- Art Garfunkel performing the Simon and Garfunkel tune Kathy's Song Live on speaking freely.
On the first of April in 2003, Art Garfunkel was a guest in the Speeking Freely show. This was a very special edition. Art Garfunkel performed a few song. Among that songs was this beauty, Kathy's Song.
Art Garfunkel says: I think this is Paul Simon's most beautiful love song.
Simon and Garfunkel - Kathy's Song Live
I hear the drizzle of the rain
Like a memory it falls
Soft and warm continuing
Tapping on my roof and walls
And from the shelter of my mind
Through the window of my eyes
I gaze beyond the rain-drenched streets
To England where my heart lies
My mind's distracted and diffused
My thoughts are many miles away
They lie with you when you're asleep
And kiss you when you start your day
And a song I was writing is left undone
I don't know why I spend my time
Writing songs I can't believe
With words that tear and strain to rhyme
And so you see I have come to doubt
All that I once held as true
I stand alone without beliefs
The only truth I know is you
And as I watch the drops of rain
Weave their weary paths and die
I know that I am like the rain
There but for the grace of you go I
Paul Simon was a brilliant songwriter in the day, but I truly believe he wouldn’t have flown without Artie’s voice
Definitely Paul Simon has a great solo career but, he is greatest with Art Garfunkel! One of the purest voices ever! 💕💕
Very beautiful!
Wonderful Paul Simon song!
Always angelic voice despite little bit tired
Paul was essentially turning poetry into music and Garfunkel would insert his majestic vocals and voila!
Couldn't have put it better myself! It is one of my favourite songs of the dynamic duo!
A poet and a one man band.
This is the result of giving a lyric and melody the respect they deserve. He's sung this song a thousand times, yet doesn't take liberties to showcase what he can do with his voice. He knows a beautiful song should be left alone to be enjoyed as written.
God bless Kathy Chitty for whom this beautiful song was written about.
Ethereal singing of a timeless song.
What a Wonderful.... Love u, Mr. Garfunkel
Heavenly voice!
So beautiful. He's such an expressive singer.
He is a treasure.
It’s amazing what a guitar and a voice of an angel can do.❤
The subtleties of Art's singing and his voice are what makes him one of the greatest (and sadly most under-rated) vocalists of our generation.
my favorite singer, because of his angelic voice, he sings with his heart! my soul is moved
So soothing to the soul. It gives those Chicken Soup for the Soul books a run for their money.
The music of my youth. One year shy of being 50 yrs since I first listened to this duo. First recorded music I ever heard.
I feel blessed that I was a teenager in the 60's when all these great singer /songwriters and bands emerged. It was before techno pop, grunge, rap and all that shit. Do I look back nostalgically? Yes for sure but more than that there is all this music that has stood the test of time . I remember going to the cinema to see 'The Graduate' with it's amazing soundtrack, and the 'Easy Rider' ; and I remember one Tuesday evening watching a programme on BBC2 in the UK called 'The Old Grey Whistle Test' when the host Bob Harris introduced the title track from Paul and Art's new album 'Bridge over Troubled Water'.Although every generation has it's heroes, how many will be singing Taylor Swift's songs in 50 years time.
I WAS A SENIOR IN HIGH SCOOL ,CLASS OF 68 ARAGON HIGH SAN MATEO CALIF,.SUCH GOOD MEMORIES
This is one of the most beautiful songs of unrequited love .
Even then I seriously doubt if the younger generations can relate to these songs .
We who grew up in the 60's are now old and grey .
These songs will die with us .
What a great guitarist.
I feel and hear my youth returning to me. The finest duo ever
Is it me or the way he sings some of the words in this video of the song, it makes the heart like melt?
One half of a duet of all duets, whether together or alone will I hope will remain one of the greatest of this era. In my humble opinion can only be described as awesomely beautiful!
When was it a duet? On the albums it's just Simon. Here it is just Art.
Merci beaucoup Monsieur Gardfunkel.merci pour ce beau moment
Merveilleuse chanson. Merveilleuse interprétation. Je vous adore
This song 🎵 just gives me perfect peace
Fucking beautiful
yup.Rog.
Beautiful
I love Paul’s voice equally. Amazing diction
To England, where my heart lies.
Just extraordinary
Artie you're the man. Dont you ever forget that
This song has spoken to me for almost 60 years!
もう一度。ライブ。行きたいですね。
This is one of my favorite interviews. The interviewer is great! The gentle exchange and respect they both show are very nice.
Art singing all Pauls' just shows that theres no trouble between them..they still care for each other..
❤❤
J'adore il est super
And so you see I have come to doubt
All that I once held as true
I stand alone without beliefs
The only truth I know is you
Such heartrending lyrics 💔

What a voice ❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great!
I love them both and more together. Artie is the singer for ballads. So wonderful, delicate and sweet voice. Paul is the genius as a songwriter. Thank you both, guys, thank you for your magic! ❤❤
Wonderful
For ppl thinking this might be a playback (coz it sounds so good)...i know a little about guitars, and at least the guitar seems legit. I mean, it could not be connected anywhere and in fact be a playback, but the things he was doing on the guitar is all legit.
I remember Art looking like Adonis in his young years 💔
This is a very good rendition. What a beautiful voice! By the way, is it playback? The sound is very good!
No it isn’t playback. Simon or Garfunkel have never playbacked or used autotune by themselves.
@@simongarfunkelvideos8468 Ok! Thanks for your clarification.
Imagine opening your mouth, and THAT comes out. Sorry. Can't...
Who's playing the guitar?
All excellent, but a tad too fast with the guitair;-)
Simon went on and had a brilliant brilliant solo career after they broke up he did just fine without Garfunkel Garfunkel on the other hand I don't know did he make a couple of albums nothing really note but Simon he's also Garfunkel on the other hand I don't know did he make a couple of albums nothing really note but Simon he's also albums like still crazy after all these years the brilliant album Graceland Paul Simon did just Garfunkel on the other hand I don't know did he make a couple albums nothing really note but Simon he's also albums like still crazy after all these years the brilliant album Graceland Paul Simon did just Without Garfunkel and Simon turned out to have a really beautiful voice and so Garfunkel and Simon turned out to have a really beautiful voice and soul So it's crazy and even stupid to think that Simon would never have flown without Garfunkel's voice it's just ridiculous
That is just nonsense that Paul Simon would not have flown without art Garfunkel's singing and voice For an example When they broke up And Simon went on to make great album albums solo albums on his own Still crazy after all these years The great great Graceland I mean he just went on brilliantly in his solo career I mean he just went on brilliantly in his solo career What Garfunkel really did nothing he made a few albums it didn't put a What Garfunkel really did nothing he made a few albums it didn't put a dent in it he was nothing without Paul Simon's What Garfunkel really did nothing he made a few albums it didn't put a dent in it he was nothing without Paul What Garfunkel really did nothing he made a few albums it didn't put a dent in it he was nothing without Paul Simon's brilliant writing And yet Simon Went on with a brilliant career and had a great voice of his own Just nonsense the thing that Simon wouldn't manage anything without Garfunkel Can I I hate to be mean but people can be so stupid sometimes
If these two won't make peace with one another before they kick it, in the age they are, that will be the biggest nonsence of all.
