    Bad thing about Toyota can’t custom order. You get what the dealer gets allocated.
    Have a 4Runner and had to fly over 2000 miles to get what I wanted, and only few minor options I didn’t want.
    Their roof racks are worthless to me. Fortunately mine didn’t have one and installed a fully functional full length one.

    Thank you for this, great video.
    I put 1000 down back in March and there is no word as to delivery.
    I do not do super difficult trails since am usually alone and do not have a winch, I am not planning to put one in. All the negative comments here are a bit off and, in my opinion, this is the best truck Toyota has made, I am sure there will be problems but that is to be expected in such radical upgrade.
    I really like the noise cancelling feature hope it is on all trucks.

      They'll prob add it for the newer year models. Toyota tends to not add features to earlier models of the generation (like 3rd gen not having apple carplay and remote start till 2020) and add that quality-of-life stuff later for people who decide to buy one down the road. Its the reason why buying the first year of a new generation model is just dumb lol

    I have a 2024 Tacoma SR5 . I’ve had a 2017 Tacoma and a 2019 Tacoma both sports . Both trucks were rock solid but they definitely needed updated in ride , power etc . I love my 2024 Tacoma so far over 10,000 miles no issues . I tow a 17ft Lund boat (tows like a dream and gets 18-20 mpg while towing ) I get 24 -26 mpg on highway and 22 city . This is miles ahead of my 2017 and 2019 I had in power , comfort and just general overall fun driving . They are selling as fast as they hit the lots here in Ohio . It would depend on if you’re comparing stock or other vehicles that are less expensive but modified. My 2023 frontier was 42k, has dobinsons suspension upgrade, UCA’s Prinsu roof rack, 33’s and might have a front locker on it here shortly. That would all still be under 52k. It should be just as capable as the trailhunter. If you’re comparing stock to stock, I’d imagine a stock Colorado zr2 bison would have no issues beating a stock trailhunter and still cost less

    I'm excited for the new trailhunter versions of both tacoma and 4runner. Only thing that makes me hesitant is 1. cost is alot higher than previous gen (but looks like you are getting it in quality) 2. worried about water crossings with hybrid (battery + water doesn't always end with success). Are you worried about the hybrid on the trails (especially around water)?

    • @IndependenceOverland
      @IndependenceOverland  17 дней назад

      I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little scared of the first water crossings I will be doing. But these trucks are built to withstand driving in the rain, which is water droplets hitting seals at upwards of 80mph on the highways and stuff. So I can only assume a slow water crossing is less intrusive than that. But perhaps I am wrong.
      If people start drowning a truck with a snorkel on it for going frame deep, Toyota would look incredibly inferior to other brands. So even though they dont advertise it, I am sure they sealed it up pretty tight.

I can’t understand why they put 18’s on an OffRoading vehicle. And the wheel design is so inclined to wheel scuffs. My OffRoad has a 6500 lb tow rating and a payload of 1705lbs. The Trailhunter has a 6,000 tow rating and has a payload of 1709 lbs. The steel roof rack and roll bar decreases that payload rating on the Trailhunter. Most people will remove both so you paid for tires, wheels, the roof rack and silly roll bar just to want to replace them right away. That said, it has a lot of nice features. I think for $20,000 plus, I’ll be able to equip my OffRoad better than the Trailhunter.

      Spend the money to gain an additional 150 lb-ft of torque the hybrid has so it for sure wont blow the head off the engine under boost. Then buy skid plates, put a 9.5" diff in the rear, order the steering rack that's more geared for the larger stance, buy a steel rear bumper, and an air compressor of similar output and I bet your getting pretty damn close.

      @@jbcope1000 I have heard the non hybrids have the same sort of speed, but built up is where the extra torque is going to make a big difference. Inverters can be sourced from folks like Redarc pretty easily. But they are expensive.

    • @IndependenceOverland
      @IndependenceOverland  2 месяца назад

      It definitely can not be used for a heater all night, there's just no way. The battery cant do it so it would be starting up pretty often. Even if bypassed, it would just deplete the battery rather quickly. Space heaters draw a lot of power.

    • @jgm113
      @jgm113 2 месяца назад

      @@IndependenceOverland wonder what the battery capacity even is? I'm not wanting to run the heater constantly, a small unit with a thermostat in a well insulated tent could probably keep you slightly cold instead of miserable without running nonstop the whole night. Or just use the outlet to charge a large enough battery since it can take advantage of the high wattage for fast charging, unless someone can figure out DC to DC charging from the hybrid system as that would be the most efficient.

      @@IndependenceOverland Excited to see what you figure out. On another note you may have an easier time fitting 35's if you buy new wheels that have a zero offset. If my memory serves me correctly, the Trailhunter and TRD Pro both received wheels with 1.5" offset to give them a 3" wider stance. Cool look no doubt, but won't help you fit 35's. Maybe you can keep the 1.5" offset if you go with some cool & functional pizza cutter tires ;) Tinkerer's Adventure has a great video about this: ruclips.net/video/LAYGdcKSA3o/видео.html
