Mr H always has such sights to show us
splo1nger u dont say
splo1nger hahah haha he has such delightful horrors to show us
So true
They have should have u doing horror audio books I’d buy !
If you check out his channel, he's done several Lovecraft books already.
Hellraiser was so different when it came out I was actually a bit confused for the first half of the movie. Uncle pervy as the antagonist instead of the monster on the cover and in the commercials. It wasn't till I got older that I realized how rare an original take on a genre really is.
The films are amazing same as Doug hes such a nice guy also had the privilege of meeting butter ball and the female cenonite such amazing people pleasure to meet the legends in person
I did see on youtube a clip from an interview with Doug Bradley stating a scene that was shot but has been lost was showing the Cenobites in Hell, pacing back and forth in monk-like cells decorated with things to torture the Cenobites and keep them in their place. The idea was that when the Cenobites weren't being called they would remain locked in these cells constantly reminded of their failings and why they were where they are.
Andrew Robinson is my favorite actor. He was one of the greatest Star Treks Characters of all time, Garak from DS9. His quote," "My dear Doctor, they're all true." "Especially the lies." was brilliant.
“No more tears, it’s such a waste of good suffering.”
Gotta say Mr. H. Your the reason for my renewed interest in Hellraiser. Ive always been a fan of the first two, never really watched any of the sequels tho.
Inferno and Hellseeker is quite good in my opinion since they stay true to Clive's vision about the cenobites not being the main antagonists, but rather impartial judges. The other sequels you can give a miss though, especially Hellworld with its meta story.
VikingDrummerRob I thought Hellseeker was great. Really a good showing of someone's personal hell by showing him how rotten his soul really is. People tend to go easy on themselfs when it comes to these things
you're*
Boxes being associated with power and unwanted gifts probably dates back to the Greeks and Pandora's box.
Ah yes, I'd forgotten about Pandora, but I was also thinking about the ancient Greeks and their notion of 'perfect' solids - spheres, pyramids etc. I think they incuded the cube.
mouseketeery I'll ask a mate; he's Greek :]
The Hellraiser series has always been my absolute favorite things in the world. I watch all 10 weekly. I own soooo many things that relate to the series. Thank you so much for covering this. You definitely got yourself a new subscriber.
Thank you
Fun Fact #2: According to Ashley Laurence (Kirsty) in a DVD commentary, Clare Higgins (Julia) was a bit of a method actress and was constantly doing things to Ashley in order to annoy her, like pet her hair in the middle of shooting a scene (which you can see in the movie). She wanted Ashley to *really* hate her so as to get the best reactions from her. :P
Jesus wept. I had no idea that line was an ad lib. I love it when actors come up with dialogue that makes a scene even more powerful.
What about an Event Horizon review. I think that was a very underrated horror movie. It's one of my all time favorite movies
Your Hellraiser Reviews, Fanfiction and explanations are great. As a victim of wrong psychiatric diagnoses ( similar to Hellraiser 2) ,several years of abusing my personal History is so struggelt to images of hell, so Hellraiser and the Cenobitesa a logical way out of my personal hell. This is the kind of hell I feel familiar with and that doesn´t scare me. The true hell is reality.
I always thought the Lament Configuration was inspired by the Rubik's Cube!
These films were one mine and my best mates favourite. Thanks for the trip down memory lane with all your covered lately.
Met clive barker, back in the 90's he was a real nice human being, when he still had a voice he was given the stage pannel to rant for at minimum of 60 min, he was great at saying his opinion, this was back before he came out of the closet, still just great person to talk to, he made them because he wanted to make his film his way
That's interesting to know about the "Jesus wept" line being ad-libbed! I never knew that. Hellraiser is one of my favorite movie franchises and I love anything and everything having to do with the movies/universe of Hellraiser 😀
The actors in the original are some of the best character actors in the industry. Can't wait to see the new universe. . Great video MR H . keep up the great work
always a pleasure to view your coverage of anything Hellraiser. Cheers!
Great video! Hearing you talk about Hellraiser and other Clive Barker creations in that deep sexy voice never gets old.
The first Hellraiser movie I saw was Hellraiser: Judgement. I liked it.
Thank you Mr.H your content is always awesome never miss a video! You are in a rare league sir, hellbound heart is one of my favorite books and seeing it come to life through your videos and exploration of the flesh thanks again and keep it up!
Haha when you said that "the Cenobites were actually real actors" I thought "no duh" but then finally got what you meant lol
Braeden Mclean do you know how difficult it is to hire real demons from hell
Thomas Wightman well that is very true. But honestly I thought he meant like, people thought they were dummies or cgi or something lol.
Some one should do a Hellraiser tour of London. Or we could do a Hellraiser meet up and go to the original house etc
Kirsty will always be my favorite! (Hope that didn’t come out as creepy)
She made for a badass cenobite in the comics. Super awesome looking: static.comicvine.com/uploads/scale_large/6/67663/2884805-01.jpg
i grew up with these movies and i find it very interesting to learn the details i never knew. Very interesting work, keep it up!!!
Mr H. Your timing is impeccable. I had a pt client cancel and now I can enjoy your video and a coffee.
It's my favourite horror movie aswell. So much even that I enjoy all the Hellraisser movies to a degree but the first is really my absolute favourite. Hellraisser brought me to this channel and I stuck around ever sinds for its very interesting material and brilliant reviewer
I love finding out facts about movies I like . I find the one about Chatter having lines to say funny. Because who had that idea yeah let's give . The character with no lips a speaking part .
You should do work on the DVDs, I love your passion for this series. I love the original Hellraiser movies/Hellbound heart novel.
The square is one of the symbols of power because it's one of the first shape that was man made, a testament to man's glory that nature rarely produces
Thank you Mr. H, I love the Hellraiser films!
"Jesus wept" Quote was best thing Andrew Robinson contributed to 1987 Hellraiser & Andrew did a great job playing the good man father of Kirsty
and i just spoke to you about your hellraiser videos yesterday and lo and behold you grace us with a new one. thanks again. how rad is it that scorpio is in the first movie? i never knew that was him until i watched the off the shelf review of this movie and ive been watching hellraiser and dirty harry since i was about 6 years old
Always enjoy the hellraiser vids!!
I would love to see more of these vids Mr. H
Awesome video Mr H. Please make more Hellraiser videos. It’s one of this movies we’re you crave to know more about the universe
I’m new to your channel after watching your hellraiser playlist I truly appreciate the franchises I only saw the first 3 films but Looking forward for new film.
I love the way you say 'lament configuration'
What a film. Adore this franchise
good to know. i would see more stuff like this dealing with hellraiser
Yayyy!! Thank you Mr.H! Awesome!!😈❣️❣️
Another great video!!!
I remember watching this as a kid it scared the shit out of me great movies the sequel was good also
My favorite boogeyman. This is my favorite Hellraiser movie. I love the theme song for this movie as well. Doug Bradley is the best Pinhead hands down.
Somebody once told Clive Barker to not combine his enjoyment of Catholics Churches, Punk Music and Bondage Clubs... and Clive Barker was all, "yeah, COME AT ME, BRO!"
I quite enjoy your insight
Amazing a video mrh
I liked this video so much, i flipped my screen and liked again
I would like to know about the Elliot Spencer full past.
I love the Philosophy behind Hellraiser. They are not slashers, they are unique this way. It’s so cool
Yup. "Angels to some, demons to others." In the novel, it's even more clear cut. They repeatedly warned Frank about what he was getting in to and gave him more than one chance to decline the offer to go back to Hell with them. It was completely voluntary. However, they did NOT give him permission to leave. He was in it for the long haul, and they warned him about it from the start.
i never knew the Rawhead Rex debacle making CB take control of the Hellraiser film.
Huge fan love Hellraiser
would definitely enjoy more facts about the movies and universe!
I’ve literally never seen such a Low number of thumbs down...way to go!! I love this channel
Fun Fact: In the follow-up novel "The Scarlet Gospels," Pinhead shares the same sentiments about his adopted name as Clive Barker, and would go out of his way to make the suffering of anybody who mentions it particularly bad.
yeah was clive barker showing his distaste lol
I wanna see more of these types of videos
Epic
Thank you
My boy RawHead Rex is always getting it in the shorts. LOL
Yeah... I share that same soft spot for Hellraiser with you. Good insights I'm an American and share your "British point of view".
Great job as usual but I gotta ask what program do u use to put your videos together.
Great video. Love your vids.
DON'T GET BOOTY TICKLED, THIS TIME I BRING POSITIVITY!!!
+Nexus MOCs lol
The slasher/stalker talking thing was done in quite a few other slasher/horror movies Freddy Kruger springs to mind straight away and of course, his popularity in the 80's were due to his personality although of course he quickly changed from being a child molester into a pop icon.
Some of the changes from the book while sad to see was of course understandable. I do find it kind of funny that for a film which has so much S&M imagery and obvious sexual undertones coupled with some extreme gore including a man being torn to pieces with hooks that calling one of the characters Deep Throat was though of as going too far.
Hell yeah!
I was pottering with my friend's son's rubex cube last week and muttered, "At least this isn't the Lament configuration," she didn't know what it was so I explained it was the cube from Hellraiser, she didn't know it had a name lol
I would like to hear your thoughts on The Scarlet Gospels.
I always thought the female cenobite was hot.
Doug met Clive at Quarry Bank School and became friends
If there were aliens in the Hellraiser universe, do you think there would also be alien-cenobites? On an unrelated note, who would in in a confrontation between Freddy & Pinhead?
Have you ever read the Hellbound Heart? I got an audio copy recently and it was awesome
I've always said the cenobites looked like a S&M acid trip
💖💕 yaaaas
Clive must be tortuous in his own hell having given up the rights of the first book.
Oh no tears please, it’s a waste of good suffering!
I think the idea of a cube comes from Pandora's box. Whether the box was cubic or not; couldn't tell you.
Was Frank's voice dubbed? To me, every time I watch the movie, I always feel like that's not his actual voice.
Great first 30 seconds mate
+Kaeton Harts ?
Mr H Reviews just thought it was a great intro to springboard us into the meat of the video
+Kaeton Harts ah thank you man, didn't fully get it lol
I’ve read the Hell Bound Heart its very similar to Hellraiser, not sure how anyone can complain there are too many differences.
I'm noticing that Doug Bradley's blue eyes show prominently in this image. The "Pinhead" we all know and love has pure black eyes. There is mention of them in a long interview with Doug Bradley how difficult it was to see through those contact lenses.
So how did this image make it into the world at large? Are there more of them? Is there a reason for it (other than a mistake)?
Thus why Hellraiser is amazing.
Hellraiser is probably my second favorite horror movie
Your first being?
Painkiller The cenobite My favourite horror movies ever are the original 1974 Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the original 1981 The Evil Dead and the 1st 3 Hellraiser movies, not in this order, I can't pick which ones are my favourite of my favourites but Hellraiser leans towards the top.
1st
I think Julia is a brilliant villain in the first two movie's it's a shame she didn't do anymore film's in the franchise
Whilst Frank is a monster, he is not the monster.
Pinhead is/was Elliot Spencer.
+Khane Betrayer in the original hellraiser Frank is, the cenobites are merely there, they don't really do anything, the focus is Frank
Very true, I wasn't actually thinking about the literary work.
I stand corrected.
Uhhhhhhhhhhh, one small edit Mr H. Heckraiser, consider the children.
adding Hellraiser to my "To do" list. Any other suggestions?
+PMW3 depends what you're into movie wise tbh
how about facts about Mr H? 100k on the way
You may have been ask this before Mr H but im very curious . If you had the puzzle box would you open it ?
+kenny newberry I would, simply for the curiosity to see what would happen
I also would ! Even tho it could be the biggest mistake of my existence!!!
Fuck today's standards
please review phantasm movies
cool
I never quite got the BUTTERBALL....what's scary bout him?! Its just silly to me
7:15...Sick of his property being sold of and butchered....Isn't that what happen to Hellraiser?
+zintosion the rights for hellraiser are super complex pal
Irony at it’s finest
All hail the Leviathan The Lord of the labyrinth
Night terror.
I hope mr.h stands for have read hellbound heart, I think u just answered that 2:00 min into this vid.
yea i think you should do 12 facts for at the very least the first 4 or even to 8 not 9 such much as we know it was a sell out
Personally I like the condom story they tell from one of the first two movies on the documentary.
I saw and did not hate raw head rex recently. But the monster bears no resemblance to Clive Barker's version and his embodiment of the males lust was not properly explained. I liked the story of the main character taking pictures and looking for pagan sites etc. Just wish Clive had more input to make the monsters motives more clear, the monsters fears more clear and to totally re do raw heads design.
he's not your average sadomachocist from the grave. im reading the scarlett gospels mr. h you want more pinhead pick it up. cheers from chi-town bro
