  • If your water bill suddenly seems rather high, this could well be the culprit. The good news is, it is pretty easy to fix.

    Thank you so much! Normally my dad would be the one fixing things in the house. We lost him 2 yrs ago so we’ve been learning how to manage small repairs.

      @@GuacamoleyNacho I must be lucky to have a supportive dad.. He was the one who had patience and gave encouragement when I would assemble or tinker with small things, while my mom would scold me and do the thing herself, because it was faster and more efficient. Reason why I wasn’t able to learn much with her 😅
      Thank you, it’s good to know that we are capable of doing so much more. It’s good that almost everything can be learned in the internet. Saves a lot of money too.

      @@Tinnevelly The way your Mum was or is, is the way both my parents are, but my dad is the worst for that. He has a warm heart though, but absolutely no patience to wait for others to do what he can do quickly/quicker. He takes over, but means well. x x

    Reversed the washer on my unit and it's working perfectly, thank you, the family is off my back now.
    I would have had to pull my toilet pan away from the wall to get to the bottom water connection to fit a new unit. Many pearls of wisdom mate.

    You just saved me a plumber bill! We replaced the filler valve but it really was the flush valve washer. I literally turned it over like u said and no more leaking water and constant refilling the tank. Thank you from the U.S.!

    Yet another person you've saved from shelling out for a simple fix! Flipped the washer over and it's made a massive difference. Almost can't believe how simple it was. It's an old toilet but this has probably squeezed more time out of it before it needs a proper fix. Thanks a million.

    Cheers, 8 years after you created this video, it has helped us solve a leaking cistern push button type which suddenly started flushing every couple of minutes, turns out it was blu loo toilet block sludge stopping the valve closing after a flush.     Thank you! Just done a temporary fix by turning it over and it stopped. Will be able to fully replace the seal once I get to the plumbing supplies. Learned something new today...thanks for sharing this.

    Thank you for posting this. It gave me the confidence to take a look and I fixed the leak. It had a faulty seal on the push button - I just took it off, checked for damage (couldn't see any), gave it a clean, and reversed it. No more leak. Saved some money, water, and time!

    Excellent video. I had a leaking WC, was very reluctant to call a plumber during this pandemic. I could fix the problem myself. There was a problem with the rubber washer. Just took it out washed thoroughly and fixed it after flipping the sides. To my pleasant surprise it fixed the problem. A big sigh of relief. Thanks again for posting the video

    Thank you for this video. Our toilet was leaking into the cistern, and after watching your video I found it was the seal at the bottom. Ours had limescale deposits on it but was otherwise in good order, so after a quick clean it's back in the toilet and working perfectly. Thank you.

    Thanks for the video out of all the videos that I have watched regarding this subject yours put me in the right direction, even though our flush systems are completely different they all work on the same principle and I knew that there must have been another seal at the bottom of that push button valve - I had a big job removing ours as it was pretty well jammed up. cheers

    Thanks for the video. I noticed my cistern dripping when I started using coloured toilet cleaner. It was visibly (slowly) washing away at the back. Flush washer/seal was the culprit! Easy fix thanks to your video - saved me pestering the landlord...!

      @@dereton33 im a bit worried tonight will be leaking again..
      i forgot to mention that while the water was coming out from the toilet seat ( from the top and not from the base) my shower plate was filled up with water too..., the fire brigates couldnt figure out why ....they even asked me wether i had poured it over myself...
      now the WC is totally dry and im afraid it'll be leaking again in the next hours..

      dereton33 Thanks for your video. Just as you showed, i removed the washer, turned it round and problem solved. However I have another question. Where the float is located that stops the water at the set level, is there a washer or seal, if so how can it be removed and replaced.
