to that.

      You got to wait for the rest of the air filters to come in and as I'm ordering these things I'm trying them out I'm not going to get everything in in one shot so if somebody wants me to try something send it because this s***'s expensive LOL

      @@FordBossMe lol.. i hear ya... what you do is very much appreciated. could the relay for my a/c go bad? i was told it wouldn't. my compressor doesn't kick on. fuse in the dash is fine. start with cheap... or just 2/70 window down air..

    Attention people: Use caution with cotton filters they don’t catch as much as paper. And the oil has been known to a few folks to coat/damage M.A.F. Sensors. So please take those words into consideration while you do what you want, with what is rightfully yours to do with what you want to with.

      Thanks, what else did K & N DO , & your findings?.. ? Interestingly, I ran three vehicles ++250,000:(?) miles on three K & N; with careful cleaning,etc.:: no **known issues( e.g. MAF, ENGINE wear extra,etc),.many of my “ early” cleanings were highly Dirty,*& dust,etc. Anyways, I relicated from WARSAW INDIANA , TO: HELENA Valley MT, @ high Dusty / dirt:: some studies show some dust flows **through *K& N:: back to FACTORY MOPAR, *& GMC OEM on MY Two,vehicles ( my 2007 CANYON was some 120-130,000 on K & N) … no appreciable differences usinG OEM Air Filters.. Anyways, I,am,figuring FACTORY ENGINEERS know what they are doing: **air flow, specifications, media, fitments, etc. ; especially in this MPG RACE for cars.

    So no tests....no pressure/airflow/resistance tests or particle capture tests, and you RANK them? LOL. In tests on these that I've seen (airflow and particle capture), Purolator 1 and WIX did a lot better overall (in all tests) than the Fram or AC Delco. The others listed here, weren't in the actual test. Purolator are 2x the price of Fram, but...I mean, it's your engine...so....probably worth it, especially since air filters go 15k-25k miles.

      Project Farm is good but I'm kind of doing my own thing here and when people come to my channel and they try to take viewers away from this channel to go somewhere else is kind of like a slap in the face I'm doing my own testing hear my own way of doing it a little bit different than him in a little bit different way coming from a technician that's in the field that does this stuff every day

  • @scottfisher3948
    @scottfisher3948 Год назад

    who cares if it looks pretty? Purolator stops more dust and dirt than any of them without restricting air flow too much and that is why you buy an air filter.

    • @FordBossMe
      @FordBossMe  Год назад

      So other than you just saying that you presented no facts no nothing you just said something and you want people to believe it which is actually not true Fram does better at keeping the most dirt out overall and secondly humble yourself
      And I care if a product looks good or shiesty or whatever it may be so there's your answer and that should be good enough
