EXACTLY!!! Mary would probably be the one leading the judgment brigade if this was happening to someone else in the community. This is why Mary as a character is so frustrating in this show. She acts all high and mighty and dishes out the criticism but now is unable to take it when everyone else is dishing it out on her

You know what? The pastor’s prayer was actually quite a genuine prayer, and one a normal christian would pray. It’s nice to see that christians aren’t just portrayed as crazy wackos all the time.
True but he should not have come to her home alone, she should not have allowed him in with put her husband or children present and they should not have held hands to pray alone in her livingroom. Plus they didn't let go after the prayer, they might have kissed had Missy not broken in. First year Bible College students are taught this etiquette very early.

The way i see it, both George and Mary were pretty much done with eachother, however, as i recall nether of them have actually cheating just yet, but here the one that is important is Missy, because she knows both her parents are repeling one another

What I've always liked about this show is that the writers wrap the comedic moments around genuine family issues. I empathize with each of the characters for different reasons, but I'm gaining more respect for Missy. She seems to have the greatest deal of common sense and caring.
I completely disagree about Missy you call common sense to steal your dad's car,smoke,sneak out of the house for aparty,sneak out of the house 32 times for one summer,getting he belly button pierced(she's a minor), renting R rated movies, than it gets even worse in tbbt we learn than she's pregnant at the time when she told Raj that she's divorced btw she has 4 children 2 ex husbands and 1 ex boyfriend.....(Common Sense).

Mary needed a friend who would calmly converse with her and comfort her and she was getting that from Rob but sadly that friendship was missing in her own marrige so when she god it from Rob she craved for it more and i guess in a way got attracted to him but still conflicted and trying to keep loyalty to George...

George walked away from Brenda and started chatting with Dale or Wayne. Mary only talks to Rob who is circling around like a vulture. Only after the marriage is dead or she is unable to resist will he swoop in to get a piece.
George have made an effort more than once to make the marrige work. He also passed on his dreamjob to please his family, and she never has to do that. And furthermore she is not listening to him or doesn't care about his opinion, and she hides the letter from him aswell as from Sheldon. I like Mary, but she does things that make me feel that George deserved better than her actions.

If Sheldon is this stressed out now, it's no wonder the family begrudgingly sent him off to Germany and protected him from all the family drama. Even in TBBT Leonard didn't want to talk about the new neighbors upstairs, knowing Sheldon would panic and overreact to the situation.
People need to stop tip toeing around Sheldon. They aren’t doing him any favors.

The way I look at it Everyone in her church has abandoned her expect pastor Rob. While there is obvious feelings between them. If she were to distance herself she would feel as if she had no one.

Mary feels the pressure caving and there was already concerns for neglect and help on her end. George started having his own though and she emotionally sough help but the helper she ended up leaning towards ended up catching feelings and has seemingly played with dangerous boundaries. George sees it and started going to someone else who essentially validated him where he no longer felt validated where as for Mary it was the responsibility and desire to take a break from being depended on. George in his troubled state was not prepared to shoulder. Usually in a family when one pillar begins to weaken the others support and uphold them but here both parents crumbled and so who is left to support?

I felt Mary should have included George when interacting with Pastor Rob. Pastor Rob also should have asked for it, too. That would have squashed any opportunities for thoughts and impulses of infidelity from the beginning. It also would have kept George comfortable so he wouldn't get the urge to cheat as well.
Holding hands can be interpreted in a number of ways, and they should not have during prayer.
I think George is projecting onto Mary because he came very close to cheating and keeps having feelings for someone outside his marriage. Mary feels George pulling away and is tired and lonely so she is looking for someone to be her friend who also respects her relationship with religion unlike George and her mother. She has a small crush but she would never cross that line and does think of the pastor as a friend when everyone else just ignores, mocks, argues with or abandons her. She feels guilty for her crush but she tries to be open about any interaction she had with the pastor with George so he doesn’t get the wrong idea while he hides and lies about his interactions with Brenda even the seemingly “innocent” ones
I can understand why George feels lonely too and how his way of filling the whole he has is by emotionally and then physically having an affair but it is still very sad. And frustrating that he is pointing fingers at Mary when he is the one actually doing it/will do it.
Both are suffering in their marriage and it’s sadder to think of what will come from it all with Sheldon being traumatized by seeing his father actively having an affair and the repercussions of Mary and George’s terrible communication skills
Mary getting close to pastor Rob alone is playing with fire and rumors will start about the two of them
No wonder Sheldon doesn't like other people arguing and no wonder missy has relationship issues is because of the parents

This pastor Rob thing isnt straining it in the sense she was going to do anything (unlike George who was and does) but because he wanted to cheat and ends up cheating he puts that on her and gets super jealous because he intends on cheating.
George is the biggest strain in their relationship. Its fine being different its fine not being right for each other no one is the bad guy in that scenario however he intended on and does cheat. Its clear Pastor Rob is super into her and she clearly has a little crush going on but Mary wouldnt cheat. George was already going to and does. That is why he is assuming the worst of Mary. Because it justifies his actions in his head.

Then he went through the temptation of cheating with a person who finally gets him and appreciates him unlike his family. And now he sees that his wife is getting closer to her coworker that she is to him. Which is very hypocritical from her side as she always lorded above George with her Christian Goodness

Honestly, I'd prefer it if Mary does actually do something. George has shown time and again he's a faithful husband, a loving father and just an all around decent guy. To have straight laced Mary who acts so morally self righteous all the time be the one to stray would be way more impactful. I agree. Pastor Rob shouldn’t have stopped by unexpectedly. If he was truly concerned about the family. He would asked to visit when George was home. He knows this family is stressed and knows that Mary is weak, confused and vulnerable. He knows her church has deserted her and he is ready to move in to fill the void.
In the TBBT episode leading up the Sheldon’s wedding, Georgie comments that he was there to take care of Mom and Missy after George died. He says Mom was a mess. That leads me to believe that Mom and Dad never divorced. His statement begs the question: Does Mary feel bad about how she treated George, her affair with Robb or just in mourning? Georgie also says he tried to protect Sheldon. Protect him from what. Often people omit things believing they are helping but I think omissions can be lies. We will have to wait for seasons 6 and 7.
From what we have seen in TBBT, Mary bounced back. On the surface, she is still espousing Christianity. Also, Sheldon observed her having sex with a man who she calls Ron who she met in a prayer group and she says this has been going on for several months. Did she really mean Robb or is he out of the picture? She flirts with Sheldon’s boss and I think she had an interest in the father of one of the other characters with whom she goes back to her hotel. They were staying at the same place. So there is circumstantial evidence that she is capable of having an affair while George was alive. I think scripture teaches that the thought whether adultery or any sin is as bad as the deed itself.
George’s funeral should be interesting. Who would be the presiding minister? Will we get tho meet any other family members?. I think Mary and George had brothers.. Do you think Brenda will be there?
@@nymanjohn Yes I have thought about what Georgie said before Sheldon's wedding too about what he had to deal with after their Dad died too. And then when Young Sheldon came out I thought George would just die of a heart attack. But I think it will happen when he finally goes to bed with Brenda and I don't think Mary will cheat with the Pastor Robb. I think she was tempted to but held back. Probably will find comfort in his arms after George dies. It's fun just guessing what will happen as the writers have given us lots of clues.

My comment is going in a different direction, but I'm a Lutheran and my Pastor is the #1 person I go to for guidance. Whenever I have a tough situation or need advice, I go to him.
My sister passed away in October 2017, and last September, a week before her 5th death anniversary, that dawned on me, and I called his cell number sobbing at 9:30pm. He picked up and I apologized for calling so late, but I really needed to talk to someone. He gave me the advice I needed to hear without complaint that I called so late.
There are many things I have called or e-mailed him for, and he's never judging or critical, and once I apologized for e-mailing him so much and he said it wasn't an issue.
I should also mention that my Dad died when I was 9, and my Mom re-married a man who abused my sister and I behind her back, and she took his side. My sister went into a home for mentally and physically challenged people (she was too), and I went to live with my Grandma a year later.
I haven't had a real Dad to speak of in 15 years. (Today is June 6th, in exactly 3 weeks it'll be 15 years since my Dad passed.)
I recently told my Pastor that he's the closest person I've had to a father since mine passed. He said it meant a lot to him that I said that.
Young Sheldon may poke fun at the Christian faith a lot, judging by the clips I've binged, but there's a deep truth in this scene- Pastors make for great advisors and comforters. :)

So real of him. As a Christian myself who is also queer and tries to be as understanding as I can of everyone, I know a lot of other Christians don't feel that way. They say they do, but it is evident that they still have prejudices. God said in the new testament not to call any of his creation unclean, including the humans. They teach about Acts and how people still believed certain people couldn't be saved, yet they believe the same today, just with different groups.

I can't blame Mary for Rob's actions. He is the one that was trying to make a move on Mary and you can tell she was uncomfortable and when Missy got home early she freaked out because she didn't want it to look like anything but what it was and so much so that it sounded like they were doing more because of her suprised tone of voice. George actually did cheat according to TBBT when Sheldon talks about why he knocks 3 times. Mary & George may have both done wrong who knows and maybe thats why they stayed together until George passed because they knew that they both loved each other they just were tempted by Rob and Brenda.

Pastor Jeff had really dissapointed me in this episode. Until now, he was pretty cool guy with sense for fun and so, but also helpful when somethnig was going on. That ended now. He really should have preached about judging people rather than dismiss Mary from work and think everything was solved by that. He completely failed to realize that God cares about everyone, and does not approve of stoning people even metaphorically. Also, completely forgot that he himself is now in second marriage, this fact is also not ideal, because nobody is perfect, but when HE was going through awful times, it was Mary who was there for him and it was GEORGIE, out of all, who sympathised with him the most.
I don't think he has the authority. Pastor Jeff is his boss and the show has made it clear. That's why he visited Mary in her home all on his own - not that he's looking for an affair, but that's literally the only thing he can do within his power.

I read an article recently, stating that Missy and Paige wanted to go to Florida, knowing that Spring Break is taking place soon. When Spring Break occurs, that's going to be the time when George Sr is caught having sexual relations, most likely with Brenda. I'd like to know how this will play out with Georgie and Missy. More likely than not, they will notice Sheldon telling them non-verbally, or not telling them the while story, while Georgie and Missy's social skills put the rest of the pieces together, so technically Sheldon didn't tell them directly.
Why the FUCK would George and Brenda fuck in George's bed, and in his house when they could just go to Brenda's house and fuck and not risk being discovered? That makes no sense at all.

This is why I do not go to church... It is odd how true those things can be... People use god as an "excuse" and forget that there is a reason that it is called "to believe" ..... They first go to the churches to pray (why, when god is everywhere and is seeing all?) not to mention several lines of the bible (i have read all versions and also to kuran, koran - however you do want to call it) but then you do have a pastor, who I believe is about to lie in her face, using god just to get near her... I think it is pretty clear what he is truly doing this for and his thoughts are one of the sins "lust" and the people who are constantly praying for "forgiveness" are turning their back on someone who always was with them because of something she did not even do herself... I do not know how it is over your place but over here when I do hear things like "be there for your next" and when I do see that churches are mostly being the most expensive buildings of town I can not understand why it is so rare to hear that they are being used for giving cover to immigrants and alike... Is not this the main thing they want you to do and tell you to ?
