I’m a retail pharmacist and I’ve learned more about dermatology and OTC care watching your videos than I did in pharmacy school. I get asked questions like the ones you answered today all the time so thank you for educating me so I can better serve my patients!
That's scary.
Me too!!! I love discussing skin care basics with my pharmacy customers as well. It is great to share this helpful information with them as a good starting point of care that often works. Next step is to follow up with their dermatologist and share their OTC first steps. Always share what you have tried and the response received. It is such a joy taking good care of our largest organ that helps to protect us. I love being a derm geek!! Absolutely fascinating topic in health care!! Best tip: sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen🧴 😀
@@NLJ3167 Not really. Pharmacists have advanced degrees in medication science, with an overall objective to keep consumers safe. Basic OTC skincare is probably not a huge part of the curriculum because it’s comparatively less important.
@navyfarrow5333 with as MUCH skin cancer out there? 🤔 not sure that's 'not as important'...
You answered exactly the question I was looking for! Order of application of insect repellent and sunscreen: sunscreen first, repellent after spf dries. Reapply sunscreen, but not the repellent and don’t use products that combine both of them in one formula. Great video!
My brother in law has a rare liver disease called PSC and gets these sores and itches all over. He has that Cerave anti itch cream with him at all times. It’s a life saver for him. He’s on the liver transplant list. Praying he can get one soon! Love your videos! So informative!
Praying for your BIL 🙏🙏
Praying for your brother in law
My dad just got his liver transplant 11/16/23. Hope your BIL gets his soon!
The queen has posted, time for class
5:48 this is one of the best things out of the million I have learned on this channel. To not use neosporin but instead petroleum jelly. This has made such a difference in my life especially since I have two kids
Dr Dray I go to Walmart for all of my needs. They are so much cheaper… some products can be even $3 more at those other stores.!!!! Nowadays most of us need to budget anywhere we can! Thanks for the info.. 👍🏼
I look like I’m responding to a HAZMAT event when I mow the lawn to protect me from ticks. I have a lot of deer in my yard which I absolutely LOVE, but I worry about the ticks that fall off them. It could be 100 degrees but I’m out there mowing in my snowsuit just in case. That repellent you showed looks much easier. 😂
😂
I wear a hoodie and jeans just to get my Mail. Yellow flies are Hell.
@@Fish_FL. I had to Google "yellow flies" as I wasn't familiar with them here in Minnesota. Eeeks! They look terrible! Makes total sense to suit up against those guys too! 🪰
The Deep Woods off works great but I hate the feeling on my skin. Better than a snowsuit though! Lol! 😂
@@marylawman8603
I can’t use it any longer. My body reacts badly to it - numb tongue, nausea, throat feels like it’s on fire…overexposure is what it is.
Even if someone nearby already has it on, the same reactions.
Paula’s Choice Lipscreen is a great spf lip balm! There’s not a weird taste or smell to it either.
I love Neutrogena Revitalizing and Moisturizing Tinted Lip Balm with SPF
Where did you purchase it?
Thank you for these tips!!
@@Raisin9502 Paula’s choice website. It looks like it’s out of stock at the moment ☹️
Dr dray!! Could you try some of the ordinary’s new products (in particular their saccharomyces toner)? I know youre constantly asked to try new products but even a breakdown of the ingredients would be wonderful
I have some old, but man does it work, summer advice. Take castor oil and put it on your scalp if you're going hiking in deep woods. It doesn't have to be thick, but this is how my grandmother stopped ticks from being able to attach to your scalp. It works beautifully and washes away the next time you shampoo.
Cinnamon oil, on the other hand, was shown to be one of the most effective (of the minimal risk oil repellants).
I find hypochlorous acid very helpful, especially in the summer.
I just started using it & my bra area & armpits are going to love it this summer. Already bought a backup, I feel like it's going to trend really hard soon.
That's exactly where I use it. It's been really helpful with keeping armpit folliculitus at bay!
Also, I've bin using it on the rim of my hat.
Lip sunscreen I love: Nivea Sun spf 30. Got it on Amazon, 2 for $9.
My tinted face is Revlon kids balm w SPF but I've got some k beauty options coming!
I tried a benzoyl peroxide cleanser under my arms. I had no odor all day even though I was at work and sweating.🙂
My BP experience has been amazing but when I switched from 10% gel to cream, it did not absorb fully & I got stinky!! Picked up the gel today! My son just finished puberty last year at 22 so he's had more stink to deal with than his peers. I gift him Pan Oxyl cleanser & soap a couple times a year, it really helps A LOT. And I know he's going to keep buying it, he's going to be a middle school teacher in the fall & he knows those kids will say something if he stinks!
@@montananerd8244 I just use a BP cleanser under my arms. I lather with water in my hand, then rub in my arm pits and wait 3 to 5 minutes before I get in the shower to rinse it off.
The Hadalabo Water Lip line is SPF 20 with zero sunscreen taste if you accidentally get some in your mouth. It has all the new filters. Can’t recommend enough.
There’s a new-ish bug repellent, Picaridin. I’ve found it works just as good as DEET and works particularly well to repel ticks.
Kerasal works grrrrrreat. Probably not treating the fungus but it sure as heck makes my nails look normal.
Where do you find the lip balm?
Fantastic! We’re going up to the lake this weekend so this couldn’t be more timely.
I am always looking for a non-fragrance or non-flavored lip balm too. Wish Target would come back with the one they sold. Using Coppertone Sport right now and really like it. Purchased from Amazon.
Chapstick original is the best (per most research, and my opinion lol) and I think it's unscented. I wish Palmer's had kept the SPF in their balms, they were freaking perfect.
9:45 Yes, community pools exist😂 wear sandals or filp flops in locker rooms and the showers!
Sunscreen lip balms are often found in the travel sections
$26 for any Cerave product is about double the price I usually pay. Stores are charging ridiculous prices sometmes due to availability is my guess.
Being on "accutane", my summer's gonna be sun-free -.- A looot of sunscreen yaaaay
This is a great “stock up for summer” video and guideline. Thank you ❤
I had a planters wart before. It was insidious! I could not leave it alone. I used cuticle trimmers to remove it. And patches. And just like you said, one day it was gone!!
And I almost missed it 😂
Blister 5 Star Lip Protection SPF 30 is my favorite and 2 for $3.69 at Target
Target has an Up & Up brand sunscreen lip balm that is spf 50. It tastes horrible, but I find it to be moisturizing.
22 minutes, no shrinkflation on this channel
💯
I get poison ivy a lot from gardening, and I find cbd balm helps calm the itching. I now also preemptively shower as soon as I get inside -with generic anti poison ivy cream-and then I slather (prescribed) triamcinolone acetonide on exposed areas. This has helped enormously, as I scar easily!
That cream works miracles on my eczema!
@@PAMELAPORTER-ci7mr I use the same Rx topical cream for treating breakouts of PMLE (Polymorphic Light Eruption- basically an allergic skin reaction/rash to UV rays). It has also helped me a lot! I actually thought I might have had Hand Eczema before I was diagnosed with PMLE, as it first showed up similarly on my exposed hands in the sun during late Spring. I can imagine it works super well for eczema itch as well! Best to you
Thanks Dr Dray! Gonna keep this one to go back to! Very informative😉
Awesome to see a colored top again. You look lovely in the pink.
I used to be able to use Deep Woods OFF. I have a bad reaction to it - tongue gets numb (even if it was sprayed), throat burns, nasal passages feels like they’re on fire. I just have to smell it on someone else. Maybe overexposure…?
Most chemicals cause my MCS to flare up…even when the neighbors are doing laundry and they use their clothes dryers.
I find spf lip balms at the golf course store. Also Walmart had banana boat spf lip balm just this past Sunday
Happy Tuesday, Dr. Dray ❤
With Summer right around the corner, these tips will come in handy. Lots of mosquitoes and biting flies where I live so I'm always searching for anti itch creams that will work. I'll try your suggestions but not the $27 Cerave! 😂 Thanks as always for these helpful tips. Happy Monday, Dr Dray! I hope you have a relaxing evening. 💚
Happy Tuesday Dr Dray so excited to be here I live for this ❤️

I am beyond surprised that you said Benedryl cream is useless. I have the generic version and it is the best thing I've found for contact dermatitis skin irritations for me...and I've tried everything...even a prescription of triamcinolone acetonide 0.1% ointment, which did nothing but increase skin's itchiness & tingling not to mentions getting all over my clothing, sheets, furniture, etc.
Don’t forget to wear your big ole hat too!!! ☀️
I love Dr Drays big ole hat! Makes me want to get one. I'm pretty petite and my head is small so I'd have to buy a kids one. Lol! Happy Monday, Uncle Charlie! I hope you had a wonderful day. Peace, joy and many blessings, my friend. 🙏🕊☕👒
@@marylawman8603 my hats big enough to be used as a umbrella for a lady! 👍🏻🙏
My favorite spf lip balm has always been the one by O'Keefe's, but i agree, that one has become hard to find too.
Thank you for all the great information, I appreciate how you educate us! 🥰
i’m here just to fall asleep. her voice just makes me so sleepy it helps with my sleep schedule
My nose was freezing cold when I woke up in the middle of the night (it's going into winter in Australia). So I spontaneously created a hack. I peeled apart a make-up round and placed it over my nose...like a "nose cosy". My partner thought it was hilarious & ingenious. It is better than turning on the heating overnight. We will have to put our electric blanket on soon. What do others do to keep their noses warm?
👱🏻♀️♥️
Haha I bet that was a sight! I have a small blanket I wrap over my head when I’m very cold in winter, kind of drape it over my nose.
Thanks Dr. Dray for another really educational video. 😊
Love your videos!! Look forward to them everyday!!
Happy Tuesday Dr Dray! Summer is always a tricky season for me due to all the humidity. Very interested in your tips. Thank you!

@@DrDrayzday This video had so many great tips for me! I needed to get my notepad!
It was educational and informative! You always check that box because you rock!
Use a 4% benzoyl peroxide wash to start versus 10%. It works best for my sensitive skin.
For poison ivy dermatitis, calmoseptine is the BEST. calamine, zinc to dry oozing and menthol that acts almost like a itch interruptor.
Hello, watching you on my lunch break in Maryland 😉 that would be so cool to run into you in a store esp while you're doing a video 🥰
Happy Tuesday Dr Dray…see you tomorrow x💙🤩
I have had a lot of luck with Korean/Japanese lip SPF/PA++ products. They dont have that bitter sunscreen taste and some actually keep their color for sometime. I actually give the to my neices for stocking stuffers as something novel and useful.
Could you please clarify whether tretinoin and azelaic acid are fully absorbed within an hour and if their efficacy matches that of the standard all-night treatment? I am curious about their absorption rates and potential efficacy, particularly in topical application, and would appreciate your expert insight on this matter.
Educational, as always! 👍
I so needed this video today! Thank you Dr Dray !! ❤
So helpful! Any thoughts on Tecnu products for poison ivy?
Actually Neosporin helps with pain! It really does!
Also the Benadryl stick works for bites (mosquito)itching, also random hives!
Good morning Dr Dray ❤
Morning!
Is it just okay to wear Vaseline on the skin outside in the sun?
Any advice on body powder that doesn’t cause yeast to grow on the skin?
Im in Houston too and the mosquitos are killing me! Those creatures even come in my house any time the door is opened! Ive itched till i bled and cortisone has not helped. Good to know the ingredients in neosporine pain relief can help
they are so intense this year 😬
Same these mosquitos are HORRIBLE!! Hope you guys are ok from the storm we just faced. 🙏🏻
♥️♥️♥️this content, thank you Dr. Dray🍓🍓🍓
Do you have any advice on like the sunscreen kind of making my skin feel like it can’t breathe? I use a physical bc I’m sensitive but no matter what I’ve used I feel like I’m locked inside my skin and I sweat more than I’ve ever
I know what you mean. Have you tried any Asian ones? They really feel like lotion and not a film/layer like US ones
@@Hemmyii I can take a look at Ulta for some do you have any brand recs?
Thank you, Dr. Dray, for this timely content! 😊❤️🌞
Dr Dray, have you ever heard of Great Wolf Lodge? Indoor family water park. Large shared hot tubs, wave pool, lazy river. 🤮
I think there’s one in Wisconsin Dells.
Yep and there’s other companies that have those indoor water parks. I always called them festering cauldrons of bacteria, viruses & fungus bleah!
Dr. Dray, Could you do a video on the medications that can cause Keratosis Pilaris ? I have it now and read on the med insert it can cause it. Question: Can I treat this?
In other words can I stay ahead of this.
I have (diagnosed) KP + several chronic conditions, but my Dermatologist never mentioned any of my medications could possibly *cause* KP to become more pronounced or appear. May I ask if it’s a topical treatment Rx or a pill, etc. insert for which you read this info??
@@Lesaly No problem, It’s Propanol
In pill form. I was wondering if other meds cause it too
@@elderlypoodle9181 Thank you for sharing. I have normal-low BP at baseline, so have never been on that medication before, but I know it is sometimes used off-label for several other reasons besides BP. Especially since it is an older medication, I too have to wonder if other (especially newer) medications can potentially cause KP, yet the link(s) still have yet to be discovered. Fascinating!
What about the skin tag oil I saw? I really want to believe that will work. Does it?
If you read the directions of the sunscreen spray it says rub in. She speaks the truth!
Compound W freeze off was the best and easiest way I ever got rid of warts on my daughter's hands
Can we get a natural make up routine please? I love that.
Blistex has a lip sunscreen with SPF 30. It’s called Five Star Lip Protection and it’s not bad.
domebro is THE BEST!!
I tried using a different brand of deet and it was ao strong it ruined/removed my nail polish!
Thanks so much Doctor.
Thank you Dr. Dray for sharing these tips 😊 Could you please share your thoughts, Dr. Dray ... I just read this online recently... using Aquaphor to "gel" the eyelashes to get volume without mascara? I wouldn't use Aquaphor on my lashes 😏
This reminds me of the 1960’s when models would use Vaseline on their lashes for a no mascara look.
I wonder if that's similiar to folks who like using castor oil on their lashes?
@@db-gb5xi I think castor oil is for growth and Vaseline for a thick look🤷🏼♀️
Can you review the black girl sunscreen lip gloss SPF?
As always SUPER useful advice. Thank you!
Thank You Dr.Dray 🙏🏽💕
That shirt looks so good on you!!!
Happy Tuesday all xox
Happy Tuesday
Dr. Dray. Curology has an all mineral SPF for the lips.
The Panama Jack spf lip balms are great
What do you think of barefoot shoes Dr Dray?
Would love to see the view from a dermatologist on the new Cera ve cleanser with benzol peroxide
There is a hack of broken powder makeup to pour rubbing alcohol into it and let it dry for 12 hours. Will this hurt your skin or is it ok to do?
Would love an update on DNA repair enzymes (serums, sunscreens, etc).
curious about your thoughts on picardin vs. deet! I switched to picardin-based because of the smell and non-greasy texture.
Are you saying topical Benadryl is completely useless or useless against poison ivy?
Funny cause my mom just said the same thing. got poison oak a few weeks ago, she used that Benadryl gel and said it still itched.
Hi Dr Dray, i hope your having a good day its always fun shopping with you! What do you suggest to use on the face for a allergy rash?
Maybe check her video, how to heal and prevent skin irritation.
@db-gb5xi thank you 😊 I found a couple of videos that were helpful
I can’t find an spf lip product that doesn’t have an awful bitter taste that makes its way into my mouth. The classic Chap Stik spf 15 is the best, but I worry the spf isn’t high enough.
maam could you do a video on acne scar revision surgery like through punch excision or direct excision?
I used the cerave itch lotion when I had shingles…. It did nothing 😢
But I am assuming nothing would have helped me during that time
How do you get sunscreen on the hard to reach but commonly sun damaged areas like the shoulders ( if you don’t have anyone to do it for you)
I use a rubber spatula or a wooden spoon. 🙂🙃
Female washes???! I understand you've said plain soaps and water for the vulva but is Baby Dove ok? For the front and back?
I just learned that the Jack Black lip balms have SPF and they are only $10 at Sephora.
Hi. I’m using tinted Australian gold mineral sunscreen on my face but I know that you need to apply 2 fingers of it for protection but it’s too much with it. Is it enough protection to use one application lightly or should I mix it with chemical sunscreen?
Do you have an opinion on whether picaridin is better than DEET for skin?
Hello Dr!
I am seeing a lot of videos on micro needling with infused serums; what do you think of the treatment? Can you do a review on these treatments?
18:01 the CBD producs with essencial oils. With respect for science, but in that case the CBD can be much more a marketing calling than actually CBD enough to benefit. If It didn't have CBD it could work too. We don't have products with CBD in Brazil (I think) but we have a lot with natural ingredients, it works well and the level of essencial oils are low and safe. I think that companies started to sell "things with CBD" for the marketing appeal and the people not aware of the other actives inside of it.
Sarna anti it h is the bomb!
Do you have a recommendation for sunscreen or spf tinted moisturizer that does not cause acne, does not give a white cast, still looks good under makeup, and is somewhat affordable? Every one I can’t wear because of at least one of these reasons. Elf Suntouchable invisible sunscreen seemed great but caused me to break out a ton.
I like this one from e.l.f amzlink.to/az01AzGjna2DW
@@DrDrayzday Thanks! Do you think this is likely to cause me to breakout if the Elf Invisible Sunscreen did?
