I love the pace of your speaking. A genius. Very authentic. Thanks.
My late husband, who was Canadian, used to crack apples like that.
Seeing you do it brought me fond memories since I’ve never seen anyone else do it.
Thank you.
Students at the high school from which I recently retired used to split apples in a sort-of-similar manner, but they twisted the apple in opposite directions. It intrigued me because they used large apples fresh from the orchard; my hands aren't large enough to do the same, so they laughed at me 😀I'll have to try some more (smaller?) now that they're not here to watch!
Have never seen an Apple opened that way before. I imagine it takes a lot of strength?
Prbly over 20 years ago on the German late show "Wetten, dass..?" there was a guy who said he could split like 100 apples in 5 mins or something using one hand.
He didn't quite make it but he got thru a lot of apples that way 😆
It’s bittersweet
The egg carton meatballs, the garlic press for spreadable butter, no-mess sieve and all the others, you are a genius in the kitchen and you make my cooking life so much easier, thank you!!!
Shouldn't have food contacting aluminum though
@ theknowall2232 You make zero sense
this guy is a creative dude! So many good ideas from common kitchen objects. I wish I'd known about the ice cube hack on our last vacation when the airbnb was a bit deficient on ice trays! thanks for all the great ideas presented presented in a charming and straightforward way.
Great Kitchen Shortcuts!
Just be careful to not use a raw egg to give the shape. The outside of raw eggs can still have salmonella. And the freezer although it stops them from reproducing, it doesn't kill them

Your hack of using a potato masher to chop up hard boiled eggs is a brilliant idea. Doing that with a fork takes ages, and it's still too lumpy. Will definitely be trying that, thanks 👍.
❤😇
Using a potato masher MASHES the egg. The white part is near to mush. This would only be good for an egg spread.
If you're aiming for a classic egg salad sandwich, you'd be better off using a butter knife. First slice it, length & width, then chop it. If you have large chunks, it's likely you forget to slice it both directions, before chopping.
My potato ricer has three interchangeable discs. I use the one with the largest holes, and it actually works very well with eggs.
It's less messy and less waste if you chop the eggs in the egg slicer!
The paper towel in the drawer - GAME CHANGER!
My first time here and WOW did I learn some useful things, I am 58, never say you an't teach an old dog new tricks you did. 😀 Thank you.

I remember my Dad cracking the apples like that! I was about 9 and thought he was magically strong! (He was indeed, in heart, mind and body!)
Cherish those memories and the strength and love your dad brought into your life.❤🙌
@@WebspoonWorld Aye, good words. I'm a new fan- I particularly liked the meatball trick and way to sprout my own seeds. Awesome tips- thank you
THAT was awesome, huh?! my hand are too weak to even THINK to try that one! ha ha ha

Some great hacks here...thank you!! The egg in boiling water is a poached egg not a fried egg. 🙂
You are absolutely right! Use these tips in your kitchen!
so whats your problem?
I believe the term is "basted". I get about two orders per year at my restaurant on average... Fried in water and steamed with a dome. I make eggs benedict far more often, so I poach quite a bit. No snark, just passing on some kitchen stuff. :)
Thank you for these sensible, easy and cheap tips. They are wise for ordinary people ,as myself, to use and get by with, (and enhance the presentation of what we cook.) I appreciate your simple and concise presentation
I really appreciate how calmly each technique is executed. Shows that rush make it more difficult to follow what is being taught.
Liked all the egg tricks but I feel like the toilet paper was wasteful you can sprout seeds on a small paper towel in a jar misted With water just keep the paper towel moist no waste with the t paper it can be used elsewhere if you know what I mean😅
@@debig8500 Do you mean an entire paper towel though? Aren't toilet rolls cheaper? Maybe you mean just a sheet or a few sheets of paper towel.

@@Endelite- I understood “a paper towel” to mean one sheet and not a whole roll.
Yes thank you for saying that. I need slow as my brain works better that way!
I use an electric chopper for my hard boiled eggs when making egg salad. If you have arthritis, it is much easier on the hands and wrists that a potato ricer. I chop the olives right in with them.
Opening jar lids I know those. Great ideas for ice! Great way to sift flour! Thank you! Great way to make meatballs! Fantastic! All perfect! Thank you so much! Love how you split the apple in half!
We are very pleased to hear that the ideas and tips in the video were helpful. ❤
Thank you for all these awesome tips❣️ something for you... instead of mustard in your egg salad, use plenty of Mayo, and then add a few pinches of curry powder, and some chopped celery or green onion💕
WOW - How Clever!! I Loved: 1. the poached egg idea, 2. OMG lining the egg carton with foil & using instead of a baking dish AND 3. plastic lining for ice-cube tray!! 4. What a delicious but simple pastry dish!! 5. Coffee ice cubes for my cold coffee with milk. 6.Sifting without spilling out & wasting. 7. Aw MAN the Paper towel in the drawer idea!! 8. Meat ball measurer - I'm gonna try it for making Indian Chapatis, too!! 9. Using the 1/2 toilet paper roll for germinating seedlings. 10. Hard boil eggs mashing for sandwiches. 11. Potato pealing now a synch. And last but not least Brilliant idea 12. Fried eggs do NOT have to be oily!! I'm a Tough Critic, and not impressed easily, plus I debunk a lot of junk on the web, but your video was not only impressive - I was WOWed - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! You've got what it takes, to make it in this business & DESERVE to do well. Shine ON!!✌
The "last but not least" is not a fried egg. It is a poached egg.
@@brendadonaldson7592 Good attention to detail & quite right!!👍
Love the poached egg hack; one of my favourite ways to enjoy eggs. Good to see the secret for cracking an apple in half being shared. My Tati, who was from Europe, showed my siblings and me that when we were kids. The hacks and tricks you share bring more fun into the kitchen. 🙂
@@-OhThatGuyAgain- Sometime ago I saw a Gordon Ramsay video where he suggests adding a tablespoon of water to the oil in the pan....just using water is interesting as it will result in poached rather than fried eggs.
I learned the apple trick when I was a child, over 50 years ago!
I taught my late dad to poach eggs like you did, but with a splash of vinegar added to the water. He was so proud that he could do it himself!
I like chunkier egg mayo, so if I'm making a lot, I'll use the pastry cutter, otherwise two sharp knives do the job.
I've used a spoon handle many a time to release a jar lid, but sometimes I gently pour hot water over the lid and it expands enough to open it.
I do like watching your tips in the kitchen! Thank you.

Thanks again for these great hacks. I have been squeezing my jar lids since seeing you do it on one of your other videos. The toilet paper hack for the seeds is amazing . Can't wait to try that one. Oh and frying an egg in water is another one I am going to try and then when the water has cooled I can use it to water my tomato plants.

You are the most observant person. It's delightful how you understand how physical objects can be manipulated and the effects of heat and cold on them. I can't express what I want to say, but I have seen few people demonstrate such cleverness. Thank you so much for your videos! I have seen someone divide an apple that way when I was a child but my hands were never that strong! It is amazing when someone does it.
Unlike others Your hacks really work!!! Thank you thank you thank you for sharing !!!
We're very pleased to hear that you found the tips in the video helpful and that they really work for you. Happy cooking! 😊
Thank you so much for the 3 ways to open a sealed glass jar. I have so much trouble and as I get older, the problem gets worse. That sieve trick is awesome. And you have changed my life with the fried egg in the water trick. Frying and then trying to flip eggs has always been a problem for me. Now I'm going to make them perfectly all the time.
Enjoy making perfectly fried eggs every time! 👍😊
Pierce the lid of the and it makes it easier, also there are many gripping tools to assist
Poached egg, not a fried egg. 😉
There's another jar one that you don't have to use pressure to open it. You take a butter knife hold the handle with the back side of the knife facing the lid. Then tap along the edge of the lid three or for spots around the lid then u will have a lid that was stuck tight open easy. Especially if it's never been popped open yet and still has the suction.(button on top of jar still indented inward instead off outward )
@@JLC48that was my thought too. I make poached eggs using exactly that method.
Love your great hacks. Especially this one I just watched. The poached eggs all in one go and the the strawberry puff pastry, ricing the boiled eggs and cutting into the potatoes before boiling. THANKS SO MUCH!

Haha have you seen the price of kitchen rolls that is so not worth it🥴
Please, do tell me the name of YOUR channel where you share all your brilliant ideas . .
Great tips! I've seen the apple trick before. I could squeeze one for a week and it would never break! I knew about peeling the potatoes and breaking the seal on a jar to open it. I don't eat eggs, so those tips are lost on me, but great for others. You can do more with an egg carton than anyone I ever seen before. Amazing! Welcome back and thank you! 💕💕💕
Thank you for watching and your warm welcome.💕💕💕
Agree! But there’s only so many times you can use egg cartons. And all those other zillion things were supposed to upcycle. 🤷♀️
@@mangot589 If you like that, you could get one that's made of plastic! I have at least one of them. 💕💕💕

Holy cow! So simple but so smart. Can't wait to try making the Poached eggs. Thanks for the tips.
Be sure to do it!❤
OmG! These hacks are the bomb! My jaw dropped when you used the egg carton to portion out the meatballs. Such awesome ideas. Tyfs. 😘🇺🇸
The egg carton trick is definitely a game-changer for portioning out meatballs!!!
Lol and using a spoon would also work for getting them the same size. And honestly probably wouldn't take any longer than setting up the plastic on the egg carton unless your feeding an army. You still have to roll them anyway sooo.....
Use a cookie scoop. I make a large amount of meatloaf mix. About half goes into a muffin or mini loaf pan to bake for dinner. Add sausage to the remaining half for meatballs
I've never seen an apple split in half like that, very cool!! I've grated hard boiled eggs for a long time rather than chopping them all up...I use a half inch wide rubber band that comes on produce to open jars. I just stretch the band over the lid and turn...Voila! Works every time and works on other stubborn to turn lids and caps such as those on salad dressing bottles....
It's always helpful to find creative solutions for stubborn lids and caps.
It's not just the love of cooking and good food, I love listening to your accent. Your English is very pleasant to the ear.
The ice cube and meatball hacks are brilliant!! I will try the poached egg hack as I have a round silicone mold that I have used for melt-and-pour soap in the past, but I'll bet if I wash it good, I can poach eggs in it. I will watch this over and over! Thank you for this awesome video!!
Your our new Kitchen Hero! Thank you
I always enjoy your videos. You are truly a culinary genius.
I especially loved the tips for poached eggs and the meatballs; they were real time savers! Thank you! Well done!☺
When you wet the toilet paper and put it in a bag, I thought for sure you were going to grow mushrooms.
They sell mushroom making kits. And toilet paper and plastic bags are part of it.
You can grow quite a few varieties of them, too.
I love Trumpet mushrooms. 😋
My hack for opening a jar is to use an old fashioned bottle opener, the kind you would use to open a bottle of beer or soda back in the day. Put the pointed end under the lip of the bottle and using gentle pressure, especially if you are opening a glass jar, pull the lid way from the bottle. You should hear the same click when it opens as in the video. If that doesn't work sometimes simply running a bit of hot water around the lid expands it enough that you can get the jar open.
Thank you for sharing these helpful suggestions!
So do i!
I always use the hot water. If there's none boiling, I usually get them open with a rubber glove.
I do the same.
@christinatakacs6791 - I would hit the bottom of the jar/bottle in the center with the heel of my had a couple times till you hear it pop. Or tap the whole thing upside down on the counter a couple times. If that didn't work (usually did) hitting the side of the lid with the handle end of a table knife in the direction to unscrew it did the trick.
Always enjoyable to watch your videos ! Problem is trying to remember all these great ideas ! Great job!
Keep up the good work and happy cooking!

Thank you so much!
If you like the peels it's best to buy organic potatoes because pesticides tend to concentrate in the skin. (same for other root veg)
Terrific ideas. For sure going to try: potato ricer to mash eggs for sandwiches, egg carton using plastic wrap and foil.
Have a great cooking day!😇👍

Can’t wait to try the coffee ice cubes in milk...a summer treat for sure! The potatoes, the eggs, the meatballs! All great ideas. Don’t have a professional potato masher, so I use my pastry cutter for hard cooked eggs, tuna, and chicken shredding. Also, I use my nut cracker for smaller lids and bottle caps! Blessings!🌹
It's great to see how creative and inventive you are in the kitchen! 🌟🍽️🙏
An easy at-work lunch for me is to put shelled boiled eggs, mayonnaise, mustard, salt, and pepper in a zip-top bag, squeeze it with my fingers, fold down the top, and squeeze out the egg salad on bread or greens 😊
That was a kind compliment. Thank you. I come from a line of cooks who had to make do with what they had, both in the old country and upon their arrival in the US. I’m inspired by your special creativity in introducing things I’ve never thought of. There is still so much to learn from you youngsters! 💙
You could also use a cheese grater for the butter or the eggs
Or for frozen butter or frozen or hard cheese I also use a potato peeler .

I subscribed now, you saved me with your tricks, the best one for me is with the meat balls, I will try this, and how to make the egg only in water and not with any fat in the frying pan! this is great!
Beautiful, thank you. How resourceful and down-to-earth. These things are usually never taught, but you pick them up watching your parents in the kitchen or otherwise doing the home-jobs. Here's such a rich and encompassing set...
I thing you could come with "1001 usages for eggs carton" and stuff like that. Only it would overwhelm watchers/readers. These videos are perfect. Thanks!
2 things I'll pick from this one -- 1. poaching eggs in water in the frying pan (I'm on a diet, and this could save me a nice bunch of calories). 2. the coffee ice-cubes (well, I do have silicon ice trays, but this looks wonderful for guests - 2-3 cubes in a glass of milk should make them very happy).
Of course all the rest is great, and I'll probably use the sifting trick too - but the first two things I'll use right away.
It's true that many of these practical tips and tricks are often acquired through observation or passed down from generation to generation. ❤❤

really nice hacks again! Thank you! I also use as an breakfast dip eggs, mayonaise, tomato ketchup (or curry ketchup) salt and pepper. Also really nice, and you can also use carrot rasp and Maggi aromat to put with the eggs, is also very nice. As a dip for Lays potato chips also mayonaise and a bit of bouillon powder is a very good dip! I make it more fluid with a few drops of water.. A salad I make from leak, very thin sliced and some sliced ham, and also added some mayonaise salt and pepper.. really nice on toast. My favorite dressing however is mayonaise, tomato ketchup, salt and pepper, and a little bit of full cream and a few drops of worchestershire sauce , that dressing is also nice for surimi, crab or salmon, but I use it for several salads. For making very good saté, I put meat (chicken, shoulder chops or tenderloin) in a mix of soy sauce, djahé, salt, sambal oelek, garlic, pepper and salt, and a little bit of trassi, and leave it for a few hours. I make the saté sauce, with ordinary cheap peanutbutter, a dash of milk, stir until resolved, and add the marinade from the flesh into it. if necessary add a little bit of water or soy sauce to make it more smooth, grill the meat and add the sauce.. delicious..
Your combination of eggs, mayonnaise, tomato ketchup (or curry ketchup), salt, and pepper sounds like a tasty and versatile dip.
Loved all your kitchen hacks especially the ice cube method. How I open jars that are on to tight I turn jar on its side and use the bottom of my hand to give it a couple good hits and it make it loosen up for me to open. Thanks for all your great tips👍
