I love it when people get their comeuppance. The Buccaneers were making an honest living by hunting and selling meat to all ships. But because they were also selling to the enemy of Spain. The Spanish started killing them and all the animals. So the Buccaneers started destroying Spain’s ships and cities. I am sure Spain eventually regretted picking a fight with the Buccaneers to begin with lol. Servers them right.

It’d be neat to see more info about some of the pirate colonies or towns some pirates established. The most fascinating thing about them is that they were seemingly the only places in the New World in which African slaves were free and enjoyed more or less the same freedoms as the white Europeans did in these colonies and towns.

I’ll be doing some more content about pirate havens but Africans were not often free men in them. For example, Port Royal, Jamaica ABSOLUTELY had slaves during the era as did Tortuga.

Buccaneers would slather lard on themselves to ward off mosquitoes. Additionally, a lot of these men would form partnerships that look like same-sex marriages. Wish I could remember the proper term lol.
