I mean, both songs he's played at these shows were originally recorded with Dave on drums, so in that sense it's not surprising. As I understand it, because Dave was primarily self-taught, his drumming style has evolved into something unique, to the extent that Taylor always said that he couldn't play those songs in exactly the same way. IIRC Taylor did have lessons when he was starting, and Dave was always happy to admit that Taylor could do things he couldn't (press rolls being the usual example). I'm sure that Shane has been learning from both Taylor and Dave over the years, and I'd bet anything that he can play both Dave and Taylor's styles equally well (while undoubtedly developing his own style over time). Given what Shane has to be going through right now, I can definitely understand why he'd be leaning more towards Dave's no-holds-barred approach at the moment.
Kids a pro already, can’t imagine the pressure and emotion for a performance like this. I hope he takes his Dad’s throne full time, if not now, when the time is right
The love & pride shining in Dave's eyes for Shane is beautiful. To all of us, these guys are the stars we love up on stage...but to them, they're family doing what they love together to grieve. No doubt Taylor Hawkins is smiling down on everyone 💜🖤
Definitely!! At first I thought he should be a kid a bit longer. But now after watching him a second time, he’s more than ready musically, and who better to watch over him as he enters the professional arena than Dave, Sean and the rest of fhe band.
This kid is amazing! I love how all the guys just watch over him and smile…. God bless him and all of the Foos Fighters… such a tremendous loss. Taylor lives on through Shane…
Shane proof blood is more mysterious than just DNA, it manifests magic as his drumming so is If possible, even more than Dave I wish for Shane’s healing and ability to move forward Losing your Dad at 16 is incomprehensible And as this song choice shows, Taylor was Shane’s True North, their talents intersected Dave losing Taylor and his own Mom surely is trying him but as an adult who also has been down this road before, my wish he can prevail For all Foos + Family, even us as diehard fans I extend condolences and caution to take care Somehow all will go forward, as life does The human experience includes death and although untimely and unfortunate let us Hope the Music Heals 🤘 RIP Taylor
I love when My Hero ends and Dave, Pat and Nate stare at him smiling until he starts I'll Stick Around. It shows that despite everything they were enjoying the moment
Imagine what this experience has been for Shane, he's gonna become an excellent drumer for sure, just imagine being able to play with the Foo fighters, your's father's band, at 16 years old...
Taylor Momsen manages to invoke the golden age Grunge vibe well, her voice is perfectly suited for all kinds of music, although it is sweet it manages to be raspy and grating at the same time. She does justice in every tribute she has been to date, she always ends up picking more than one song, all the musicians involved obviously enjoy collaborating with her. Hawkins' tribute she was a last minute guest and without rehearsing did two songs, Soundgarden's she was only going to do Loud Love, and got three more songs without rehearsing. She is one of the best things that happened to rock n roll in the last decade, a real gift.
The best I've ever seen as far as Drummers Dave's and Taylor's styles both come thru as You can tell He's watched them both closely over the Years I am sure His Dad's seat is open to Him when He's through with School and He makes the decision Himself Great Job Shane !!!
it's awfully touching how Nate Mendel sticks by Shane the entire time. Pat, Chris, and Dave go about their stage cues but Nate anchors himself to Shane as his fellow keeper of the tempo.
It's cool Shane made them play I'll stick around. I'd to hear deeper dives than them do covers all the time. Songs like No way back or Wind Up would be badass.
Can see at 5:59 Shane does a fill that no one expects and check out all the rest of the bands reactions! see Dave turn to him and say "that was bad ass!"
O Shane é brilhante igual ao pai. Consigo perceber alegria no brilho dos seus olhos. Simplesmente fantástico. Que ele continue trilhando esse belo caminho. Abraços em todos!
Thank you for sharing this! I was thinking about the sections behind and thought I bet some cool pic's come from these seats. Video is great! So glad you were there! XO

Increíble la fuerza que tiene y como se nota que le es terapéutico tocar. What an incredible strenght and it seems therapeutic for him to channel all his emotions
hey this is actually the best angle of all the amateur footage being uploaded because it's the most unique view.. we all know what a concert looks like from the audience.. you don't often get the view of the performer. on those rare occasions when I've had the opportunity to buy tickets to a show in the round, I've always gone for the forward facing seats. never sat behind.
I hope I'm not the only one overthinking the significance of shane playing these two songs back to back at home.... My Hero is self-explanatory, but I personally think that following that up with "I'll Stick Around" is kind of saying two things. First, Taylor's mark on this band and everyone's life around him is never going away, and second, I kind of feel like maybe Shane/the band are saying that these tribute shows aren't the last we're going to see of Shane on the drums in a concert setting in the future. I know he's only 16, but still... Like a few other videos I've seen, they all mention that the guys in the band have been like Uncles to all the other kids. I feel like, if Shane wanted to keeping going with this, and his mom says it's cool, he just might play with the band more as he gets older. The smart thing for Shane to do is finish school, grow up a little, maturity-wise, but I wouldn't put it past anyone in the band that they invite Shane to keep going out with them.
Is that NOT the same fill used near the end of “Winnebago” at the 6:00 mark? It may be sacrilege to say, but I think Shane did it better than his dad did! 😮
It’s a weird one. I pray that Shane gets the roll but something deep inside tells me it won’t happen. I’d fucking love it more than good. It’s a recipe for (no words; glory doesn’t touch the sides my friends). Tears have been shed (every time I watch this and Wembley; i fooking live, work and serve here). Times like these 🙏🙏🙏
Pat's smiles are everything! And how all the band members are supportive of him, for that matter.
Pat and his bottles of freakin Veuve on stage are EVERYTHING at some Foos shows ;)
They all look like Shane's proud dads :)
Amen to that!
I've never seen him smile that much (and he always smiles)
I kept thinking - Pat is the smiliest guy in rock and roll
Shane’s drumming reminds me more of Nirvana era Dave drumming than it does Taylor. What a beastly player. I wish him the best.
100%, he's smacking the shit of of those things
It DID remind me yet again that Dave is a monster drummer
@@SugarcatPlays You can do it if it's one or two songs, I'm sure he'd play noticibly different for 18 songs! But he's some player.
I mean, both songs he's played at these shows were originally recorded with Dave on drums, so in that sense it's not surprising. @@turricanedtc3764 so true, well said my friend
I love how Pat and Dave are so proud and protective of Shane. Shane is already a good drummer. He is destined for greatness like his Dad.
I love how they all stay so close and protective of him
Kids a pro already, can’t imagine the pressure and emotion for a performance like this. I hope he takes his Dad’s throne full time, if not now, when the time is right
That Boy.. he is the MOST LOVED young man on the planet right now! And it's justified! 🥰
The looks of pride that Nate and Pat are giving Shane throughout this whole video are priceless.
The love & pride shining in Dave's eyes for Shane is beautiful. To all of us, these guys are the stars we love up on stage...but to them, they're family doing what they love together to grieve. No doubt Taylor Hawkins is smiling down on everyone 💜🖤
Dude’s a beast on the drums. Well done Shane 👏
Definitely!! At first I thought he should be a kid a bit longer. But now after watching him a second time, he’s more than ready musically, and who better to watch over him as he enters the professional arena than Dave, Sean and the rest of fhe band.
Scared to say it, but I think he hits those drums just a little harder than his dad even. That kid's career is sealed if he wants it.
This kid is amazing! I love how all the guys just watch over him and smile…. God bless him and all of the Foos Fighters… such a tremendous loss. Taylor lives on through Shane…
I bet the day will come that we will all see Shane do an ENTIRE Foo show. Give him a little time first...
Nate so encouraging and supportive throughout. Well played!
He's already phenomenal at 16, I can only imagine what he'll be like in a couple years.
Shane is an amazing drummer like his Dad. I see a bright future with the Foo Fighters🫶💪💫
Shane proof blood is more mysterious than just DNA, it manifests magic as his drumming so is
If possible, even more than Dave I wish for Shane’s healing and ability to move forward
Losing your Dad at 16 is incomprehensible
And as this song choice shows, Taylor was Shane’s True North, their talents intersected
Dave losing Taylor and his own Mom surely is trying him but as an adult who also has been down this road before, my wish he can prevail
For all Foos + Family, even us as diehard fans
I extend condolences and caution to take care
Somehow all will go forward, as life does
The human experience includes death and although untimely and unfortunate let us
Hope the Music Heals 🤘 RIP Taylor
So well said!!
Yes! To all of this!
I'll always regret not getting tickets for this show, while still wishing it never had to happen in the first place.
I love when My Hero ends and Dave, Pat and Nate stare at him smiling until he starts I'll Stick Around. It shows that despite everything they were enjoying the moment
Dave counts it in. Nicely done though.
Shane’s a beast on Drums. 🤘 reminds me of Taylor and Dave’s style mixed. Soo sick dude
Pat's excitement makes this already cool moment even better. I love that guys enthusiasm.
Thank you for this angle. Seeing the faces the guys are showing Shane is priceless.
Love the joy when they find out shane’s waiting for them in the end of his drumming🎸🤘🏼❤️
Shane’s drumming is awesome. Dave sounds like he’s exhausted.
Imagine what this experience has been for Shane, he's gonna become an excellent drumer for sure, just imagine being able to play with the Foo fighters, your's father's band, at 16 years old...
I played drums in elementary school band, and live bands into my fifties. This kids channeling his dad. God blessed him
The pure joy in Pat's face!
Never seen anyone play with more love and soul than this kid. God bless his heart and all the Foos.
they all look like proud uncles❤❤❤❤
Thanks for recording from this view. He is incredible. Papa is proud.
Those 4 guys are forever his uncles and will forever support him. Seriously gives me goosebumps
Your dad would be SO PROUD!!! I love this so much, being a life long Grohl fan..sending so much love to the Foos and the Hawkins fam
Man, he’s a beast! What a great drummer!
So cool to see from this vantage point too! Such a pure talent
Fucking awesome! Incredible the strength he has 💥

2 songs with Shane, what a treat!!
Ive never danced so hard to a song before in my life. This was one of my favorite parts of the show
So beautiful! Heartbreakingly beautiful!
Awesome performance by Shane. I'll Stick Around is my all time favorite Foos song, wish I could've been there in person!
This kid is a wicked drummer!!!!!!!
It's cool Shane made them play I'll stick around. I'd to hear deeper dives than them do covers all the time. Songs like No way back or Wind Up would be badass.

Shane will be one of the best drummers of his generation...
Amazing ! The whole show! Love seeing these guys having a good time💙

This kid is Taylor's clone, damn real good. Keep it up shane
O Shane é brilhante igual ao pai. Consigo perceber alegria no brilho dos seus olhos. Simplesmente fantástico. Que ele continue trilhando esse belo caminho. Abraços em todos!
I drummed once for 5 minutes and got a leg cramp. I got another one now just from watching Shane drum...
I love how they all surround shane
I Stick Around
Was the first Foo Fighters song I ever heard. It changed my life.
✌️ ❤️ & Foo Fighters
Simplesmente de arrepiar!!! Fantástico.

Best camera angle ever!
Shane is Taylor’s Mini Me! He’s a Beast on the Drums!
When your dad is Taylor Hawkins and you uncle is Dave Grohl...well... you grow into a drumming beast.
You know that Taylor is up there beaming with pride of Shane
Somewhere, Taylor is beaming
Taylor would be extremely proud!
Ikr! They look like proud uncles!😂😍🥁🥁
incredible!

Pure rock 'n roll right there folks! Fuckin A!
Shane has another dad and that would be Dave. He'll always watch over that boy. :)
Shane for next Foo drummer!!!!
love dave's face at 8:40
legenda taylor hawkins ned hawkins shane lekend
Sign him up. At this point who else would fit after those performances?
Is that NOT the same fill used near the end of “Winnebago” at the 6:00 mark? It may be sacrilege to say, but I think Shane did it better than his dad did! 😮
Beast on Drums doesn't cover it. He destroys those drums just as animated as dad was. Well played Shane !!!
It’s a weird one. I pray that Shane gets the roll but something deep inside tells me it won’t happen. I’d fucking love it more than good. Omfg his dad taught him so well. 😮
they way they all look at shane😩
Shane needs to be your next drummer!!!!!
