Great video, I’m certainly guilty of doing the same thing, following trends or trying to emulate someone else’s style. I’ve learned it’s better to be true to yourself and it’s ok to admire someone else’s style without trying to copy it. I really love your channel, and your style. I have a very minimal approach and definitely feel that less is more and simple is more elegant.
This may sound silly, but when you can wear anything and look great, especially if you're photogenic on top of that, it can be difficult to figure out what your style is & what you're comfortable in....because you can literally pull it all off.
I really enjoyed your in the 20’s phase, because I was like omg that was sooo me, with all the “print” outfits!! 😂😂 I’m 34 now and I have kids and I’m now barely trying to build a new wardrobe with keeping in mind all of your awesome advice in keeping neutrals and focusing on timeless pieces.. so thank you!
You are welcome! It's crazy how much our styles change as we get older or go through different phases in life. Neutrals and basics are definitely the most timeless and wearable over time though! - and yes hahaa I loveeeed prints ❤️
My first thought was your "extra phase" outfits were so cool but then your following more simple styles look so nice even though they are more simple. love it! im stuck in a spending phase now. hopefully it ends soon haha
Totally! I'm pretty sure I'm going through that phase at the moment while I work out what works for me! I think if I could I'd just wear sweat pants all day, but I think theres a balance in there somewhere. I'm 27 now and still trying to find my way, thankfully your videos are quite helpful so thank you for that :)
The fact that your outfits from 2016 still look somewhat "trendy" and stylish shows how classic and timeless minimalistic looks are. I love that! Not going along with the extra crazy trends will help me to not look back in 3 years and cringe at what I was wearing. I love your style!
I had a similar phase lol I had more "going out" clothes than everyday clothes. I was a shopaholic during my late teens ans early 20s. Thanks for sharing your story! ☺💝
Excellent content, as always Erin. Even though everyone goes though a style evolution, few people are brave enough to show it to the world. Thank you for sharing.
I fight with that all the time especially because I love color (not ALL colors) but I also like to be simple. So I always go back and forth and then i somehow fall into some other style that isn't my own because so many people make it look great! It's just exhausting putting effort into something that isn't me takes more energy than just being myself without thinking twice. I know this video is from a while back, but it helps to understand I am not the only one that doesn't have their style all together all the time. ❤ p.s. happy new year. I just subscribed to your channel and I rather enjoy our similar taste in style.
I'm so happy I stumbled across you! I am slowly in the process of investing in better quality, timeless pieces that I can mix and match forever, and agree that simple, minimalist style is just so beautiful. I'm a big fan of the "un-fussy," as I like to call it. :-) Looking forward to checking out more of your beautiful content, thank you for sharing your evolution!
Those last two “extra” outfits are actually really beautiful, especially the black with the plaid shirt! You’re beautiful so you can pull it off great! :) I love that you found your style though, being comfortable and confident with what you wear is what we all strive for! :)
Aw thank you! ❤️ It's not that I didn't like what I was putting together then, it's that I was trying way to hard to be someone I wasn't and that's why I cringe haha! Comfort is the key to confidence in my opinion!
Amazing transformation! Simple and minimal is my style too but at times I like trying out new things. And about being cautious of taking photos in the same outfits? I do that a lot😂😂 really a stupid mindset. Love you so much❤❤
I really enjoy watching videos like this! I feel like over-consumption is quite common for most of us at some point, but I'm happy with where I'm at with my style now. I'm a new subscriber btw, and I've gained a lot of inspiration from different style/fashion bloggers here on RUclips. It'd be nice to hear who or what you're inspired by when it comes to your style, Erin! Thanks for sharing :)
Thank you Amy! And I totally agree about the over-consumption, we all go through it and we all take some time to discover what we actually like! As for inspo, I sort of get inspired in a lot of different places whether its through pinterest or instagram, or just seeing people in the streets and how they style things. I also really love Meghan Markle's style, and Victoria Beckham
I love your "to much" stage :D but also your present minimalistic style, not the prints definitely. It seems like you almost want to cry, but thank you for sharing your style process
@@byerinelizabeth In a future please make a sincere video with suggestions for cold weather. I know a lot of people try to fake cool outfits when in reality they are freezing themselves out. I'm living in California but I'm moving north of the country where snows and I never experimented that before. I need to know what pieces I need to buy when cold weather comes. Thank you pretty girl.
Wow I loved the video! I've changed my style over the years but I still love some prints to spice up my style. Basics are great but some colorful statement clothes are good too. Great video as usual! I really enjoyed seeing all the pics!
This is a great video! Love the idea of it! I definitely need to do a clean out and go minimal. I always feel like this is the year I'll find my style but end up buying the most random things. And in the end I'm most comfortable in basic jeans and a tee.
You should try my 10 piece trick! ( I have a video where I did mine ), basically you go to your closet and you can only pick out 10 items. So just pretend that's it and that's all and someone is going to take the rest of your closet away. So pick out your 10 favourite pieces that you wear the most & it has to include bags and shoes too. This will give you a really good base as to what you're most comfortable in, the colours you like the most, and the styles you like the most. From there you can sort of plan out how to build off that! Personal style is ever changing and I think it's a slow process and evolution over time to figuring it out! ❤️
That was a really nice video, getting to know you better and how you arrived where you are today!i love your current style and you seem very comfortable in everything you wear so i do believe this is the style that suits you better☺i, too, have changed my style a couple of times..in highschool my style wasn't clearly definable and after that and until i was 23 i was dressing like i was 35,like i wanted to be older (i now feel it was a mistake)!i'm 28 now and for the past 3 years i'm trying to create a wardrobe that is more me and that includes good quality pieces that i can wear every year..also i think you are absolutely right there is no need to buy too many pieces (one of the reasons i love your videos and blog is you don't mind rewearing the same stuff, you make them work in different outfits and that is more realistic than continuous hauls of pieces no normal person has time to wear all)!this comment is huge so i stop here, thank you for the insipation and i love your style😍
Thank you! That makes me so happy to hear :) We are the same age! I definitely wasn't as conscious or invested in my wardrobe back then as I'm trying to be now. Definitely an ongoing process and I still have a little ways to go with my own wardrobe too :)
Same here,i was just buying random cute items, now i'm slowly creating a more timeless wardrobe and i incorporate trends in small doses, nothing too much!it's hard to invest when the budget is limited but i'll slowly get there☺i'm glad we are the same age, maybe that's why i find your choices so close to what i like☺
I see your point, because I was in the same condition as you were! I still try to solve some things in this field but I think that your video helped me a lot! You are an amazing blogger and youtuber 😍💓💓
I first didn't care about fashion at all when I was a teen, and then after being pressured into shopping for new clothing by my grandma I ended up going like "punk, but not like I care" style. After that when I was 17 I kind of rebelled against the colour black and wore nothing but contrasting colours all day every day - red tights with an emerald top etc. That kept on until I was 19 - then I started transitioning into a more casual, trendy style that I'm still working on shaking today (I'm 23). I've recently made the effort to not buy from stores at all - only thrift stores and ethical places for me. This keeps me from getting stuff I don't love :)
Your current style is totally amazing 😍 I am really trying to get closer to it whenever I go shopping 😼 Anyway,I believe that everyone has been trough that ‘extra phase’ during high school, but personally I wouldn’t have the guts to show some photos of those times... my love for prints was out of control xD
I loved this video so much ❤️❤️ But I have a suggestion for a next video. I have a pair of shoes very colourful with a lot of patterns (totally not "classy& timeless" but I love them) and I don't know how can I wear them (excepting a pair of black classic pants). So, you can make a video with some recommendations of outfits if you want. It will be useful ☺️
I really like your style now but those photos from your "Extra" years were "WOW, stylish". I paused the video to look at them for a few more seconds :)
To put that string back in your pants all you need is a safety pin put the safety pin on your string and work it through the waistband it makes it much easier
I was always faithful british vwave follower. I work un a border city, so 9/11 situation, put a joke in us. What I did learn after college, and working in HR back then, is to dress properly to your profesion. Well dress for a company, you are representing. And always roll my sleeves
Loved your video! Hi Erin I have a lot of good quality clothes that I no longer wear, I am also finally happy with my style, my issue is I live in America but have family and friends that live abroad who could benefit from my items, the shipping is expensive and they most likely will have to pay duties, I feel bad to donate them to strangers and I am trying to sell them but not getting what I find fair prices, what would you do, you are very mature, thanks
I often bring in my pieces to a consignment store! They usually give money back, less than what I paid for the item but it's nice to get something back! consignment

I agree! The right neutrals and basics will forever be stylish! ❤️
Congrats on your style transformation, Erin! You look so classy and chic now, it's impressive! WOW!
Aw thank you!
I had a similar phase lol I had more "going out" clothes than everyday clothes. I was a shopaholic during my late teens ans early 20s. Thanks for sharing your story! ☺💝
Going out clothes were always the most fun to buy! definitely not as practical for day to day life lol! ❤️
So real and relatable! Thank you for the honesty!
Of course! happy you liked it!
Boy you are so photogenic, then and now 😍
aw thank you! Such a nice compliment :)

Thanks Kimberley! I appreciate it! ❤️
I'm obsessed with your too much stage, it looked amazing on u. It was far from too much babe but I'm even more obsessed with 2016-now
haha thanks Lindsey! ❤️ I just cringe then because I was trying wayyy to hard to be someone I wasn't.

I think personal style is something that is always changing as we grow, it's just a big learning process of what we like & don't like 😊

What are big improvements❤️❤️ well done girl.
I love your style after 2016! I'm 22 and still trying to figure out my style tbh🙈 all the hair colour variations though :P
Sooo many hair colours haha! Style is definitely and ongoing process, it takes time to figure it out!
I see your point, because I was in the same condition as you were! I still try to solve some things in this field but I think that your video helped me a lot! You are an amazing blogger and youtuber 😍💓💓
❤️❤️
I love the minimal sense of your style😍.
Thank you!
very inspiring. I can totally relate to pretty much all stages you've been through!
❤️❤️
You’re style is so classy and gorgeous
Thank you ❤️❤️
You are such an inspiration!!!!
I have been through a lot of styles in my days! Im now 27 years old and feel like Im still searching for the perfect style for me.
It's definitely a never ending process! We're always changing and our style changes along with us ❤️

her makeup is perfect
Thanks Anna ❤️
Your current style is totally amazing 😍
I am really trying to get closer to it whenever I go shopping 😼

haha exactly, kinda fun going through old photos!
I LOVED seeing this. I can totally relate. ❤️❤️
thank you!
I def went through that extra stage! I wonder if we would like back to today and think we looked so bland and simple haha
omg definitely haha! I always think that, like what will people 10 years from now think of the styles today haha! ❤️
😂😂😂 couldn't imagine u in all out prints and being "extra" haha glad u found ur style in 2016 and more importantly, i love ur style now!💕
hahah I know right!? ❤️
i had the same mindset about clothes! never wanted to wear outfits ive been photographed in
Glad I'm not the only one lol ❤️❤️
adored this video! so relatable
Thanks Krystal!

At least you looked GREAT all those years you cringe over. My style is very much like yours now as well!
Aw thank you!
Lovin the vids❤️ Keep it up, great work!👍 You got a new watcher 😍, I make similar stuff, if you could come check it out that'd be awesome👌
Always enjoy your videos. What I have noticed a few bloggers doing is wearing long blazers. Kind of a manly look. Not very feminine to my eyes.
Retainers are relatively inexpensive so get your bottom teeth straightened. You’ll be glad you did!
