    As a non game developer, I watched the whole thing and learned a lot!

      I'm so glad that it was informative! I tried to make sure it still gave other useful information, even if a person wasn't trying to get the game engine booted up.

    Sick! Been waiting for something like this.

    Its now on the store itself, so you can just install Godot 4 from the store :) That is why I am here, to figure out what I can do with it.

      I didn't notice this news dropped today this is awesome. I was actually waiting because I wanted to do more content on Godot on the headset but back when I was playing with it months and months ago it didn't support actually running a VR application on your quest that you created on your quest. It could run 2D apps but it couldn't find the hmd. I'm guessing now that it's on the full store they must have fixed it. I'm the one that put in one of the defects on this months ago on github. So I'm super stoked thank you for pointing this out

      @@bc_labs I did not even know it was coming, I just randomly noticed it begin recommended.
      I am not sure how well it works, but it works well enough that I could make it run and having tracked controllers. I downloaded a pack from the store or library or what its called that has Quest 3 controller models. I did not manage to get them aligned, I never used Godot before, so things are quite different from what I am used to in Unity. But once I had setup things the way you did in the video, it would work. That script is still needed. I tried to see if maybe I could just use a downloaded asset / script, but the one I found did not work. A button to enable XR asset.

      @@KasperSOlesen I was actually working on something with hand tracking back earlier on and I was having trouble getting the hands to aligned correctly. So I kind of put that on the shelf for now but I'd like to get back to that project at some point. I've never been able to publish something for VR and it's something I'd like to get into

      @@bc_labs in Unity the trick was to put another object in between the hand and the controller, so that you could change its rotation and such until it aligned. Something similar can probably be done in Godot.

      When I read this i thought you meant the Sidequest store.. but actually it's on Meta Store! Ok it's in app lab but wans't expecting something else since this is quite special.

    I guess the 3D preview is flat and not rendered for each eye?

      This was the case before. It is now possible to render the game in the HMD for VR native, from Godot on Quest

    but it still doesn't have C# compiler support nor does the developers promised this to be fixed in the long term...I can't even offload the C# build task to my build farm (which is the best compromise I would concede) to say the least. You can't just live off with GDScript (besides from simple scripts)

    • @bc_labs
      @bc_labs  10 месяцев назад +1

      GD script is quite powerful and still compiles down to C++, but you are right there are scales at which C# makes sense and Godot 4 is lacking here.

      The older version of the engine still uses Mono and can be installed on Quest instead through the same process.

      @@bc_labs Are you sure that GDScript can be nativized and compile down to C++?

    Hey man, how your screen capture quality is so good? How it is 4k? Please tell.

    • @bc_labs
      @bc_labs  10 месяцев назад

      It isn't 4k. I just render from 4k in my App (inshot) in case any of my footage includes phone capture or compositing, to avoid quality loss. The headset capture is capped at 1080p. Its not meant to be disingenuous, just to ensure I don't end up with degraded quality if I go to re-cut a video in the future (I can't back up Inshot projects permanently)

      Okay so you are recording screen in VR using its default record feature and then exporting it to your computer for editing. @@bc_labs

    • @bc_labs
      @bc_labs  10 месяцев назад

      @flipcoin5682 yes there are ways to capture with higher resolution if you connect your headset to the computer. But for most of my content it's a lot easier to do it Wireless so I haven't bothered with that.
      But it is something to consider. I actually do some editing on my PC and some of my phone depending.
