It's amazing what you won't learn in medical school, even though in my Ob-Gyn rotation I was taught how to do a DNC for miscarriage post care or clean up after a placental extraction. No one utteted the word abortion or taught us how to do one, let alone w patient mental health care in mind. This taught me that if I want to learn how to do something I needed to seek out my own internships with my own interest at the top of the list to ensure that I would be taught everything I felt I needed to know, instead of depending on the medical education system to teach me what they thought I needed to know. It's very odd to be taught how to do a DNC in Texas with no mention of the word abortion and then to do a rotation out in California that was pro-woman, pro-choice Midwifery and abortion care.

This is the second time I watched this on RUclips. I am an occupational therapist by trade. I am also a 2 timer on this very stage.
In my professional experience, I get to know some of my colleagues who are LGBTQ+. One thing I have learned is to not treat them any different than anybody else. At the workplace (and at other contexts that I meet them), I need to treat them with respect. I think this would be a great foundation if I were to see a LGBTQ individual in my regular job as a patient. Then, if specific things arise, I would try to remember such experiences and then try to ask such colleagues for advices.
Before I started this career, I would say I would have been uncomfortable with this population. I was uncomfortable because I didn't want to say anything that would offend such individuals. Hence, I would rather go with safe topics and try to observe and listen before taking a risk. I feel that if we all can take a step back and do so without judgment (especially health professionals), we can go a long way to serve the needs of the LGBTQ patients better.

Jimmy P, I just read your comment. To become an occupational therapist, you contact your local vocational technology center or college and ask what classes you need to take. Also, working as a volunteer or worker in a caregiver setting will help you know if this is the field you want to go into.

I believe the best think you can do to learn more is to ask the specific individual. Be honest and admit that you don't understand or are confused and want to understand the individual better. Tell them that they don't need to answer if they would rather not, and then ask your question. It's best to have that person answer than to try finding out elsewhere because only that person knows themself best.

And if you walk in and the patient looks trans AF and the name on the form plainly doesn’t match the presentation, then ask them if they have a name they prefer (tho a good amount of places have a place for that info in the chart).
And if you’re trans and they mess up your name and it bugs you, then you need to correct them once politely. After that if they mess up, it’ll tell you a lot about that person.

Trinity Livingston I always thought of myself as male as a young child.. As a teen I thought that I was intersex and was simply terrified of addressing my confusion/learning the (somewhat arbitrary) “truth” at all.. I wonder how many out there are like me and far too scared to even remotely bother getting the medical intervention they’d like.

I think encouraging doctors to use the proper pronouns and educating them to feel more confortable with trans people is wonderful. However, an attempt by activists to compel by law every citizen to use these pronouns is scary.

Everyone is trying to blame physicians, both for the assignment of gender and bias in treatment. There is no evidence that physicians or the health care system is biased. Using correct pronouns is not medical treatment.

How to be saved and be right with God for eternal life! As anyone can get saved!
1-Admit you’re a sinner and be willing to turn from your own self righteousness to God.
2-Believe onto Jesus Christ, who being the begotten Son of God, died on the cross, was buried and resurrected for the full forgiveness of our sins as a free gift.
3-Confess onto God,asking to be saved by accepting this free gift of salvation, to start a new born again life after being saved from your sins by this free gift.
Scripture links below from the King James Bible.
    The Romans road to salvation.
1.Romans 3:10, “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:"
2.Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
3.Romans 5:8, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
4.Romans 5:12, “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for all that have sinned:"
5.Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
6.Romans 10:9, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
7.Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
An example of what to pray to God to get saved and forgiven of your sins.
“Dear God, I am a sinner and need saving. I know I’m not good enough to get to heaven and I need you to save me.
I need the righteousness of your son, Jesus Christ.
I believe that Jesus is the lord, who died, was buried and resurrected so that his precious blood can wash away my sins.
I trust in him alone to save me.
    Nothing else.
Not my good works or anything else.
Only Jesus. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.”
    More scripture.
    John 3:15-17
15."That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life."
16."For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
17."For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”
    Romans 5:8-9
8."But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9."Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him."
    1 Corinthians 15:1-4,
    1."Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2."By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.”
3."For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;”
4."And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”
    Hebrews 9:27-28
27."And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:"
28."So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.”
    Ephesians 2:8-9
8."For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:"
9."Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
    Revelation 21:8
"But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
More Scripture for how people will act before/in the last days.
    1 Timothy 4:1-5
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;"
2."Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;”
3."Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth..”
4."For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving”
5."For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.”
    2 Timothy 3:1-7
1."This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come."
2."For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,"
3."Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,"
4."Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;"
5."Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away."
6."For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,"
7."Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

Purposely going against the normal function of the endocrine system and hormonal output can have significant and potentially harmful effects on the body, depending on the methods used and the extent to which hormonal balance is disrupted. The endocrine system regulates key functions like metabolism, growth, mood, reproductive health, and immune function, so altering this balance can lead to a variety of short-term and long-term consequences!
    Thats why!
Why would any person in the medical field or even on the streets ever promote distrupting a normal functioning endocrine system?!
You are going against what is natural and actual univeral law by messing with this highly important system for no reason besides blantly forcing extra hormones that the body shouldnt have!

A huge majority of trans people will understand whether someone made a mistake or not. The problem isn't in making an oopsie, but in deliberately hurting and disrespecting your patient because of personal views.

Gynecology (n.) also gynaecology, "science of women's health and of the diseases peculiar to women," 1847, from French gynécologie, from Latinized form of Greek gynaiko-, combining form of gynē "woman, female," from PIE root *gwen- "woman." Second element is from French -logie "study of," from Greek (see -logy).
