So after the pandemic when you visit China and Asia again, please visit my beloved and small hometown Macau and you will enjoy some of the best pasteis. BTW, here we never get the pasteis from KFC (sometimes we think it is insulting to get them from fast food chains) because you can find many bakeries here make good pasteis (some authentic Portuguese and many Macanese styles). 加油。

@@WhosHU I made the pastry but the pastry was not successful :( .... I think it may due to the butter application step gone wrong. I melted the butter and applied on the dough. It turned out to be messy and butter oozing out from the dough all over the place. Ended up I didn't use all the 115g butter. The filling, however, is nice but there is 40% of the egg filling left after I made 12 pieces of tarts.
I can’t help to give it a bite ~ although these beautiful tarts are loaded with butter ~ fat hurray PS I love German horseradish and German mustard ~ could you spot on it ? Thanks

I have just the opposite story from another food origin: I recently discovered that our Spanish typical churros, famous around the world, actually come from China, they were brought here by the europeans visiting Macau. Crazy, huh!

偷懒用了超市的急冻酥皮,馅按照小胡的方子做的,减了50克糖,我们一家都觉得非常好吃,真的很有葡式风味,也不太吃到肉桂和柠檬的味道,但整个蛋塔就有了很特别的味道,没有了蛋腥味,个人建议不要减了这个步骤,减了糖的馅对于我来说已经很够了,不过每个人口味不一样,我是属于不太爱甜的。
