I'm not down for the gaslighting. Steele was RNC president when the Tea Party formed as sub group within the Republican party during the Obama years as response to a black family in the White House. He didn't tamp that movement down nor did he have a John McCain moment and say no the fear mongering they promoted. Why, because the RNC profited greatly from this. Next his question to that audience was loaded. The states that enacted the election laws are mostly those with Republican governor and legislators. I want to know how many Democrats did the same. I was not a coincidence that the elections were so in question until the Obama campaign targeted and mobilzed African Americans at a level that hadn't been seen before. Once Gen Z started voting the they intensified their efforts. I call BS on Steele staying in a party that does not want him in it. He will not turn it backwards and they dont give a damn about the supposed mirror he's holding in front of them. They like what they see in the mirror...period!

He was chair (2009 to 2011) not president (they have chairs not presidents) to the rnc when the tea party formed as opposition to Obama's presidency in 2008.
There has always been that movement inside the reputard's party. How could one man stop a movement that has had several names and been in existence since slavery?
So...once Mike saw how the reputards were moving back to preslavery behavior he removed himself from the party. He did not quit the party but he continues to be a vocal voice against the party.

As a young teenage black girl raised in Louisiana, I registered to vote on my 18th birthday as a Republican. I considered the issues versus the popularity of candidates, and we had notorious crooked politicians. Eventually, I left the party when I disagreed with his politics; was registered Independent for a few years, then finally, as a Democrat, after I could not vote in a presidential election in Louisiana due to its closed primary process. As a former Republican, I understand Micheal Steele and agree with him on a lot of issues. There just aren’t enough like him who won’t give into the foolishness.

We don't all want the same thing. Some of want to solve problems collectively, while others want to solve problems through privatization or individually. Some of us want the concept of human rights to evolve the same way that technology, science and medicine evolve, while others thing 18th century human rights conceived by a select few is more than enough for today's society. Some of us want equity, equality and justice and others don't. I think maybe we complain about the same things, but disagree on how to solve them or if they should even be solved.

This is why we should do away the party primary voting. It should be open primaries in all states and with all parties. Top 2 with most votes, then battle it out in the general and Vice president should be separated out as well. This is why I am independent. I am not tied to a party but to the issues and my needs.

This is a moment in time where everyone absolutely has to pick a side, for our humanity, or not. The Republican party has been overtly anti-black since the civil rights movement, and any black Republican claiming allegiance because of the party's past is just as duplicitous as its party members are on the issue of race in America. The Republican party offers NOTHING for common black folks and not too much more to the black elite that rationalize, defend, and embrace them.

I agree. The majority of us should be Independents and let the parties come and negotiate for our votes. At the very least, black voters should be registered in equal numbers as Republicans, Democrats, and Independents. Registration is not synonymous with how you vote. The system should have zero sense of where our loyalties lie -- except the sense that it lies with ourselves, not it.

So that tells me when I make enough money to where I don't owe I should stop working it's crazy and you struggle to make it working crazy overtime and from what you telling me the math ain't mathing
