Hello! First time watching one of your content, and I love it. Wonderful how one can find all kinds of tips and tricks with various items. To top it off, it's like making new friends all around the world. I do have an additional suggestion for what to do with onion skins. which I've used over and over again. Turns out onion skins are a powerful inflammation fighter! That's right. What you do is store the outer layers of the onion skins (the dryer the better) in a jar, no cover though because that will promote mold. Anyway, I crush /chop the skins once they've dried and put them in a loose leaf teabag. Make yourself an onion skin tea! I can see your faces now, eeewwweee I'm not drinking that stuff ! I like to add a bit of honey and a few squeezes of lemon. Turns out the taste is not to bad at all. The best part? How good you feel after you've had a cup or two. I have some extremely sensitive skin and my face burns and itches on a regular basis. I have nerve & muscle swelling, hurting all the time. I've used the tea for many physical situations. And, two weeks ago I decided to try the tea for a sinus flair up that had been going on for weeks, with terrible headaches. I was totally amazed at the results! My head, jaw, cheeks and eyes were so relieved, absolutely incredible. I know this post is a bit long, but my hope someone out there who has been suffering from one thing or another try this tea, I bet you will be passing on the onion tea solution to all your friends. And by all means, feel free to talk to your doctor first, or whatever medical professional you see and talk with them about the onion skin tea. Thanks for listening, and be blessed with good health!!!
You buy the lemon you use the lemon, always zest the lemon before you squeeze it, you can freeze it.
Absolutely!👩🍳
Excellent tip!
Just use Dawn spray on an air fryer. It literally melts debris off. And use a damp cloth with Dawn on it. Won’t waste parchment on pans. Cooking potatoes in plastic isn’t good. Lots of chemicals. You can get the same steaming effect by putting them in a covered glass bowl.
Another useful hack, I take all my vegetable peels like potato skin, garlic skin, carrot ends, onion skins, cilantro ends and everything else vegetable and I store it in the freezer. When I need vegetable broth I boil the veggy scraps until aromatic flavors are filling the kitchen, add some salt and bam you have flavorful broth!! Strain out the broth.
Turning waste into gold with homemade vegetable broth. 🍲✨
Very useful tips🥕My favourite ones are easy peeling garlic using microwave. ( I love garlic but don't love the smell on my hands) 🥕Also the air fryer clean up using baking soda, vinegar, dish soap, water.
Celery tip: Wrap in kitchen foil. Vastly extends its freshness in the fridge.
Lemon tip: Microwave for 10 seconds before squeezing. Even more juice.
I use the old fashioned cone type of juicer. All of the juice and the pulp is released.
@@kellyname5733 Yep, I do too - maybe using the old fashioned juicer is not longer ....'fashionable' 😂😂
@@kellyname5733, this was a MacGyver alternative 😂😂
Always enjoy watching your tips, they are interesting & very useful. Whenever I see one, I can never pass by without watching the whole video.
Happy viewing and happy cooking! 🍳
Some really fantastic ideas!! Thank you so much 😍👍👏👏👏
Here's to kitchen creativity and many more tips to come! 😍👍👏👏👏
5:26 this works for fruit and veg as well. Just change the paper when it feels a bit damp (don’t throw away let it dry and use for wiping up). Stuff keeps much much longer.
+ yes this is a workable lifehack, thank you!
I totally do that as well.
One of my favorite hacks is to use a pastry blender when mixing ingredients for meatloaf instead of your hands. Works perfectly!
Double the love for the pastry blender meatloaf hack!
Also great for chopping up hard boiled eggs. I do this when I'm making deviled eggs, to chop the yolks or chopping the whole egg for egg salad.
Hands for me easier and less clean up.
Tastes better with real love from the hands..
wow. never thought of that. lol i never use mine and hate to toss it. lol oh wait, it could work for cutting pasta too? Thanks for the nudge. lol
More incredible tips. I' going to do three of them today! I have a good salami chips recipe you might want to try. Thinly slice8 ounces of salami. Preheat oven to 375 f, line two 15" x 10" x 1" baking pans with parchment paper and set 2 oven racks at the center-most positions. Lay the salami slices out in a single layer in the baking pans and bake for 7 - 12 minutes [depending on thickness] until they are evenly browned and rigid. Transfer to paper towels to drain and cool -- the salami will crisp further as it cools. Arrange the salami chips in a bowl or on a plate and serve with a mustard dip made with equal parts of sour cream, mayonnaise and Dijon mustard; I made it with 1/4 cup of each.
Your salami chips recipe sounds absolutely delicious! 😋
I'm trying your salami recipe today. Thank you.
Won’t the plastic bag melt in the microwave?
“Oh my gosh!” You are absolutely amazing! 🏆🥇Thanks for sharing!!😊❤
Happy cooking and experimenting in the kitchen! 🍳👨🍳❤️🌟
with arthritis I especially like the garlic smash!
Here's to easy, flavorful cooking without the joint strain. 💪🧄
I wouldn't think there was much flavor in onion and garlic paper skins, but then again, I've never tried eating them. Worthy of a try.
They're like the stealthy flavor boosters of the kitchen!
Worth watching just for the brilliant microwaved garlic peeling hack!
It's amazing how a little heat can make kitchen tasks easier.😊
Love that final hack using garlic and onion skin! Must try that, thank you!
The hack using garlic and onion skin is a clever way to add flavor and reduce food waste!
I love garlic in recipes, but I hate all the work required to end up with minced garlic. I wouldn't have believed your two methods for peeling and mincing garlic if I had not seen them. And I am definitely going to try the easy skins method for creating a garnish for potatoes. I'm glad this somehow got recommended to me. Happy New Year!
Hooray for garlic hacks making life smell a little better!
just get a garlic press
Yeah, I don't bother with many single-purpose kitchen items, but a garlic press is worth it.
I personally recommend the pampered chef one, its design is the overall best I've encountered. With that one, I don't even need to get the annoying skin off (it doesn't get pressed through with the garlic due to some form of physics magic, yay) and it comes with tools for easy cleaning. Always rinse & get garlic bits out of the press before they can dry on, but even with that step it turns the entire task into a super simple and quick one
love this site.......... but cooking in plastic is not good.
Eating the stuff that is cooked in the plastic ain't good! We aren't designed to eat Carbs, not even Vegetables, that's just toxins, phytic acids, oxalates, and a ton of other poisons to the body, sadly, cause they taste good, but they just break down the body, leaving you with some condition / disease 😢And don't worry about the Vitamins, as they fight for the same spot as Sugar, and Sugar wins, which is ironically why people need more Vitamins, you do not need that if you avoid the problem all together 🙂
Not seen the seasoning hack with the onion and garlic skins before, we will give it a try. Normally we save the skins and add them to stocks for flavour and the onion skins for a natural amber colour. Thanks for the video. take care, God bless one and all.
Happy experimenting in the kitchen, and take care. 🌿🍲🙏
WOW! The garlic cloves being smashed between parchment paper is a GREAT hack!! Thanks!
Happy cooking with your newfound garlic hack! 🧄
I really love the idea of taking onion and garlic skins and making a great savoury flavouring for potatoes or whatever 👍
Amazes me that the plastic bag didn't melt in the microwave! Great ideas thank you 😊
i do this all of time. never had a plastic bag melt but be careful opening or you can get a steam burn.
@@suechaidez7161 i think i will use rubber gloves just in case!
Wow, I particularly loved cooking the egg in parchment and the potatoes in the microwave...but then again, I just love ALL of the hacks you show! Great stuff!! Thank you!
Fantastic info. Thanx a bunch.

Nice hair cut! Garlic hacks were great. Will put to work those onion/garlic peels I've been saving. Tx! P.S.: added some salt to the blended mix.

Also using the paper towels at the bottom of the celery will help keep it dry. When making a salad, I put paper towels at the bottom of the dish (before adding wet ingredients) and to keep the lettuce dry and stay crisp.
Paper towels work so well for keeping vegetables dry and they don't go bad so quick.
My fridge dries out food, so I put a moistened paper towels on top of lettuce or broccoli etc and it stays fresh for weeks
That's a fantastic tip! 👩🍳
I use cheese cloths or thin towels to wrap my beets when storin them in containers in the fridge.
I store my head of unwrapped lettuce in a bowl with paper towels in the bottom to absorb moisture (lid on bowl, of course).
You have got to be thick as custard to boil water in an air fryer. You should not attempt to boil water in an air fryer, as this can cause splashes of water and droplets to get into the electric parts, such as the heating element, creating a short circuit and permanently damaging your device and even creating a dangerous fire hazard.
Boiling water in an air fryer is like teaching a fish to ride a bicycle - it's just not their thing🔥
Hi Anaderol, must take glass jar out of freezer night before. Glass is a natural product and for safety reasons I would rather play it safe and allow defrosting to take place naturally. Plan meals and know what you wld like to eat the following day.
Absolutely, safety first!

Rather than freeze food in a plastic container use an empty jam jar BUT NEVER fill jar to the top ALWAYS leave about one and a half inches below the lid since liquids in food expand in the freezing process.
And don't put the lid till after they freeze mom made a lot of stew and soups ,we would go back the mountains it would keep good a couple weeks packed a lot of meat loaf and smoked fish freezing the kills all the bad stuff 😊😊😊
Excellent tip! 👍
😊
@@artcook1976No, freezing food *does not* “kill all the bad stuff.” From the USDA website: “Freezing to 0 °F inactivates any microbes - bacteria, yeasts and molds - present in food. Once thawed, however, these microbes *can again become active,* multiplying under the right conditions to *levels that can lead to foodborne illness.”*
Like the idea but when you want to use the frozen food e.g. soup - how do you defrost? Can you microwave or is it necessary to wait for the liquid to melt at room temperature?
Iam hooked love your tips.
Happy cooking, and enjoy trying out all those new tricks!

I use paper towels to store my salad. I’ve been doing it since the 80’s. I put 2 layers of paper towels on top of the salad, then I put plastic or a lid on my bowl then store it upside down in the fridge. Lasts a week.
Microwaving potatoes to use as Cottage Potatoes for Breakfast is Amazing. You can even refrigerate them for future use.

If you have a vacuum sealer, seal up your cheese. I put cheese in reusable resealable bags. I’ve kept cheese in my refrigerator for 18 months and it’s still good, as long as it’s vacuumed sealed after each use.
This is the best one yet!

You can use your microwave as a steamer for virtually any vegetable. I love Brussels sprouts. I pop them in a large plastic bowl and add just 3 tablespoons of water, loosely cover and cook for 10 minutes. I also make my own cheese sauce to accompany them. I use Waitrose Pea Flavoured cup soup and add a minimum amount of boiling water to maintain a thick consistency and then add grated cheese. My variation on cauliflower cheese, I suppose.
That is how microwaves work. They steam the food from your item to cook.
Brilliant! many thanks
Happy cooking and have a fantastic day! 🌟😊🍽️
