the biggest tire you can fit is about 1" bigger since thats all the room you have in the spare wheel storage area unless you move the spare to the bed or onto a rack. will suck to go out wheeling and destroy a tire and then have a smaller spare to put on.
Exactly! I can personally tell you how much of a struggle it was to just find a set of aftermarket wheels and SLIGHTLY larger tires to fit our 2016 blue Tacoma. 33s are too big, 32s are too big without trimming... really stuck with 31s unless you want a leveling kit! -Zach

I just put 285/70-17 BFG TA KO3's on a 17x8.5-10 wheel and I rubbed both front and rear. I took the crash bars out of the rear side and have plenty of clearance there now but when I back up and turn sharp I get a slight rub on the front of the tire yet. The -10 offset gives me a pretty good poke out the sides however and I love its stance. After I drive it awhile I'm sure that felt liner up front will wear itself away and the rub will be gone haha. I have a TRD Sport and don't want to level it, the rake is what makes it sporty looking.
The lift is not important in IFS and clearance . The clearance has to be measured at full compression at the bump stop. No matter the lift, that's the complete cycle of the suspension.

Good info I just bought a 2024 TRD sport fox doesn’t have suspension lift I want different tires I was thinking 33’s

35 too big without lift.

@ExtremeTerrainToyota right.
Question? Are you guys around LOS ANGELES? CA. I'M THINKING OF BUYING THE TRUCK , I WILL INSTALL THE TIRES.
I'm romantically in love with 33s. Thanks!
OMG same color but an extended cab, long bed TRD Sport with TRD pro lift from factory 😜
How about the sr trim ? I have leaf rear suspension; would the 285/70 r17 fit?
I have a 2024 trd sport with stock 18 inch wheels do u think the 285 would still work well with out rubbing
You need to cycle the suspension...
Genuine question here as I am trying to learn more about wheels, suspension, etc. What does cycling and how do you do that?

Has anyone tried 34” tires? Does anyone know if they would require removal of the safety bracket?
You definitely answered some questions for me. But how much are those wheels and tires?
Would this void the warranty and put stress on the truck overtime?
With the stock offset, does it stick out of the fender the 285 tire?
Would 34’s fit without any mods?
Probably with a Level Kit or a small lift kit. Without, there's a chance you'll be trimming.
34's will likely cause rubbing without trimming - we would definitely recommend at least a leveling kit or a small lift! -Zach
I have a trail hunter - super curious if 34s will fit with the factory lift it already has - haven’t seen anyone try yet
That's a big change for Tacoma. My 2020 TRD Offroad wouldn't take 33s without rubbing, which was pretty lame.

Many people don't understand this and add lift just to have clearance at ride height and the rubbing comes at the first Off-road opportunity.
Would going to a 33 require a gear ratio change? Would going to a 33 stress out the transmission and turbo too much with everything stock?
I wouldn't worry too much about going from a stock 32 to a 33. If you plan on going to a 35 or 37 though, I would look into changing gears. -Zach
