Carl Jung talks about this. Within every human both sexes exist, even biologically and genetically. I don't think anyone should feel obligated to pick one or the other, in fact the balance of both is harmony.
Alejandro Jodorowsky references him in a talk he gave, he said "Siempre he creído que tanto las mujeres como los hombres tenemos un alma femenina y el espíritu masculino. As somebody who is going through exactly the same struggles... this has been the single most helpful thing I have seen my whole life. I, too, have felt cornered by other people's expectations of what a particular gender identity should be.

His words on the difference in between identification and presentation are gold, and not just for transgendered people. Somehow we all have parts of ourselves that we identify to but don't especially wish to present to others, for many different reasons, number one being that it's your personal business and you are entitled to keeping some of it a mystery.

what would it change to his gender expression if he'd simple identify as a man? why do people who wish to express themselves in a non stereotypical masculine or feminine way have to identify in a special term that "allows" them to express themselves that certain way? why isnt it ok for female and male identifying people to express themselves the way they want but they need to come up with a special term in order to be allowed to express themselves the way they want?
I ask this all the time , but it just has to do with the norm being to physically express your masculine and feminine feelings . It’s sucks and people should just be able to say what they are without proving it :(
Personally I just don't get how creating 100+ words to describe different people's feelings towards their gender or masculinity/femininity would help at some point. For me at least it doesn't, it just makes things more complicated for no reason. So I'm still waiting for one of those people who identify themselves under one of those terms to give me a real argument on why that's necessary or helpful.

A doctor told me that since i have mental illness they need to see if im really sure but i dont understand that and i felt fustrated because i am old enough to consent to taking steroids its not right that i am not able to do so just because of mental illness shouldnt mental illness be a key component as to why i should do it because i contantly feel depressed as a girl not feeling able to do anything with my life because of that
