  • How does the iWata rechargeable USB fan stack up against the generics? Is it worth the extra money?
    Buy Online: www.lazada.com....
    At P385, the iWata USB fan is one of the most expensive on the market. But is that a bad thing? With a 12 month warranty, additional safety features, an 11 hour runtime and the peace of mind that comes from buying a branded item, many would say it's worth the extra money.
    After testing the CM15RHF-02 fan from iWata for around a week, I've been quite impressed. It has an impressive air flow considering how low power it is. I don't know if it's due to the high efficiency PCB, the unusual fan blade design or the fan motor itself, or a combination of them all. But whatever it is, it works!
    With a 1A charging input, you won't have to wait all night before you can hit the streets again with your fan. It also features a unique safety feature wherein it will pause charging the battery and only draw enough power for the fan itself, if you turn it on while charging.
    Personally I'd rather be able to charge the fan and use it at the same time, but I know many people will appreciate this additional safety feature.
    The supplied USB charge cable is acceptable but not great.

    buy digital anemometer it measures air flow in standard units .

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  8 лет назад +1

      +Kedar Nimbalkar yeah the reason why I was trying to think of another option is because I want to measure overall air flow and not just the max speed in a single spot. But with multiple spot measurements and some averaging , it would probably provide a clear enough comparison between different fans.

    Seriously this is an awesome review! I bought two of these, 1 is for my dog cage and one is for me because it is getting insanely hot in the country! I truly found this video helpful because I wanted a quality fan and this is definitely worth every penny. It just extends the life of the battery and I'm relieved that this will not blow up unlike the other cheap ones out there. Mine runs for only 8 hours in the lowest setting though but still, I'm not complaining. 😂Thank you so much!😊

      Thanks for the kind feedback and I'm glad you're happy with the performance of the fan. I've been using mine every day since it arrived and it's still going strong :D

      Gadget Addict hopefully mine does too! I'm torned between this one or the Cdr king one because both runs for a really long time but since this is your favorite and I really trust your opinion, I've chosen this one and I'm very happy with it. 😊 Does your Cdr fan still work perfectly?

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  7 лет назад

      My CDRKING fans are also still working perfectly. I've tested many fans and the iWata has the best airflow and that's why it's my favorite. But what I don't like about the iWata is that the battery doesn't charge while the fan is running. Ultimately iWata is one of the best out there in terms of materials used and the battery itself. But the CDRKING ones are pretty decent too.

    I have one of those cheap fans that looks like this. I wasn't impressed by the battery so I replaced it with an 18650 from a battery pack of a Lenovo notebook.
    It came on for like 5 seconds, then it burned. :)

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  8 лет назад

      Yikes, scary. I guess the problem with all the fans basically looking the same is that people assume they're the same on the inside and that the one selling for $2 is the same as the one selling for $8. I'm actually tempted to go on the hunt for some of the super cheap fans and see just how dangerous they are!

  • @EmilePolka

    I got this so I can use it to cool down my ONU and Router and for 24/7 operation, it only last about 6months or so. Mines already failed due to bearing issue, the fan doesnt spin freely anymore. The fan is set to #1 when I use it.
    I guess im back with standard CDRKING USB fan (literally USB fans not the usual portable rechargeable usb fans) and that last about 2 years now without having the motor failed.

    GA
    Get 1 pingpong ball, 1 protractor, 1 short length of cotton thread
    Hang pingping ball in front of the fan at a set distance
    Using protractor measure disrortion of thread from vertical with fan at each speed setting
    This will give you a relative measurement only
    I will leave it to other subscribers to provide an equation to calculate an absolute energy value 😝

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  8 лет назад

      Awesome, thanks for the suggestion :) One concern I have is that I might get similar results with varying sizes of fans. That's why I was hoping to find a way to measure the overall airflow rather than maximum speed or maximum power in a single spot.

    • @sibat777
      @sibat777 8 лет назад +1

      You could multiply the angle by the surface area of the fan to get a total air flow value
      Even if you buy an anemometer you will still only get the same sort of measurment just more accurate and as an absolute value
      I love your diy videos so this rather crude mechanisms seemed to fit in with those segments
      Btw i dont know if you follow 'blind owl outdoors' but i sent him a link to your pocket wifi signal booster as he lives way out in the province in bohol and can rarely get a signal at his house, i am hoping he will build one and try it out on youtube. It should be an extreme test, especially for the tranmit signal

    • @sibat777
      @sibat777 8 лет назад

      Of course if you want to get realy accurate measure at various points in front of the fan and average the deviation angle 😋 Then multiply by the surface are. Ok this is getting too nerdy now so i will shut up😀😋😃

    I was looking around on your videos man bud - looking around for a USB Mini Fan for my router to cool it off cuz it overheats specially at daytime (specially now since its summertime).
    Can I use this to cool my router off for a length of time? What I mean is - have you stress-tested it enough to consider it being safe enough to run say - 18 to 24h or even more since it'll be a cooling fan for my router? Wouldn't there be like short circuiting problems or overheating problems on the fan itself?
    and again Nice Videos. Nice Reviews. Really like it :) Please reply as soon as possible - quite urgent XD

    Can you replace the 18650 battery with another one? I have two USB fans and I cannot replace the batteries that came with the unit with the 18650s I use for my flashlights.

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  8 лет назад

      I've used other 18650 cells with the fan and not had any problems. Including a larger capacity 3300 mAh (allegedly) cell. The maximum current drawn during charging is still under 1A, it simply takes longer to charge. Why were you not able to replace the battery in your other fans? They're not removable?

      Gadget Addict Sorry, I just saw this now. In the two fans I own, BenGoo and another fan with no company id, but it has a model number F95B. When I tried several of the 18650s I have, at least 10, they were too long. I would have cracked the housing if I forced them in. I was using Thrunite, OLight, Orbtronic, and other Panasonic cell batteries. mAhs ranged ferom 2800 - 3400.

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  8 лет назад

      MonGo WonGo Ah okay. I guess they didn't account for the longer 18650 cells which include the protection circuit which makes them longer. This one has a huge spring so it can easily handle the longer batteries :)

    i thing you could use a portable anemometer to measure air speed or airflow. lazada has them. hehehe...

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  8 лет назад

      Yeah I was thinking about that. But that might show one fan to be faster than the other but the actual amount of air it's moving could still be less. For example a tiny but fast moving fan blade vs. a slower but larger fan blade. So I think my target should be to measure the overall amount of air being moved. That's why I was trying to fill up plastic bags with air and time how long it took. But it's hard to get a good air tight seal to make it an accurate test.

    • @asi146
