Watch the BBC first on iPlayer 👉 bbc.in/iPlayer-Home The procession through Parliament begins with the sound of trumpets filling the Royal Gallery, as the Queen walks through to head to the House of Lords.
The Imperial State Crown is just ahead of where the Queen is walking, being carried on a cushion.
The Prince of Wales is holding the hand of Her Majesty as she walks through the room. The Queen takes her seat on the throne in the House of Lords. She tells peers in the chamber to be seated and gives the signal for MPs in the House of Commons to come in to the Lords to hear the speech.
Black Rod knocks three times on the door of the Commons to summon the MPs.
The door is opened, and at this point she asks for MPs' presence during the Queen's Speech.
As our Political Editor, Laura Kuenssberg explains, there is a very different set up this year as MPs file from the House of Commons in to the House of Lords for the speech.
Normally the prime minister and the Leader of the Opposition would be making polite chit-chat, she says, but this year Keir Starmer has to walk a couple of metres behind Boris Johnson due to social distancing requirements.
The Queen's Speech starts on health and social care
Huw Edwards presents live coverage of the Queen's Speech from Westminster. A unique combination of pageantry and politics opens the first session of the new parliament, as Her Majesty the Queen outlines the government's plans for the coming year.

So whenever the Queen or King opens a new session of parliament, Blackrod goes to summon the House of Commons to the opening speech, and has the door shut in their face, forcing them to knock, signaling the House of Commons political independence.

In theory, they have power. In practice however, any serious exercise in that power would be an open invitation to opponents of the british monarchy to finally push for it's dissolution or something. A powerful monarchy is something that international finance and business, the real "behind the curtains" rulers of the world, would absolutely despise.

@@ruthreid5142 All political power is invested in the crown parliament has no real authority in the UK as long as we keep a monarch that monarch is always going to be the government some dates back to the signing of the Magna carta and our unwritten constitution the monarch under the constitution has to rule and except the powers of the job or they have to advocate, most of the monarchs powers are used by there ministers and in line with an agreement between Sovereign and head minister the PM has to take responsibility for using them the power to go to war is the power of the sovereign and not the PMs or parliament. It was recently asked if the meeting between Sovereign and pm should be made public Buckingham Palace announced that it would change how the Queen governs so it was quickly turned down, all paper work from parliament and all government departments go to the Sovereign in red boxes day in day out these she will sign or veto this is not done for the good of her health. Parliament debates, votes and challenges her government a law can not be fully passed without the Queens consent the gold staf in parliament symbolises the Qeens authority in parliament without it the house cannot debate or anything. If you look for the royal family channel powers of the Queen the only thing thats not true is powers falling of the statute books because none have and impossible for them to do so she retains the power to put someone in the tower of London, I studied the monarchy for eleven years and like anything you can never say that you know it because you don't
