- Hi Guys, today I’m reviewing the Cuisinart 12-Cup Coffee Maker. LINK TO Cuisinart 12-cup Coffeemaker: amzn.to/1w7DTFj It measures 14 inches tall by 8 inches wide. It is a tall machine so make sure you check if it’ll fit under your kitchen cabinets.
It’s a sleek design and the brushed chrome finish looks good in your kitchen. It also comes is a few colors like metallic pink, red and black. The unit comes with a charcoal water filter that goes into it’s holder, gold tone coffee filter and filter basket, measuring scoop, some paper filters and the instruction booklet.
The glass carafe holds 12 cups and has a nice sturdy handle. The lid is not a flip up which I find a bit inconvenient. The heating plate is adjustable and you can set it to low, medium or high using this button. That’s a neat feature that I haven’t come across in a lot of coffee makers. It has a black non-stick coating and is scratch resistant. All the parts that come into contact with water or coffee are BPA free. For water, there is a stair step cup measure inside the tank and it’s clearly marked. It’s programmable so you can set the time you want coffee to brew. There’s a LCD Digital Clock. There’s also a 1-4 cup button that you press when you’re making less than 5 cups of coffee. This makes sure your smaller cup of coffee is just as hot as when you make more than 5 cups. There is also an auto shut off feature. You can set the machine to turn off 0 to 4 hours after brewing has finished. The flip switch is the on/off and it’s very retro. It feels like a very solid machine.
Before brewing your first cup of coffee, fill the reservoir with cold water and run it to flush out the coffee maker. Don’t add any coffee. Let’s brew 4 cups of coffee. I won’t be using the charcoal filter because I’m using filtered water. Fill the reservoir with water, this area is a little narrow and not the most convenient way to fill up. The carafe has cup measurements. Always put a little extra water because some water may be lost as steam. See the water level in the reservoir. I’m using 4 scoops of ground coffee. The maximum amount of coffee that can be put in the filter is 15 tablespoons. There is a showerhead effect so water is evenly distributed over the coffee grounds. If you need that cup of coffee before the pot is finished brewing, pull it out with no dripping for up to 30 seconds. The coffee will be stronger than the rest of the pot. When the coffee is finished brewing, you’ll hear five beeps. I do like hearing the beeps because then I know my coffee is done. Wait a few seconds after the beeping to pull out the coffee pot because coffee may still be dripping into the pot. It took 5 minutes to brew 4 cups of coffee.
I’ll take a sip. The coffee has good full flavor and is hot. Cleaning is simple. The filter basket, filter, pot and lid can go on the top rack of your dishwasher or hand washed with warm soapy water. There is a self cleaning feature. The flashing Clean light tells you when it’s time to clean the coffee maker by pouring a vinegar/water solution in the tank. Remember to remove the charcoal filter before cleaning the machine.
Overall, the Cuisinart is a solid coffee maker. It looks great and brews a good cup of coffee. For the design and features that it offers, it’s also reasonably priced. I hope you found this review useful. Please subscribe for more reviews and as always, thanks for watching!

I love it. It doesn’t take much space.
Keep in mind, that a full 2 cups of water could still be in the filter after the machine stops brewing because of how it brews. But the coffee tastes really good. It really displaces the coffee grounds, so don’t overfill.

We bought one of these makers 8-9 months ago and like it very much. It was a replacement for our old Breville that stopped working after several years. We use paper filters so we don't have to clean the included metal filter.

I GOT MINE ALMOST FREE in a ThriftShop for $3.00!! I have never been more thrilled!! it needed a bit of cleaning up,...had coffee grinds everywhere, and hardwater build up. Since I have cleaning agents to shine this up to spanking brand new looking ...alls I had to do was to buy a Caraffe, and the Gold tone wire filter...which happily I am finally getting from Amazon after a year and a half of figuring out how it all works so well. BTW, I only use filtered water in my coffee machines, because it saves the machine alot of drama!! This is a wonderful design and maker!!

I've watched my share of "how to" videos and I have to compliment you on the quality and the specificity AND the use of your visuals to make this near "idiot proof" (but we know there is no such thing in this world anymore.) The ONLY constructive criticism would be to mention how you need to hit the "clean" button before the power. I didn't have a book with the used one I picked up but I figured it out. Thanks for the great video, keep them coming.

I’m at work rn and needed help making coffee
I highly recommend this coffee maker, i only buy high end coffee mostly Starbucks so this is the only way to go for anyone who loves coffee as much as i do to get the best brew possible.
I've owned the less expensive makers but after using the Cusinart im spoiled.

How many scoops of coffee do you put in?
I used to love this coffee maker. Mine will no longer brew the entire pot of coffee (I usually brew 4 or 5 cups and am lucky if I have enough coffee brewed for 1 cup). I have to turn it off and then flip the switch back on for the pot to continue to brew. And the coffee doesn't stay hot. I have the setting on high for the temperature and have been very careful when wiping the bottom out so that it doesn't get scratched or damaged. This was not an inexpensive coffee maker and I've only had it for 2 years. I've been careful in every aspect of caring for this coffee maker as it's the most expensive one I've ever purchased. It's the first Cuisinart product I've not been happy with ...

I've had three of these and might suggest a few things. If it stops brewing and you have been changing your filter regularly. (It says 60 days but come on - 6 months will do for daily use)., and it still won't brew, then it is probably time to get a new one. Sell at a garage sale.
Cuisinart if you are listening, please put a backlight behind the water reservoir so one can see the water level as you fill it. The stair step is a great idea, but not all of us remeasure the water before we pour, can't see the level very well. Thanks!

didn't appear to have brewed 4 cups but a few ounces less. This is caused by water absorption by the filter and grounds
As the lid on the carafe of this coffeemaker doesn't have a flip top, what is the correct way to take the top off? I don't want to break it.

I have a question for you. We've had our Cuisinart coffee maker for about 3 years. This morning, as we do every morning, we went to make a pot of coffee, flipped the switch to "on" and nothing happened. The red light came on but no brewing occurred. Any ideas of what the problem may be and how we can fix this ? Thank you !
Dave Gregory Hi Dave, it could be a few things. Have you tried cleaning the unit with vinegar and water? Remove the charcoal filter before cleaning and then brew coffee without the filter. Most likely, the problem is the black filter basket that holds the gold tone filter. Look under the black basket and there is a part that goes up and down to let the water flow through. This part may not be functioning properly so water is not able to flow through to the pot. Contact Cuisinart customer service and they should be able to help you get a replacement part if necessary. bestkitchenreviews Ok, I did what you said. I removed the charcoal filter, filled the reservoir with 1/3 white vinegar and 2/3 water. Pressed the self clean button and the red light went on. I then turned the coffeemaker on by flipping the switch "up" to the "on" position and that red light came on. After that I got nothing. No sounds ,no brewing, nothing. I'm figuring it has to be something internally which probably means that the coffeemaker is shot. What do you think ?
Dave Gregory Did you see if the part on the bottom of the black basket goes up and down. If that's not it, contact Cuisinart and they should help you. There is a limited 3 year warranty but the coffeemaker should not stop working after 3 years.
bestkitchenreviews Yes. I took the black basket out, filled it with water then pressed the bottom part that has the spring on it and the water went through it just fine.

OK I'm having a hell of a problem with this model. I think it is fairly old (older than the 3 yr warrenty). All of a sudden it stops working. The element works. It pumps steam but it doesn't brew. The charcoal filter is removed has been for years so well forget about that. I have soaked it in vinegar and brewed it in vinegar several times. I have cleaned it thoroughly as well as taking apart the plastic lid and the steam arm. Still it is not fixed. So I suspect the ball valve under the element is plugged. I'm going to take it apart after it cools down and see if that works.

I have the red one. Does it need the gold filter for it to work? I bought it used and it doesn't come with it. Water drains into the next department but not into the coffee pot
+Kristine Langone Hi Kristine, it works with the permanent filter or a paper filter. Try a paper filter and see if that fixes the issue.

The gold tone is for a better taste, if you go for the paper filter get the unbleached (brown filters) who knows what chemical is used to make the white filters.
At approximately 2:20 you stated you put in 4 cups of ground coffee? That can't be right. I have this maker and can't seem to get the coffee/water ratio right
Yeah I think that's by mistake, other videos suggest ONE tablespoon per cup of coffee, so maybe she meant tablespoon!
I HAVE A 12 CUP RED Cuisanart Coffee maker that the display lights do not work. I find this a lot on them cause I usually buy used but surely their is a way to fix this change the bulb Pleas help

Do you have any idea how to shut the beeping off? Both after a pot is brewed and after the 2 hour heating time? We have a new puppy and it is waking him up. THANKS!
You can't turn it off
I picked up a newer one, used and you cannot turn off the beep. So discouraging. I watched hours of RUclipss to figure out how to get to the insides of the unit to take out the beeper. It is about the size of a dime. You need lots of patience to do this and you risk breaking it but now I love my coffee maker.
So why was the charcoal filter taken out?....I thought that's supposed to keep the water clean...its optional when brewing coffee??

If the carafe lid does not flip up, how the hell am I supposed to fill it with the amount of water I want to pour in the reservoir? How am I supposed to clean it? Why does every "nice" coffee maker I look into lack basic freaking features that cheap $20 coffee makers still have?!

Have the same coffeemaker, flip the on switch, no on light and no coffee. Cleaned it with vinegar water, still no help. Cleaned out every part of it, and it is clean. The light for the 1-4 button goes on, the auto-on goes on, but still no coffee. This piece if junk is about to fly into the middle of my yard. Waste of time trying to fix it. What a mess.
